Laureano Santos De Guzman a Fremont resident entered into rest Friday, April 12, 2002 in Hayward. Born in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on July 4, 1923, he was 78 years of age. He worked for the Army Air Force Exchange Service for 47 years as a Motor pool Supervisor.

Dearly beloved husband of Estelita S. De Guzman. Loving father of Teresita De Guzman of Tampa, Florida, Julieta Punsalan of Laurel, Maryland, Sherry Lynn Ellasos, Mercedes De Guzman, Ranato De Guzman, Oscar De Guzman, and Romeo De Guzman all of Fremont, California. Dear brother of Nieves De Guzman, Emilia De Guzman, and Cristina De Guzman all from the Philippines and Mario De Guzman, deceased. Devoted grandfather of twelve grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2002 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm and Wednesday, April 17, 2002 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the Mission Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. Roberto S. Elbo Sr. 88, formerly of Hayward, passed away May 8, 2002 in the Philippines. He was born November 14, 1913 in the Philippines. He was a retired Government Auditor in the Philippines. He graduated from college with a degree in Industrial Chemistry. He enjoyed playing the violin, and Gardening. He was married to the late Pura Mercado Elbo. Roberto is survived by daughters, Nilda Delacruz of Placentia, Ca, Sheila Leviste of the Philippines, Merly Balingcongan of Long Island, New York, Marvinne Aquino of Australia, Bernadette Gozon of Atlanta, Georgia. Sons Rolando Elbo of Long Island, New York, Roberto Elbo Jr. and Edgardo Elbo, both of the Philippines. Also survived by 1 sister and 3 brothers. 23 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. Devoted grandmother of ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Harry R. Forester.

Audrey L. Texeira a Newark, CA resident entered into rest Tuesday, April 30, 2002 in Fremont, CA. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts on October 23, 1943, she was 58 years of age. Audrey’s creations of crafts. She worked at Lockheed Martin. Audrey was a soft hearted and honest lady.
Dearly beloved companion of Richard Dubiel. Loving mother of Jamie Rogers of Fremont, Lisa Cruse and Nicole Texeira of Newark and Steven Case of La Grange. Dear sister of James Rego of Castro Valley. Devoted grandmother of four grandchildren.

Luther "Ray" Tucker
June 26 1924 - April 24 2002

Luther “Ray” Tucker a Fremont, California resident entered into rest Wednesday, April 24, 2002 in Fremont. Born in Dow, Oklahoma on June 26, 1924 he was 77 years of age. He was a member of Church of Christ in Fremont, CA. He served in the Church as an Elder for 35 years. He loved to fish and hunt. Ray also served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge.
Dearly beloved husband of Evylin E. Tucker for 56 years. Loving father of Jean Nance of San Antonio, TX and Peggy Tucker of Fremont, CA. Dear brother of Inez Hobbs and Delores Pearce of Fresno, CA and Cecil Tucker of Fremont, CA. Devoted grandfather of two grandchildren. His son Allan Tucker preceded Ray in death.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 26, 2002 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. Dear sister of Juana Alvarado, Elosia Alvarado, Catalina Alvarado, Josefina Alvarado, and Samuel Alvarado, all of Union City, California, and Alfonso Alvarado of Los Angeles, California. Devoted grandmother of three grandchildren; Jose Diaz, Leticia and Alicia Diaz. Loving great – grandmother of four great grandchildren; Marisela Diaz, Melissa Diaz, Nicholas Bartolome and Natalia Bartolome.

Vivian Marie Kelley
February 21 1924 - April 13 2002

Vivian Marie Kelley a Fremont, CA resident entered into rest Saturday, April 13, 2002 in Fremont. Born in Wade, Oklahoma on February 21, 1924, she was 78 years of age. Vivian was a dedicated and much admired teacher of 49 years, 29 years in Fremont Unified School District. She liked to read and travel. She loved spending time with friends and family. She was the matriarch of the family, the loss will be felt very deeply.
Loving mother of Renee Shean of Fremont, CA. Dear sister of Mildred Hutchinson of Tulsa, OK, Estelle Reed of Azle, TX and Leona Barthelme of Fremont, CA . She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Marsie Joe Kelley, her sister Lenora Carpenter and brothers Cecil, Woodrow and Jack Bedwel. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 18, 2002 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. Rosario P. Obregon
August 30 1908 - April 14 2002

Rosario (Chayo) Obregon, 93, a resident of San Lorenzo for three years, entered into rest in Hayward on Sunday, April 14, 2002. He was born in Tombstone Territory, AZ on August 30, 1908. He was a member of Elcino Community Church in Fresno and a member of Primera Igelcia Bautista of Union City. Chayo enjoyed gardening and his gardens were always fruitful and were open to all to receive the rewards of the garden. He also enjoyed carpentry work and many of the items he made, (pulpits, choir stands and communion tables,) were made for local churches in the area.

In 1995 his beloved wife of 64 years, Rebecca Obregon preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving children, Esther Reyes of Santa Fe, NM, Rebecca Mullen of Red Bluff, Mary Ann Gonzalez of San Lorenzo, Samuel Obregon of Truckee, and Benjamin Obregon of Madison, WI and the late Rachel Obregon who passed away in 1952. Dear brother of Adelina Sandoval of Tulsa, OK, Frank Obregon of Oxnard, Tony Obregon of Whittier and Joe Obregon of Oxnard. The caring grandfather of eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, April 18, 2002 from 5:30 to 8:30PM in the Mission Chapel of Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA 94544, where a wake service will be held at 7:00PM. Santo Roy Ilacqua
August 22 1928 - April 8 2002

Santo Roy Ilacqua passed away in Oakland, CA on April 8, 2002. He was the beloved husband of Mary C. Ilacqua, who preceded him in death. He was the loving father of Tom and Tim Ilacqua of Alameda, Bob and Donna Ilacqua-Helling of Alameda, Gino and Denise Ilacqua of San Leandro, Karen Ilacqua and Tony Woodd of Alameda. He was the dear brother of Tony Ilacqua of Castro Valley, the late Mary Anderson of Paradise, Josie Embree of Piedmont and Carmen Ilacqua of Oakland. He was the dear grandfather of Joy, Danielle, Dena, Lauryn, Tiffany, Ryan, Alyssa and Anthony; and the great-grandfather of Acacia Marie, and Daija Marie. He is also survived a countless number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A native of Geneva, NY, he was 73 years of age. He was an avid horse racing enthusiast and gambling conoiseur. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a fun loving, generous, giving individual whose mere presence and smile could brighten your worse day.

Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, in Oakland. Service time is 10:00AM on Thursday, April 11, 2002.

Willie Bell Harris
November 16 1917 - March 19 2002

Willie Bell Harris passed away in Oakland on March 19, 2002. Her husband E. G. Harris preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of Stan, Alta, Judge, Dap, Eddie, Kirby (who preceded her in death), Vern, Knowland, Latross and Freddie Harris. She was the sister of Henrietta Harris, the dear grandmother of thirty-nine, great-grandmother of fifty-four, and great-great-grandmother of three. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A native of Baxterville, Mississippi and long-time Oakland resident, she was 58 years of age.

She was a member of the Black Repertory Theater, OEDCI, Elmhurst Community Council and the Black Panther Party.

She graduated from U. C. Berkeley at the age of 58. She was a wonderful poet and an inspiration to all who came in contact with her.

James M. Heiser
March 11 1940 - April 13 2002

James M. Heiser a Hayward, CA resident entered into rest Saturday, April 13, 2002 in Hayward. Born in Oakland, CA on March 11, 1940, he was 62 years of age. James served in the U.S. Army. He was a pigeon flyer. He retired from PG&E as Operations Supervisor after 37 years. James liked quarter midget racing cars, enjoyed fishing and camping.
Loving father of Dawn Marie Heiser of Los Angeles, CA, stepfather to Kimberly Elgin of San Leandro, CA, James Silas Darnell of Salinas, CA and Timothy Frederick Darnell of Shreveport, LA. Dear brother of Shirley Soper of Turlock, CA. Devoted grandfather of ten grandchildren and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Beverly Heiser.

Oleta Fay Tachiera
February 11 1930 - May 10 2002

Oleta Fay Tachiera, 72 passed away at her home in Hayward, California on Friday, May, 10, 2002. Oleta was born to George Thomas Ford of Texas and to Pearl Ellen Chambers of Texas in Charlie, Texas on February 11, 1930. She has been a resident of Hayward, California for 46 years and prior of Oakland, California for 4 years. Oleta Fay was a Warehouse Receiver for 23 years at Mervyns’s Department Store. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Club of Santa Clara, California and of the Eagles Club of Hayward, California. She loved traveling, bowling and playing bingo every weekend. She was an awesome baker. She was known for her great cookies and unexpected sweet care packages.
Her mother preceded Oleta Fay in death at a very young age and by her father in February 2002. Her beloved husband of 27 years, Mel M. Tachiera of Hayward, California, survives Oleta Fay. She also leaves behind her wonderful stepmother, Vivian Ford of Fremont, California. Oleta Fay is survived by her 5 loving daughters and 1 son; Belinda Gonzalez & Della Craver both of Fresno, California, Raelene Craver Hernandez of Fremont, Veronica Tachiera of Sun Valley, NV, Jessica Craver LaMere of Hughson and Gary Tachiera of Hayward, California. She also leaves behind a very dear sister, Betty Huckabee of Fremont, California. She was the proud grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, May 13, 2002 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and a Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. both at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home – Mission Chapel with Entombment to follow at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park; 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544.
