He attended Old Mill School, Tam High and studied at Chico State. He was an avid Little League All-Star, played football for Tam and sax in its band. He loved pick-up basketball and going backpacking and skiing, first with his family, then buddies. Though husky, he was especially graceful as a dancer and telemark skier. At the same time he was the most gentle of persons and cared especially for children. He was a wicked scrabble-player and could even beat his mother. As a boy he learned carpentry and practiced it as an adult, taking pride in the decks and terraced garden he built. Dan is survived by his parents Ruth and Alan, his sister Anne, brother Peter and their families as well as other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
