SAN MARCOS - Norma Boehne, 75, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born April 1, 1925, in Wadena, Minn., she lived in San Marcos for three years and previously lived in the Glendale area. She was an executive assistant for Willis Corroon Corp., retiring after 31 years in the insurance industry. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and traveling.
Ms. Boehne was preceded in death by her mother and father, Delia and Arthur Boehne; and sister Genevieve Quesenberry. She is survived by her stepmother, Sophie Boehne; sisters Elaine Matteson of Minneapolis and Carol Hopper of Romoland; brothers and sisters-in-law Maurice and Adeline Boehne of Wadena, Minn., Edgar Boehne of Deer Creek, Minn., Gordon and JoAnn Boehne of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Arthur and Margaret Boehne of Nevis, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
A private Burial service will take place in Wadena. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Arthritis foundation, San Diego Chapter, 9089 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, CA 92123-1288.

Margaret Baird, 70
SAN MARCOS - Margaret L. Baird, 70, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at her home.
Born March 2, 1930, in San Francisco, she lived in San Marcos for five years.
Mrs. Baird is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bert E. Baird of San Marcos; sons Michael J. Baird of Novato, Rockey L. Baird of Pittsburg and Patrick L. Baird of Granbury, Texas; and grandchildren Marissa J. Baird and Bryce E. Baird, both of Granbury.
A private family service is planned.

W. Sam Clark, 78
OCEANSIDE - W. Sam Clark, 78, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Manor Care in Encinitas.
Born Feb. 4, 1922, in Oakland, he lived in Oceanside and had lived in Vista for 40 years. He was a retail clerk manager for Thrifty Drug store for 10 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Clark is survived by his daughter, Claudia Sneigoski of Whitehall, Mont.
A private cremation is planned, with Burial at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Wanda Martin, 68
RANCHO BERNARDO - Wanda Jean Hillard Martin, 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in San Diego.
Born Sept. 17, 1932, in Newton, Texas, she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 10 years. She was an administrative assistant for the Department of the Navy before retiring.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Joel and Cathy Ganze of Snelleville, Ga., and Robert Ganze of Fredericksburg, Va.; daughters and son-in-law Shelley Goedert of Fresno and Rebecca and Kemp Long of Conakry, Guinea, Africa; brothers and sister-in-law Shelley and Bobbeye Hilliard of Corpus Christi, Texas, and John Hilliard of Houston; sister and brother-in-law Ruth Ann and Cliff McDowell of Orange, Texas; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 5, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Barry Click officiating. A private interment took place at Dearborn Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 8525 Gibbs Drive, Suite 304, San Diego, CA 92123.

John Garinger, 87
FULLERTON - John Avery "Jack" Garinger, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Fullerton.
Born Dec. 7, 1913, in Coleraine, Minn., he lived in Fullerton for more than two years and had lived in Escondido for 21 years. He worked for Chevron in El Segundo for 40 years and was manager of the Standard Oil Credit Union for 28 years. He was a Mason and served on the El Segundo School Board during the 1950s.
Mr. Garinger is survived by his wife of 38 years, Adeline Garinger of Fullerton; sons David Garinger and James Garinger, both of El Segundo; stepdaughters Nancy Brewbaker of Anaheim and Janice Welch of Buffalo, N.Y.; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Burial took place at Riverside National Cemetery.
Douglas Mortuary in El Segundo handled arrangements.

Nicholas Kovalenko, 40
OCEANSIDE - Nicholas Robert Kovalenko, 40, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, of a massive head injury, in San Diego.
Born July 13, 1960, in Santa Cruz, he lived in Oceanside for five years. He graduated from San Dieguito High School and worked for Royal Roofing. He enjoyed surfing and skiing.
Mr. Kovalenko was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Lenore Hansen, on Aug. 23, 1998. He is survived by his companion of one year, Carmen Martin of Oceanside; father George Kovalenko of Maui; stepfather Don Hansen of Montana; brothers Christian Hansen, Sage Hansen and Boris Kovalenko, all of Encinitas; sisters and brother-in-law Heidi Hansen Garvey and Kevin Garvey of Encinitas; and nieces Makena Garvey and Anna Kovalenko.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 20, at North Jetty at Oceanside Harbor, with the Rev. Mel Kleschnick officiating. Burial will follow.
The family suggests memorial donations to Choices in Recovery, 733 S. Santa Fe, Vista, CA 92083, Attn: Debbie.

Libby Ann Knight
ESCONDIDO - Libby Ann Knight died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in Escondido.
She was born in Cleveland.
Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her husband, Blake Maret, in 1983. She is survived by her mother, Corinne Lepon of Carlsbad; sons William Scott Maret of Carlsbad and Thomas Knight of Escondido; daughter Lauren Elizabeth Maret and fiance Jack Harrison of Escondido; and brothers and sister-in-law David and Lori Schindler of Minneapolis, William Schindler of Orange County and Thomas Schindler of Pleasanton.
A private family memorial service will be held in Carlsbad.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Scleroderma Foundation, 2010 Corporate Ridge 74, McLain, VA 22102.

Paul Foster , 64
CARLSBAD - Paul A. Foster , 64, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla.
Born May 16, 1936, in La Junta, Colo., he lived in Carlsbad for one year and had lived in Bay Point. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired with the rank of chief master sergeant, E-9. He was the safety director for Pacific Maritime Association and enjoyed golf.
Mr. Foster is survived by his wife, Virnell Foster of Carlsbad; daughters Mary La Comb and Stacy Cheverton, both of Corona; son Robert B. Foster of Pittsburg; stepdaughters Sherril Altstadt of La Mesa and Nikki Morgan of San Diego; stepson Scott Romero of La Mesa; brothers Stephen C. Foster and Gregory M. Foster , both of Carlsbad; six grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Riverside National Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128.

Russell Warwick, 85
VISTA - Russell L. Warwick, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, in Vista.
Born July 6, 1915, in Mangum, Okla., he lived in Vista. He was a past commander of the American Legion in Hollywood and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in San Diego.
Mr. Warwick is survived by his son, Darrell Warwick; daughters Deborah Peterson and Acacia Warwick; two sisters and one brother.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Faith Chapel, Forest Lawn Mortuary in Hollywood Hills.

Patricia Raymond, 79
TWENTYNINE PALMS - Patricia Raymond, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, in Yucca Valley.
Born Feb. 21, 1921, in Connecticut, she lived in Twentynine Palms for three years. She worked for Robert Hall Clothes for 20 years.
Mr. Raymond was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Raymond Sr. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Albert and Diana Raymond of Southington, Conn., and George and Linda Raymond of Taftville, Conn.; daughter and son-in-law Catherine and George Ballard of Twentynine Palms; sisters Clara Santos of Myotic, Conn., Mateline Santora of Waterford, Conn., and Hazel Ware of Groton, Conn.; grandchildren Karen and Richard Sohayda of Oceanside, David and Davina Ballard of Albuquerque, N.M., Albert Raymond III, Kathy and Edward Conley, Robert Raymond and Tammy McClellum; and six great-grandchildren.
A private inurnmnent will be held in Connecticut.

Roberto Paliani, 68
VISTA - Roberto Paliani, 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in La Jolla.
Born Oct. 29, 1932, in Italy, he lived in Vista for 20 years.
Mr. Paliani was preceded in death by his father, Talete Paliani, in 1991; and his mother, Argende Paliani, in 1950. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Anna Paliani, of Vista; daughter and son-in-law Rita and Matteo Paladino of Temecula; brother and sister-in-law Adelindo and Giovanna Paliani of Thousand Oaks; sisters and brothers-in-law Lucille and Danny Montini of Vista and Yole and John Persy of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Eternal Hills Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Vista. interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Roberto Paliani, 68
VISTA - Roberto Paliani, 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in La Jolla.
Born Oct. 29, 1932, in Italy, he lived in Vista for 20 years.

Robert Wright, 57
MURRIETA - Robert James Wright Sr., 57, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2001, of a heart attack, at Inland Valley Hospital.
Born Feb. 20, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, he lived in Murrieta for three years. He was a chef for 25 years before retiring.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamela Wright of Murrieta; sons and daughters-in-law Raymond and Gaby Wright of El Cajon, Robert and Jaynie Wright of Bakersfield, Rodney and Tiffany Wright of San Diego and Terrance and Colleen Wright of Detroit; daughters and sons-in-law Betty Lou and Jack Whitney of Everett, Wash., and Samantha and Frank Cabadas of Lake Elsinore; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Lona Wright and Terry and Toni Wright, all of Portland, Ore., Ronni Wright and Debbie Gansch of El Cajon; and 17 grandchildren.
Viewing was held Friday, Jan. 12. A memorial service followed.

Violet McFarland, 92
LAKE ELSINORE - Violet Sweet McFarland, 92, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at her home.
Born Feb. 26, 1908, in Seattle, she lived in Lake Elsinore for 30 years. She worked in editing for the U.S. Department of Justice for nine years. She graduated from the University of Washington State with a bachelor of arts in 1928 and received a master of arts from Columbia University. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority and the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. She was a teacher in Washington, Hawaii and Japan.
Mrs. McFarland was preceded in death by her mother and father, Annie and Judson Sweet. She is survived by two nieces and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place at Lewiston City Cemetery.

Gene Stone, 65
SUN CITY - Gene Arnold Stone, 65, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, of cancer, at his home.
Born March 23, 1935, in Glendale, he lived in Sun City for one year. He was self-employed for 20 years.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Joyce Stone of Sun City; daughters Karen Rodriguez and Pam Stone; and five granddaughters.
A private inurnment is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 1240 Palmyrita Ave., Riverside, CA 92507.

Paul Hurlocker, 62
SUN CITY - Paul Scott Hurlocker, 62, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, of colon cancer, at Reche Canyon Care Center in Colton.
Born April 8, 1938, in Bemidji, Minn., he lived in Sun City for six years. He worked in sales for AT&T for five years and was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Sun City.
Mr. Hurlocker is survived by his daughter, Heidi Wendt of Chico; sons Kelsey Scott Hurlocker of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Adam Hurlocker of Port Lewis, Wash.; brothers Harold F. Hurlocker of La Mirada and Patrick W. Hurlocker of Renton, Wash.; sisters Holly A. Farrah of St. George, Utah, Kathleen V. Roche of Redding and Alicia Philpot of Sherwood, Ore.; fiancee Marie Chafin of Sun City; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

CARLSBAD - David Bachmann-Muoio, 36, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in Catasaugua, Pa.
Born June 28, 1964, in Beaver Falls, Pa., he lived in Carlsbad for six years.
Mr. Bachmann-Muoio is survived by his mother, Frances Bachmann of Hemet; father Dominic Muoio of Redondo Beach; and brothers John Muoio of Carlsbad, Mark Muoio of Fresno, Russell Bachmann of Hacienda Heights and Richard Bachmann of Comstock Park, Mich.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. today, Jan. 14, at Oceanside Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at St. John's Catholic Church in Encinitas, with the Rev. Harnett officiating. Burial will follow at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.
