Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at McDonald's Chapel in Redding. Mrs. Crane died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at her residence. Born March 27, 1919, in Trenton, N.J., she moved to Shasta County in 1991 from Thousand Oaks. She was a bookkeeper for Newberry's Department Store in Southern California. Survivors include husband Manley, sons Robert and James, both of Redding, and Larry of Los Gatos; and four grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald's Chapel.

Mr. Grimes died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff. Born July 24, 1922, in Lovell, Wyo., he moved to Tehama County in 1972 from Santa Clara. He was a fire captain for the city of Santa Clara and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include wife Rose of Los Molinos; son Patrick of Colfax; and two grandchildren. Mr. Hancock died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at Redding Medical Center. Born Aug. 23, 1937, in Sidney, Neb., he moved to Tehama County in 1995 from Jones Valley. He was a commodities broker, an ordained minister and member of the Church of Religious Science in Redding. Survivors include mother Lorretta Hancock of Casper, Wyo.; sons Michael of Anderson and Todd Janssen of Denver; sister Carol Bryan of Denver; and six grandchildren. REDDING — Mary M. Hohenstein, 99, of Redding died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Shasta Healthcare in Redding. No services will be conducted. Born April 12, 1901, in Independence, Kan., she moved to Shasta County in 1964 from the San Francisco Bay area. She was a homemaker. Survivors include sons Warren Beck of Palo Cedro and Robert Beck of Washington; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. PHILOMATH, Ore. — Former Redding resident Willard James Peasha Sr., 83, of Philomath, Ore., died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his residence. Services are pending at McHenry Funeral Home in Corvallis, Ore. Born Oct. 14, 1917, in White Bear Lake, Minn., he moved to Shasta County in 1971. He moved to Philomath last year. He was a truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include parents Peter and Adelia Auger Peasha; stepsons John Van Kuren of Minneapolis, Jim Van Kuren of Maple Grove, Minn., Mike Jensen of St. Michael, Minn., Tom Jensen of Brandon, Fla., Don Jensen of Philomath and Tom Constant of Elk River, Minn.; daughter Virginia Crowder of Riverside; stepdaughters Roxy Vesterby of Pengilly, Minn., Paula Gibins of Arizona and Sandy Wailes of Phoenix; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Perry Peterson of Crossroads Bible Fellowship in Anderson will officiate. Mr. Bargas died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at his residence following a long illness. Born Nov. 9, 1946, in San Jose, he moved to Tehama County in 1998 from Shasta Lake. He was a custom concrete stamper for BMI Construction in Texas. Survivors include longtime companion Kathleen Dennison; son Wesley Amick of Quincy; daughters Rebekah Amick of Cottonwood, Tina Avila, Tammie Rea Bargas Delmarty Baird of Pleasanton and Melanie Huel of Georgia; brother Jesse of Modesto; sisters Pauline of Modesto, Mary Ellen of Fresno and Teresa Taylor of Seal Beach; and four grandchildren. No services will be conducted. Born Sept. 18, 1947, in Los Angeles, he was raised in Redding before moving in 1974. He was a truck driver. He was a U.S. Marine Corps master sergeant and veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and a prisoner of war in Japan during World War II. Born March 23, 1904, in Red Bluff, she was a lifelong resident of Tehama County. She was a choir member, former deaconess and lifetime member of Red Bluff Presbyterian Church, served on the Presbyterian State Association, a charter member of Kelley-Griggs House, worked for Jones Jewelry and J.C. Penney, and helped organize the Pink Ladies at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. Survivors include sons George and Jim, both of Red Bluff; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
