ESCONDIDO - Guadalupe Peinado, 56, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in Escondido.

Born Dec. 30, 1943, in Mazatlan, Mexico, she lived in Escondido for 20 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Peinado is survived by her husband of 38 years, Larry Peinado of Escondido; mother and father Consuelo Quinones and Faustino Cabrera, both of Mexico; sons and daughter-in-law Jorge A. Peinado and Ricardo and Grace Peinado, all of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Roseanne and Victor Duron of Escondido; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., today, Feb. 10, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Resurrection Catholic Church. interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Howard Snapp, 85

LAKE ELSINORE - Howard Workman Snapp, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, of cardio-respiratory arrest at Ember Care in Perris.

Born April 28, 1914, in Los Angeles, he lived in Lake Elsinore for 25 years. He was a steamfitter with Steamfitters Union No. 250 in Los Angeles for 60 years and was a member of the Lakeland Village Congregation of Jehovah's Witness in Lake Elsinore.

Mr. Snapp is survived by his wife, Bettie Snapp of Lake Elsinore; son Gregory Snapp of Hayden Lake, Idaho; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Lake Elsinore. A private inurnment is planned.

Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory, Sun City, is handling arrangements.

Earl Shearn, 82
SAN MARCOS - Earl Leland Shearn, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Scripps Green Hospital.

Born Feb. 10, 1917, in Ohio, he lived in San Marcos for 20 years. He was a self-employed physical therapist.

Mr. Shearn is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Linda and David Calder of La Mesa.

No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Alice Macdonald, 82

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO - Alice Harriet Macdonald, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in San Juan Capistrano.

Born Dec. 22, 1917, in Woodstock, Ill., she lived in San Marcos for 11 years before moving to San Juan Capistrano.

Mrs. Macdonald was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Macdonald, in 1987. She is survived by her sons, Norman A. Macdonald of San Juan Capistrano, Ross E. Macdonald of Gallatin, Tenn., and Kendall A. Macdonald of Greensboro, N.C.; daughters Josephien Garver of Honefer, Utah, and Harriet Jane Lewis of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother Kendall Slade Austin of Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Mark Knutson officiating. Burial will take place at San Marcos Cemetery.

Erma Butcher, 90

RAMONA - Erma Jenny Butcher, 90, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at a local convalescent hospital.

Born March 1, 1909, in Des Moines, Iowa, she lived in Ramona for 28 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Butcher was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Walter Franklin Butcher, in 1997; her son, Edward Ervin Butcher; and her grandson, Raymond Ryman. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Walter F. and Linda Butcher Jr. of La Mesa, Phillip and Nahldene Butcher of Temecula, Raymond and Kay Butcher of Alpine and Charles and Jo Anne Butcher of Thousand Oaks; daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Charles Adam of Ramona and Nancy and Fred Ryman of Escondido sister Dorothy Durkee of Des Moines, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Bonham Bros. & Lee Ramona Mortuary. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Nuevo Memory Gardens, where she will be buried next to her husband.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Ramona Senior Center, PO Box 657, Ramona, CA 92065.

Roberta Moss, 82

VISTA - Roberta M. Moss, 82, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in Oceanside.

Born Sept. 20, 1917, in Danville, Tenn., she lived in Vista for 21 years. She was a telegraph operator for L & N Railroad and was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Vista.

Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Edward Moss, in 1969; and her daughter, Lawana Penry, in 1994. She is survived by her sons, Richard Moss of Folsom and Bill Moss of Poway; daughter Bobbie Miller of Huntington Beach; sisters Dorothy Workman of Lexington, N.C., Clara Rhinehart of Wyandotte, Mich., and Carolyn Ward of Grenada, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Revs. Steve Aubry and Greg Hoffman officiating.

The family suggests memorial donations to American Diabetes Association, 7297 Ronson Dr., San Diego, CA 92111-1411; or the American Heart Association, 3640 Fifth Ave., San Diego, CA 92103.

Jimmie Hayes, 74

SAN DIEGO - Jimmie Lee Hayes, 74, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in San Diego.

Born Dec. 2, 1925, in Keota, Okla., he lived in San Diego for 45 years. He served in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1962, and was a civil service employee with the U.S. Navy commissary in San Diego for 15 years.

Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lucille G. Hayes of San Diego; son Gerald "Jerry" Long of San Francisco; daughter Gini Pedersen of San Diego; sister Ruby Fry of Allen, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

Viewing was held Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service took place Thursday, Feb. 10, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary Chapel. interment followed at 12:30 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 1320 W. Valley Parkway, Suite 302, Escondido, CA 92025.

Michael Muffi, 31

VISTA - Michael Robert Muffi, 31, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at his home in Vista.

Born Aug. 24, 1968, in New York, he lived in Vista for 31 years. He was a 1986 graduate of Vista High and attended Palomar Community College. He started the Emerald Production Co. in 1989 and produced several independent films.

Mr. Muffi was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria R. Muffi, in 1998. He is survived by his mother, Michelle Tortorelli of La Quinta; father Dominick Muffi of Vista; and sister and brother-in-law Karen Muffi and Jonathan C. Merriman of McKinney, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Vista Optimist Club. A private cremation is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association, 7297 Ronson Road, Suite H, San Diego, CA 92111-1411.

Esther Pavillis, 88

LOS ANGELES - Esther Florance Pavillis, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000.

Mrs. Pavillis is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Mary Lou Earles of Cardiff; grandchildren L. Tucker Nunn of Aurora, Colo., Ida Sue Ingoldt of Escondido, Laura Goldacker of Coronado and Halle Provost of Chino; and great-grandchildren H. Brett and L. Kathryn Nunn, Andrea Pinner, Ashley and Victoria Ingoldt, Cassandra and Justin Goldacker and Steven and Michael Provost.

A private cremation and memorial service were held.

The family suggests memorial donations to a charity of choice.

Paul Forrest, 83

SUN CITY - Paul Eugene Forrest, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.

Born Nov. 9, 1916, in Toledo, Ohio, he lived in Sun City for 10 years. He was a research technician for Unocal in Brea for 28 years before retiring. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of the New York Central Railroad in Toledo and worked at the U.S. post office in Los Angeles for four years and Sun Oil Co. in Toledo.

Mr. Forrest is survived by his wife, Velma Forrest of Sun City; son James Forrest of Temecula; daughters Linda Carroll of Aurora, Colo., and Paula Hussey of Rancho Cucamonga; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today, Feb. 11, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery. Burial will take place at 11:45 a.m. following the service.

The family suggests memorial donations to City of Hope National Medical Center, 1500 E. Duarte Road, Duarte, CA 91010.

Bernard Keeley, 75

SUN CITY - Bernard Charles "Chuck" Keeley, 75, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, of lymphoma.

Born Dec. 2, 1924, in Long Beach, he lived in Sun City for five years. He graduated from high school in Long Beach and was a musician in the entertainment industry, retiring in 1996. He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Keeley is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Keeley of Sun City; daughters Cheryl Hydrick of Riverside and Susan Matthews of San Bernardino; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 11, at Evans-Brown Mortuary in Sun City. Burial will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at Riverside National Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations to Through The Bible Radio, Pasadena, CA 91101.

Dora Vaux, 77

TEMECULA - Dora Louise Vaux, 77, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, of cancer, in Temecula.

Born Aug. 8, 1922, in White Pine, Mont., she lived in Temecula for three years. She was a photographer with Olan Mills Studios and with Busco Nester Studios in San Diego. She was co-owner of Vaux Floor Covering in Sorrento Valley from 1968 to 1984 and managed the repository sperm bank in Escondido. She is listed in "Who's Who of the World" and "Who's Who of America."

Mrs. Vaux is survived by her husband, Robert Vaux of Temecula; son Richard Vaux of Temecula; daughters Jacquic Vaux Damon of Couer d'Alene, Idaho, Cherie Wachel of Wildomar and Jeanie Schneider of Moscow, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Arlington Mortuary in Riverside.

Michael Paboudjian, 70

SUN CITY - Michael John Paboudjian, 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Sun City Convalescent Center.

Born Feb. 1, 1930, in Patterson, N.J., he lived in Sun City for three years. He was a traffic controller for the city of Los Angeles and served in the U.S. Marines from 1946 to 1948.

Mr. Paboudjian is survived by his sisters, Lucy Aysse of New Castle, Pa., Rebecca Maples of Sun City and Helen Sisson of Cupertino.

No service will be held, in accordance with the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned, with inurnment to take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Homer Potter, 82
LAKE SAN MARCOS - Homer Potter, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Born Jan. 21, 1918, he lived in Lake San Marcos for five years. He was a special project manager for the County of Los Angeles before retiring.

Mr. Potter is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Traci Potter of Redondo Beach; daughters Yvonne Corder of Brentwood, Tenn., and Marcia Shaw of Nashville, Tenn.; brother Herbert Potter of Topeka, Kan.; sisters-in-law Ruth Sand of Escondido and Gladys Sand of Valley City, N.D.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.

Inez Potter, 81

LAKE SAN MARCOS - Inez Potter, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.

Born March 22, 1918, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Potter is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Traci Potter of Redondo Beach; daughters Yvonne Corder of Brentwood, Tenn., and Marcia Shaw of Nashville, Tenn.; brother-in-law Herbert Potter of Topeka, Kan.; sisters Ruth Sand of Escondido and Gladys Sand of Valley City, N.D.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.

Layman Heinselman, 88

ESCONDIDO - Layman Otis Heinselman, 88, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in Escondido.

Born July 14, 1911, in Kansas, he lived in Escondido for 26 years. He was an auto mechanic for 50 years.

Mr. Heinselman is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gloria Heinselman of Escondido sons William Heinselman of Sacramento and Martin Parra of Escondido; daughters Sharon Huffman of Redding, Barbara Jarnes of Fallbrook, Judy Getty of Roseville and Gloria Parra and Diana Angel, both of Escondido; sister Virginia Covert of Sonoma; and 13 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.
