Viola H. Kuze, passed away in San Francisco, on August 1, 2001. Beloved wife of the late Senyen Kuze. Dear sister of Sadako Tajima, the late Lillian Takagawa, the late Richard Towata, the late John S. Towata, the late Dorothy Towata, the late Louise Yamada and the late Mitsuo Towata. Dear aunt of Florence Okada, Irene Fujimoto, Nancy Tajima Joanne Lee, Patricia Tajima, Janis Yamaguna and John S. Towata, Jr. A native of Alameda, CA. and longtime resident of San Francisco. Mrs. Kuze was a member of Buena Vista United Methodist Church in Alameda.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Sunday, August 26th, at 3:00pm. At Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland. A reception will immediately follow in the Bible Cloister at Chapel of the Chimes. Inurnment at Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland.

John Patrick Murphy
September 5 1952 - August 2 2001

John P. Murphy 48, passed away in his home on Thursday, August 2, 2001 in Hayward, California. He was born on September 5, 1952 in San Francisco, California. He has been a resident of Hayward, California for 20 years and prior in San Mateo, California.
John worked for Nortrans in Newark, California for 15 years and at Core Mark Inc. for one year as a Traffic Supervisor for both companies. He graduated from San Mateo College and loved all sports.

John is survived by his beautiful daughter, Brooke A. Murphy of Fremont, California. His loving parents, Fran and John F. Murphy of San Mateo, California. He also leaves behind a dear sister and her husband, Joanne M. and James J. Johansson of Indianapolis, Indiana. He has a niece and nephew, Courtney and Gregory Johansson both of Indianapolis, Indiana. His dear brother, Gary M. Murphy of San Mateo, California. He also has several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held privately at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park and Funeral Home; 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544. The family has requested donations may be sent in his memory to: Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International; 3641 Sacramento Street, Suite A, San Francisco, CA 94118.

Ethel May Greenlee
September 13 1924 - August 1 2001

Ethel May Greenlee passed away in San Leandro, CA on August 1, 2001. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William Greenlee of San Leandro, CA. She was the loving mother of Jeffery Greenlee of San Antonio, TX and Robin Siegfried of San Leandro, CA. She was the dear sister of Helen August of Danville, CA, Melvin Erickson of Manteca, CA and Erwin Erickson. She was the dear grandmother of Robin Jon Siegfried and Jason Kyle Siegfried and great-grandmother of Alyssa Nicole Siegfried. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A native of San Leandro, CA, she was 76 years of age. Through the years, she was the honored “grandma” to hundreds of children at Hillside School in San Lorenzo, CA where she worked for eleven years.

Friends are invited to attend Funeral Services at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland on Sunday, August 5, 2001 at 10:00am.

Frances Inez Weirmack
February 16 1920 - July 30 2001

Frances “Poppy” Weirmack passed away in Alameda on July 30, 2001. She was the beloved wife of Raymond Weirmack of Alameda and the loving mother of Kenneth Petranek of Lakeport, Carl Petranek (who preceded her in death), Richard Weirmack of Livermore, and Shirley Clifford of Danville. She was the dear sister of Gee Gee Cline of Pleasanton and Jan Jones of Rough and Ready. She was the dear grandmother of Daniel Petranek, Chelsea Petranek, Robert Clifford, Kathleen Clifford and Michelle Petranek. She was the dear great-grandmother of Emma Clifford and Jillian Clifford. She is also survived by her son-in-law Jerry Clifford, and her daughters-in-law Darla Petranek and Franca Weirmack.
A native of Massachusetts, she was 81 years of age. She was a past president of Alameda Art Association, 4years; Scotts Florist in Alameda, 20 years’ CA State Fair Chairman, Art Advisory Committee. She taught Art in her home studio for 20 years and the first Woman air mechanic at Alameda Naval Air Station, WWII; and was a graduate of the California Arts and Crafts College, Oakland. The family prefers donations in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the charity of your choice. interment will be at Sea.

Albert Melvin Olson
May 22 1919 - July 25 2001

OLSON, ALBERT M. “AL” – Born May 22, 1919 in Alameda, Ca., resident of Oakland for 56 years and Fremont for the last 26 years, passed away in Fremont on July 25, 2001.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen L. Olson. Proud father of Carol L. Hayter of Hayward, and the late Albert M. Olson II. Adored by his 4 grandchildren, Angela Amaral of Livermore, Pamela Dixon of Fremont, John Hayter of Monterey and Albert M. “Al” Olson III of Fremont. Cherished Great grandfather of Kaitlynn and Kevin Amaral, Darrick and Danielle Dixon, Alyssa Olson, and twins Brandon and Trevor Hayter. A U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran and a native son. Retired machinist after 24 years of service with Owens Illinois Glass Co., and a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Fremont, Ca. At his request private services were held.

Virginia Salazar Mondragon
May 14 1899 - August 6 2001

VIRGINIA SALAZAR MONDRAGON, passed away Monday , August 6, 2001 at the age of 102. Mrs. Mondragon was born in Queretaro,Qro. Mexico on May 14, 1899. She was a resident of Union City for the last 7 years. Mrs. Mondragon came to the United States in 1956 and started a career in the food service industry as a cook. A loving Mother to her 2 daughters and 5 sons, as well as a devoted Grandmother. Mrs. Mondragon touched many lives in her 102 years of life. She was good of heart, respectful of others, caring and very wise.

William Ware Meyer
October 5 1918 - August 14 2001

Captain William W. Meyer passed away on August 14, 2001 in Berkeley, CA. Captain William W. Meyer was born on October 5, 1918 in San Francisco and was raised in the East Bay where he graduated from Berkeley High School. A lifelong career as a merchant mariner began when he served as a cadet on a Matson Line Ship under the command of his father Captain William R. Meyer. During the Second World War Captain Meyer was an officer on the ship Monterey during a dramatic rescue at sea of the crew and military passengers of a sinking ship in the Mediterranean. His career continued as Master on various ships of the Isthmian Company on which he visited ports around the world. Captain Meyer was extremely proud of his service during the early 1960's as Staff Captain on the world’s first nuclear powered merchant ship the NS Savannah. His career concluded with twenty-two years of service as a San Francisco Bar Pilot with responsibilities for safely guiding ships in and out of San Francisco Bay. He served as port agent for the pilots prior to his retirement. Captain Meyer is survived by his daughter Anne and was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Florence “Sissy” Meyer. He will be missed by his friends and family who wish the “Skipper” calm seas and a safe voyage. A gathering of friends and family to remember him will be held in the near future.

Cordelia Pearl James a Oakland resident entered into rest Tuesday, August 14, 2001 in Oakland. Born in Little Rock, AR on September 7, 1944, she was 56 years of age. Cordelia worked at Stanford University for 15 years. She graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland. She was a member of Park Chapel A.M.E Church.
Loving mother of Clarence James of Oakland. Dear sister of Travesteen Mellon of Merced, Charlesetta McGowen of Oakland and Johnnie Lee Williams of Oakland. Devoted grandmother to Jaiel Maleek James.

Balwinder loved music, cooking Indian foods, attending Riverside Speedway and his farm pets. He was a member of the Oregon Small Grocers Association. He was a Young Community Leader in The Sikh Temple of Fremont, CA, a commercial truck driver and owned/operated a small grocery store.
Dearly beloved husband of Paula Ziegelasch; Son of Channo Kaur and Gurbachan Singh of India; Beloved brother of two sisters and 2 brothers from Nawashahar, Punjab, India: Loving uncle of eight nieces and nephews.

Conchita Fallore Bagnol 66, of Oakland passed away on Sunday August 12, 2001 in Oakland. Born October 8, 1934 in Kahuku, Hawaii. Dear sister of Angelita Pamplona of Pearl City, Hawaii, Mildred Hill of Union City, CA, Ruperto Talan of Newark, CA, and the late Ariston Talan Jr. and Erwin Dumancas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Conchita enjoyed singing, music, cooking. She was a past member of the Filipino Circle Club and the Filipino Community of Alvarado & Vicinity. A member of St. Benedict parish in Oakland. She retired from Litton Industries as a Electronics Assembler.
Visitation will be held Monday August 20, 2001 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary in Hayward. Louise Swickheimer died in Oakland, California on August 12, 2001 at the age of 97 years. Her beloved husband Frank C. Swickheimer of Oakland, CA survives her. Her sons & daughter Larry Little & his wife Helen of Pleasanton, CA, Dolores Collins of San Francisco, CA & Ted Gourlay & his wife Shirley of Walnut Creek, CA; sister & brother Margaret Hendricks of Sparks, NV & Frank Nicholas & his wife Jenny of San Francisco, CA survive her. She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers John Nicholas & Joe Nicholas both of Sparks, NV. She was the dear grandmother of nine grandchildren; Lesli Little, Lisa Rohner, Debbie Chinowth, Paul Collins, Sabrina Lawrence, Rebecca Bocek, Beverly Lorenz, Judy Muetz & George Gourlay; great-grandmother of twelve and great-great-grandmother of four.
Mrs. Swickheimer was a native of San Francisco, CA. She was a member of Navy Mothers Club and The Catholic Women's Guild. She was a survivor of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
