VISTA - Annie Martin, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Villa Monte Vista Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 25, 1911, in Hawaii, she lived in Vista for 13 years. She was a homemaker for 59 years.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred H. R. Martin in 1994. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Harold and Minerva Martin of San Francisco and Benito Caravalho of Hawaii; daughters and sons-in-law Jennie and Freddy Torres of Honolulu, Armelita and Arthur Van of Oceanside, Violet and Herman Mosqueda of Oceanside, Renee and Juan Oquendo of Vista and Lillian and Joseph Rodriguez of Honolulu; 52 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-child.
Visitation and viewing is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. with rosary recited from 7 to 8 tonight, Jan. 31, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Florence E. Holsclaw, 80
ESCONDIDO - Florence E. Holsclaw, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born May 26, 1920, in Reading, Pa., she lived in Escondido for 25 years.
She was a saleswoman for Foremost Insurance, retiring in 1984.
Mrs. Holsclaw is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Holsclaw of Escondido; nephews Raymond McDevitt and William Saloka, both of Reading, Pa., and niece Susanne Richards of Phoenix.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary Chapel. There will be a private cremation.

Elizabeth Huntley, 85
OCEANSIDE - Elizabeth L. Huntley, 85, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001.
Born April 22, 1915, in Hereford, England, she lived in Oceanside for 36 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Huntley is survived by son Richard Huntley of Kingston, Ontario, Canada; daughter Monica Hart of Rancho Cordova; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at St. Michael's by the Sea Episcopal Church in Carlsbad with the Rev. Moquin officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at All Saints Episcopal Cemetery.

Della Beatty, 94
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, South Carolina - Della K. Beatty, 94, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in Hilton Head Island, S. C.
Born Nov. 7, 1906, in Gotebo, Okla., she lived in Hilton Head Island for one year and previously lived in San Marcos. She had worked many years as a legal secretary in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Beatty was preceded in death by her first husband, James Bloomfield and by her second husband, Thomas Beatty. She is survived by sister, Mozelle A. Irvine of Hilton Head Island, formerly of San Marcos; nephew and his wife, Roger and Lynne Irvine of Hilton Head Island; stepgrandson and wife Thomas E. Beatty III and Mary Beatty of Northridge.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Meadowlark Community Church in San Marcos.
The Island Funeral Home of Hilton Head is handling arrangements.

Alan F. Jebavy, 51
OCEANSIDE - Alan F. Jebavy, 51, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001.
Born July 9, 1949, in Milwaukee, he lived in Oceanside for 14 years. He was a musician as a local entertainer. He served in the Army Reserve for six years; and was affiliated with the American Legion in Imperial Beach.
Mr. Jebavy was preceded in death by his father, Robert John Jebavy in 1990 and brother Randy Jebavy in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marie Jebavy of Oceanside; mother Gladys Jebavy of Milwaukee; daughters and sister-in-law Jeslsi and Robert Puffenbarger of Vista and Kelli Jebavy of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Nancy Jebavy of Milwaukee and grandchild Alex Puffenbarger.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at King of Kings Lutheran Church. A reception is scheduled will follow at 4 p.m. at Windmill Banquet and Catering (formerly Pea Soup Andersons).

Amelia Schafer, 86
GIDDINGS, Texas - Amelia K. Schafer, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Fayette Memorial Hospital in La Grange, Texas of pneumonia.
Born March 30, 1914, in Ellis County, Oklahoma, she lived in Giddings, Texas for a short time due to illness. She was a long-time resident of Escondido. She worked as a foreman for Olson Brothers Farms, retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Schafer was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Schafer in 1968. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Herbert Keistman of Lincoln, Texas; sister Esther Schafer of Utah; sister-in-law Ina Koch of Escondido; niece Kathy Russell of Escondido; nephew Nelson Koch of Escondido; grandchildren Josh, Benjamin and Elsie Keistman, all of Lincoln, Texas.
A funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 27, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim, Texas. Interment icon is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Jan. 31, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido, with the Rev. James Young officiating.

Charles Bonner, 88
ESCONDIDO - Charles Bonner, 88, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Villa Rancho Bernardo.
Born Nov. 15, 1912, in Hammond, Ind., he lived in Escondido for 35 years. He was a self-employed businessman, retiring in 1974.
Mr. Bonner is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Bonner of Escondido; stepson Frank McComas of Fort Weight, Ky.; daughter Carol Ann Surufka of Highland, Ill. and step-daughter Marge Lipton of Wenatchee, Wash.
A private cremation is planned. Alhiser-Comer Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Jose Jimenez, 19
CARLSBAD - Jose Alberto Jimenez, 19, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001.
Born Sept. 18, 1981, in Oaxaca, Mexico, he lived in Carlsbad for nine years. He worked as a production worker for Santourian Manufacturing.
Mr. Jimenez is survived by his wife of four months, Alejandrina A. Jimenez of Carlsbad; parents Cecilia and Jose E. Jimenez of Carlsbad; daughters Amy A. Jimenez and Valerie D. Jimenez both of Carlsbad; brothers Jose M. Jimenez and Clemente E. Jimenez, both of Carlsbad; sisters Rosa Jimenez, Gabriela Jimenez and Marisol Jimenez all of Carlsbad.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. A Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment icon will follow the Mass at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Nicole Taylor, 27
VISTA - Nicole Anthonette Taylor, 27, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001.
Born June 6, 1973, in El Campo, Texas, she lived in Vista for 10 years.
Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nell Grays in 1987. She is survived by her companion of six years, Ayinde Smith of Vista; parents Nona Gail and Carl C. Taylor of Vista; sons Anthony Neshaune Taylor and Narqeelse Taylor, both of Vista; daughters Nahjah and Nhirie Taylor, both of Vista and brothers Wybrant Taylor of Newport News, Va., Carlos Taylor and Travis Taylor, both of Vista.

Elvira Hernandez, 33
VISTA - Elvira Hernandez, 33, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at her residence.
Born July 13, 1966, in Mexico, she was a resident of Vista for 10 years. She worked for CalTrans for 10 years as a grounds keeper.
Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her husband of three years, Luis Hernandez of Vista; mother Maria Carrillo of Oceanside; father Juan Mateo of Oceanside and son Sergio Castaneda of Vista.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 2, with rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. led by Jose Orzco and Carmen Uriostegui at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday, July 3, at St. Mary Star of the Sea, Oceanside with the Rev. Higinio Garcia officiating. There will be a private cremation.

John McConnell, 87
SAN MARCOS - John L. McConnell, 87, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, of natural causes.
Born Jan. 8, 1913, in Pomona, he was a resident of San Marcos for two years. He was a retired antiques business owner.
Mr. McConnell is survived by seven grand nieces and nephews.
No services will be held at the request of the deceased.
The family suggests memorial donations to: Humane Society of San Diego, 887 Sherman St., San Diego, CA 92110.
Telophase Cremation Society is in charge of the arrangements.

Laurence Holt, 63
STRAWBERRY, Arizona - Laurence "Larry" B. Holt, 63, died Friday, June 23, 2000, from injuries sustained in an accident.
Born Sept. 5, 1936, in Calexico, he was a resident of Vernon, Ariz. He served in the U.S. Air Force, was a graduate from the San Diego State University where he received a bachelor's degree in applied arts and sciences in social science followed by a master's degree in arts education. He was a building contractor and educator and later served as an administrator in the Calexico Unified School District. He was Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #1382 in Calexico and a member of MMA of Arizona, White Mountain Chapter in Show Low.
Mr. Holt is survived by his wife, Roberta Holt of Vernon, Ariz.; mother Alma "Susie" Tabor of Encinitas; son Steven Holt of Encinitas; sister Katherine Scheetz of Carlsbad; step-daughter Connie Stanton and granddaughter Shannon Stanton both of Nashville, Tenn.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at the Vernon Mission in Vernon, Ariz. Services will also be held in San Diego at a later time.

Barbara Matecki, 61
SAN DIEGO - Barbara Sue Matecki, 61, died Monday, June 26, 2000.
Born Oct. 20, 1938, in Florida, she was a resident of San Diego for 10 years. She was retired from Fedco.
Mrs. Matecki was preceded in death by her sister Jean Cole and brothers Jack and Mickey Cole. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Tony and Blanca Moore of Oceanside, Kevin and Mick Moore of Minnesota and Joey Crone of Lake Tahoe; daughters Karen Pernich of Sacramento and Rhonda Currier of Stockton; brothers Bob, Jack, Jim, Ronnie, Mickey and Gary; sisters Joanne, Janette, Connie and Norman; grandchildren Kyle, Kasey, Brittany of Sacramento, Ashley, Sean, Jessica of Stockton, Jessica, Joshua, Brandon, Bradley of Minnesota, Amy, Angie and Fabian of Oceanside.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 30, at North County Cremation Services Chapel, 635 N. Twin Oaks Valley Road #18, San Marcos, CA 92069.

Eric Klemm, 29
CARLSBAD - Eric James Klemm, 29, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at his residence.
Born Oct. 17, 1970, in Winterset, Iowa, he was a life long resident of Carlsbad. He was a manager for the 7-11 Corporation.
Mr. Klemm is survived by his father James M. Klemm of Oldsmar, Fla.; sister Laura Klemm of Oldsmar, Fla.; mother Irmalee Klemm of Carlsbad and brother Jason Klemm of Carlsbad.
Private memorial services have been held. Cremation and private inurnment in planned.
El Camino Memorial, Encinitas Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Beatrice Lange, 107
OCEANSIDE - Beatrice W. Lange, 107, died Thursday, June 29, 2000.
Born March 6, 1893, in Rockville, Ind., she was a resident of Oceanside for 37 years. She was a homemaker for 82 years.
Mrs. Lange was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lange, March 1989. She is survived by four grandchildren including Diane Fish of Auburn, Wash., and niece Dorothy Gofrey of Newport Beach.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. Inurnment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Gerard Salinger, 92
SOLANA BEACH - Dr. Gerard G. Salinger, 92, died Monday, June 26, 2000 at his home of natural causes.
Born Feb. 12, 1908, in Berlin, Germany, he was a resident of Solana Beach for 30 years. He was retired from the University of California, Berkeley and San Diego campuses. He received his Ph.D. at Columbia University in New York City in 1953. He was a professor of near eastern studies and a member of Temple Beth Am, a member of American Oriental Society, graduate of Sorborne (Paris, France), a Holocaust survivor, researcher, Harvard University, professor of Brandeis University of Cambridge, Mass.
Dr. Salinger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ursel Salinger, of Solana Beach; son Larry Salinger of Jonesboro, Ark.; daughter-in-law Denise Salinger and grandson Jeremiah Max Salinger.

Raymond Ernst, 66
KNOXVILLE, TENN. - Raymond Joseph Ernst, 66, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Park West Hospital, Knoxville, Tenn.
Born Oct. 31, 1933, in Cincinnati, he was a resident of Tellico Village Community Loudon, Tenn., and formerly of Escondido. He was a retired owner of R. J. Ernst Enterprises and a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Ernst is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Ernst of Tellico Village Community in Loudon, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law R. Gregory and Tina Ernst of Green Valley, Nev.; daughter and son-in-law Kelly Rae and Mark Schmidt of Billings, Mo., and grandchildren Brendt, Laura, Cody Tanner and Bradley.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, at Tellico Village Community Church, in Loudon, Tenn., with the Rev. Martin Singley officiating. Burial will follow the services at Lake View Cemetery, Lenoir City, Tenn. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the family home at 344 Okena Way, Loudon, Tenn.
The family suggests memorial donations to: Tellico Village Community Church, 130 Chota Center 3614, Loudon, TN 37774.

Jean Richer, 65
TEMECULA - Jean Emile Richer died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, of congestive heart failure, at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta. Born in Valley Field, Canada, on March 30, 1935, he lived in Temecula for four years. He was 65.
Mr. Richer was the owner of Custom Beverage in South El Monte. He enjoyed working in his garden, watching football and ice hockey.
Mr. Richer is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lois, of Temecula; sons Daniel of Montclair and Kevin of Covina; daughter Lisa Durfee of Temecula; brother Maurice of Palm Desert; sister Louise Wellock of Las Vegas and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Sun City. Burial will be private.
