Robert T. “Bob” Flynn left us on January 31, 2003 at the age of 82. Born on February 19, 1920 in Duluth, Minnesota. Beloved husband and partner of 60 years to Lucile Flynn.
Survived by two sons, Barry Flynn and his wife, Sally of Discovery Bay, California and Jim Flynn and his wife Linda of Granite Bay, California. He is also survived by four loved grandchildren, Bonnie Boccignone of Discovery Bay, California, Tammy Flynn-Seybold of Toronto, Canada, Michael Flynn of San Ramon, California and Brian Flynn of Pleasanton, California. He also is survived by three loved great-grandchildren, Nick Boccignone, Megan Boccignone and Luke Seybold.

Friends and Family are welcome for a Memorial Service on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home – Reflection Chapel; 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544.

Edward "Bob" Flores
December 3 1932 - January 30 2003

Edward “Bob” Flores, born in Oakland, California on December 3, 1932, 4th generation Californian passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, California. He came to Hayward, California on July 4, 1941 and attended Burbank, Bret Heart and graduated in 1950 from Hayward High School. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Doreen and had two sons, Michael (who preceded him in death) and Bob, Jr. Bob was a long time resident of Castro Valley, California and has been a resident of Alameda County all of his life.
Bob was a true entrepreneur of the first order at the age of 20 he owned the Texaco Gas Station on “C” Street and Mission Boulevard in Hayward, California, from there he had an industrial laundry also in Hayward, California. He then built a cocktail lounge and restaurant out of an old firehouse in Walnut Creek, California. For the past 27 years he and his son, Bob have, operated Marble Man Enterprises.

Bob is survived by his wife, Doreen, his son, Bob, brothers-in-law, Duane Norman of Pleasanton, California and Doyle Norman and his wife, Dru of San Ramon, California and many nieces and nephews and his life long friends Jim and Nadine Elledge of Concord, California.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home – Mission Chapel with interment to follow at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park; 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544.

Chester Joseph Bertelson
November 10 1916 - January 31 2003

Chester “Chet” Joseph Bertelson a Fremont, California resident entered into rest Friday, January 31, 2003 in Hayward, California. Born in Marvin, South Dakota on November 10, 1916, he was 86 years of age. He liked to tinker, bowl and play horseshoes. Chester served in the U.S. Navy. Chester owned and operated a pre-cast concrete business for 30 years.
Dearly beloved husband of Miriam Bertelson for 58 years. Loving father of Karen Anderson of Fremont, Mel Bertelson of Hayward and Ken Bertelson of Fremont. Dear brother of Evelyn Carter of Louisiana, Mildred Gunderson of South Dakota, Norris Bertelson of Virginia Beach and Bert Bertelson of South Dakota. Devoted grandfather of ten grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 6, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. NATHANIEL "ALBIE" OTTOBONI
December 25 1923 - January 31 2003

Nathaniel "Albie" Ottoboni passed away in Oakland, CA. on 1/31/2003. Born 12/25/1923 in Cloverdale, CA., he was 79 years old. Loving husband of Florence Ottoboni of Oakland, CA., beloved father of Michelle Ottoboni of Concord, CA., Kevin Ottoboni of Cloverdale, CA., dear grandfather of Amanda Young, Kevin, Jr., & Hana Ottoboni. Lifetime member of Druids, Cloverdale, Grove 203. Nathaniel was also a WWII Navy veteran. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Free Dining Facility 675 23rd Street, Oakland, CA. 94612, or to your favorite charity. Visitation and rosary will be held Thursday, February 6, 2003 from 5-8pm with the rosary to begin at 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held next day, February 7th 2003 at St. Augustine Church, 400 Alcatraz Ave, Oakland, CA. at 11:00am. Following the service, Entombment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Oakland.

Hisayo Mori
October 22 1915 - January 30 2003

HISAYO MORI passed away in Castro Valley, CA on January 30, 2003. Her beloved husband Toshio Mori, the first Japanese-American writer to have a book of short stories published, preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of Steven Y. Mori of San Leandro, CA and the dear sister of Hiroko Suda of Oakland. Her siblings Itsuko Yamakawa, Haruo Nakagari and Eichi Yoshiwara preceded her in death.
A native of Berkeley, CA, she was 87 years of age. She was volunteer/worker for Catholic Charities, Housekeeper, and Beauty Shop Owner/Beautician. Private Services are held in her memory.

FLORENCE ELEANOR FORAN
September 30 1920 - January 27 2003

In Loving Memory of Florence Eleanor Foran, 30 year resident of Alameda, CA passed away Monday, January 27, 2003. She was born September 30, 1920, in Oakland, CA. Eleanor retired with over 35 years of employment with the US government. Eleanor is survived by her children, Richard Estreito of Castro Valley, Kathleen Wolff of San Leandro, and Julie Zelinko of Coal City IL. She is loved and missed by all. Services will be private.

Darlene Romma Dare
February 13 1947 - January 19 2003

DARLENE R. DARE passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2003 from respiratory failure due to her fight with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Darlene died peacefully with her partner & family members by her side at Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek, California.
Darlene loved to read, spend quiet times at home, & take care of her friends & family. Darlene always gave so much, & demanded so little. She also enjoyed trips to Disneyland, Hawaii, Walt Disney World & Cruising with “Olivia”, Cruises & Resorts.

Darlene is survived by her loving partner & soul mate, Colleen Pun, of 9 years, her Mother Sadie Dare, Brother Byron Dare, Loving Sisters Orchid Jow & Gwen Leong, Sister in laws Dora Dare and Myna Dare. Darlene was a wonderful aunt to her seven nieces and nephews, Lisa Dare, Denise Jow, Jeffrey Leong, Garret Jow, Carlin Dare, Kristin Dare and Tiffany Dare. Father Benjamin S. Dare, Brother Benny Dare, Brother in laws Gareth Jow & Alden Leong preceded Darlene in death.

Family, friends & students are all welcome to attend her “Celebration of Life” gathering taking place on Thursday, February 13, 2003 between 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at The Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, in the hall. 1700 School Street, Moraga, CA 94556-1121, off Moraga Way. Sharing of how Dar’s life touched so many of us will start between 6:30 & 7 PM. Plenty of food & drinks will be available, along with Birthday cake.

Darlene’s final resting place is at the Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park – Circle of Peace Mausoleum; 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544. Darlene is in a glass-enclosed niche and her inurnment took place on January 30, 2003.

Braulio A. Zonio Sr. a Newark, California resident entered into rest January 26, 2003 in Fremont, California. Born in the Philippines on January 30, 1935, he was 67 years of age. Long time member of Church of Christ of Fremont. He loved to fish and care for his garden.
Dearly beloved husband of Adela Zonio for 39 years. Loving father of Julie Secretario of Newark, Josielyn Barraza of Hayward, Gina Zonio of Newark, Robert Zonio of the Philippines, Johnny Zonio of Newark, Braulio Zonio Jr. of Newark and Michael Zonio of San Rafael. Dear brother of Erlinda Snyder of Newark, Maria Linda Monfette of Florida, Estilita Loya of Florida, Perla Szelack of Florida, Rudy Zonio of Newark, Rodolfo Zonio of Modesto and Alex Zonio of Newark. Dearly beloved wife of Antero T. Aquino for 66 years. Loving mother of Zenaida Sarin of Union City, Lina Coballes of Honolulu, Hawaii, Perla Drury of North Carolina, Rico Aquino of Pinole, California and Albert Aquino of Union City, California. Dear sister of Vicente Casequin of Los Angeles, California. Devoted grandmother of eighteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

BLANCHE IRENE DORRIS
October 5 1913 - January 25 2003

DORRIS, BLANCHE IRENE was born Thursday, October 5, 1913 to James and Lydia Pearce in Missouri and passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at Sunbridge Nursing Home at age 89. She is survived by one daughter, Annie Dorris of Rio Linda, as well as 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Blanche was preceded in death by both parents, her children’s father Alvin Pickett , her 2nd husband George Monroe and 3rd husband Gordon Dorris. Also preceding her in death was one son, Jackie Pickett and 4 daughters, Dorothy Naazz, Billie Canty, Patty Randle and an infant daughter, Nellie Pickett. Mrs. Dorris also attended Friendly Tabernacle Church in Rio Linda. Family and friends are invited to a visitation tonight, Thursday, January 30, 2003 from 4 to 8 pm and graveside services on Friday, January 31, 2003 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes and Memorial Park-4701 Marysville Blvd-Sacramento (922-5833).

Paul Earl DeLong
February 13 1927 - February 2 2003

DELONG, PAUL EARL entered into rest Sunday, February 2, 2003 at age 75. Born Sunday, February 13, 1927 in El Reno, Oklahoma and was a 50 year resident of Sacramento. Beloved father of Darlene (Frank) Edadiz, Mary Lou Silva and Wendell Rhoads. Dear brother of James DeLong and Frances Rhoads. Special grandfather of Frank & Brian Edadiz, Ron King, Sherry & Hope Edadiz, Hazel Hull and Mary Jo Silva. Also survived by extended family members Leighann Keeler and son Jerry, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Mary DeLong. Paul was a proud WWII Veteran. Jack Lum Fong
May 19 1915 - February 1 2003

JACK LUM FONG passed away in Alameda, CA on February 1, 2003. He was the beloved husband of the late Ada Belle Fong of Alameda and loving father of the late Pricilla Lim of Alameda, Gary Fong (Shirley) of San Ramon and Gleen Fong of Alameda. He was the dear grandfather of the late Johnny Lum of Oakland and the Wylie Chey Lum of Oakland. He is the dear grandfather of John Fong, Jennifer Lim, Thomas Fong, William Fong and Stacey Fong. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Donald Lim.
A native of China, he was 87 years of age. He was a member of the Wah Sung Service Club, the Butchers and a long-time 49er fan.

Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, CA on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 10:00am. interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Johnny Hing Jung
December 18 1911 - February 2 2003

JOHNNY HING JUNG passed away in Oakland, CA on February 2, 2003. He was the loving father of Johnny Jung (Marsha Jung), Johnana Jung and Jerrell Jung (Sil Choi). He was the dear brother of Bessie Gunn and Mae Chan and grandfather of Darrell Jung, Devin Jung, Colin Jung, David Oh and Gene Oh. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
A native of China, he was 91 years of age. He was a Veteran in the U. S. Army.

Kenneth Ernest Forrest,Sr.

Kenneth “Ken” Ernest Forrest, Sr. a Hayward, California resident entered into rest Tuesday, February 4, 2003 in Key West, Florida. Born in Locust Grove, Oklahoma on August 30, 1936, he was 66 years of age. He served in the U.S. Navy and was an Electrician for 32 years for the City of Alameda.
Loving father of Karma Temple of Folsom, California, Karen Harris of San Leandro, California and Ken Forrest, Jr. of Hayward, California. Dear brother of Linda Cummin of Greenwich, Connecticut. Devoted grandfather of seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

ERIC RICHARD JANKE
February 12 1904 - February 18 2003

Eric R. Janke who lived in Alameda for 72 years died 2/18/03 at age 99. A native of Leipzig, Germany. Husband of the late Lotte Janke. Mr. Janke was a machinist for Hall Scott Motor Co. until its closing and retired Lockheed employee. He enjoyed playing music and fishing. He is survived by his daughters Christel Boeder of San Leandro and the late Ruth Pearson. Grandsons Richard, Russ and the late Steven Boeder all of San Leandro, Grand daughters Holly Gabbani and husband Ron of Pleasanton, the late Michelle Wright of Fresno. Great grandchildren Jennifer and Kimberley Boeder of San Leandro, Nicole and Laura Boeder of Pleasanton, Gregg, Brett and Eric Gabbani of Pleasanton and Taylor Wright of Fresno. Private memorial services for family will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland.
