ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - LuAnn Hitzemann, 50, died Monday, May 22, 2000.
Born Oct. 8, 1949, in Cincinnati, she lived in Albuquerque for three years. She earned a master's degree in literature and was the owner of Homewood Construction Co.
Mrs. Hitzemann is survived by her mother and father, Esther and Orville Hitzemann of Carlsbad; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Barbara Hitzemann; sister and brother-in-law Holly Hitzemann-Brandon and Ken Brandon of Albuquerque; nephew Vincent Brandon; and nieces Laura Brandon and Heather and Kristin Hitzemann.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Encinitas, with the Rev. Ralph Buchhorn officiating.

Dorothy Hume, 67
FALLBROOK - Dorothy L. Hume, 67, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside.
Born Aug. 7, 1932, in Louisville, Ky., she lived in Fallbrook for 19 years. She was a homemaker for 50 years and a member of the 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fallbrook and of the Women's Relief Society.
Mrs. Hume is survived by her sons, Charles Bolding and George Hume, both of Louisville; daughters Betty Reed of Indianapolis and Darlene Byrd of Louisville; sister Ruth Wynn of Fallbrook; 24 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, May 31, at Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service took place Thursday, June 1, at the 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fallbrook, with Bishop Richard Holiday officiating. Burial will take place at a date to be determined at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Kentucky.

Patricia Rudolph, 74
CARDIFF - Patricia Rudolph, 74, died Saturday, May 27, from cardiac pulmonary failure, at ManorCare in Encinitas.
Born June 7, 1925, in Crown Point, Indiana, she lived in Cardiff for many years. She graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis with a bachelor's degree in history and attended Rockford College for Women in Illinois. She was an airline stewardess, stewardess recruiter and special event representative for United Airlines. She authored two books. She worked for Bon Voyage Travel Agency in Chicago and was an advocate for alcohol recovery programs and victims of manic depression. She founded the Cardiff Town Council and was named Citizen of the Year. Known as Mother Cardiff, she helped establish a park in Cardiff. She was on the first Encinitas Senior Citizen Commission, helped establish Project Care and volunteered at city hall.
Ms. Rudolph is survived by many friends.
A memorial service and celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Cardiff Elementary School. A private cremation is planned.

Nick R. Ojers, 42
SAN MARCOS - Nick R. Ojers, 42, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Jan. 18, 1958, in Portsmouth, Va., he lived in San Marcos for one year. He was a laser technician for Melles Griot.
Mr. Ojers is survived by his wife of 22 years, Pat Ojers of San Marcos; mother Sherrell Lloyd of Sunnyvale; father and stepmother Jan and Rod Ojers of The Colony, Texas; sons Zack Ojers and Charlie Ojers, both of San Marcos; brother Russell Ojers of Dallas; sister Holly Law of Saginaw, Texas; nephew Bryan Nutt-Lopez of Sunnyvale; and niece Jaime Esteban of Sunnyvale.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

Terry Johnson, 51
ESCONDIDO - Terry Lee Johnson, 51, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Nov. 5, 1948, in Elmhurst, Ill., he lived in Escondido for 10 years. He was a window salesman and installer for more than 15 years.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn R. Bayler, in 1999. He is survived by his father, Kenneth Johnson of Storm Lake, Iowa; daughter Catherine Noel Desilets of Tucson, Ariz.; and brothers David S. Johnson and Douglas B. Bayler, both of Phoenix, Pete Johnson of Illinois and Donald Bayler and Daniel Bayler, both of Florida.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Phoenix. A private cremation is planned.

Loloto Hemingway, 64
OCEANSIDE - Loloto Hemingway, 64, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born March 17, 1936, in American Samoa, she lived in Oceanside.
Mrs. Hemingway was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hemingway, in 1995; and her daughter, Tautinei Hemingway, in 1964. She is survived by her sons Arthur Hemingway and Maliuga Hemingway, both of Oceanside; daughters Faipaipai Tuipala and Avalisa T. Lutu, both of Oceanside; brother Falamoe Tito of Oceanside; sisters Melita Tapuloa of San Jose, Uputaua To of American Samoa and Tautinei I. Fua of Oceanside; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the First Samoan Methodist Church. Another funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, at the First Samoan Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

OCEANSIDE - Josephine Greska, 77, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born March 1, 1923, in Boston, she lived in Oceanside. She was a homemaker and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mrs. Greska is survived by her husband of 49 years, Martin A. Greska of Oceanside; sons and daughters-in-law Martin Greska of Pensacola, Fla., Joseph and Carol Greska of Perris and Francis A. and Linda Greska of Denver; daughter and son-in-law Amelia and Robbie Smith of Oceanside; three sisters; and grandchildren Victoria Greska, April Sue Hydrant, Brent and Eric Greska and Christopher, Andrew and Ryan Greska.

ESCONDIDO - Nicolas Salinas, 13, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Dec. 21, 1986, in Poway, he lived in Escondido for 13 years. He was a student.
Nicolas is survived by his mother and father, Margarita Reyes Salinas and Jose Isabel Salinas of Escondido; brother Jose Salinas-Reyes; and sisters Amalia Salinas-Reyes, Maria Salinas-Reyes, Irma Salinas-Reyes and Eva Salinas-Reyes, all of Escondido.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., Sunday, June 4, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

John Gerz, 86
VISTA - John Gerz, 86, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Life Care Center of Vista.
Born Feb. 11, 1914, in Los Angeles, he lived in Vista for 21 years. He worked for Crown Coach Corporation before retiring and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Vista and the Elks Lodge of Vista. He graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles in 1932.
Mr. Gerz is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lorraine Gerz of Vista; sons John Gerz of Tujunga, Ron Gerz and Robert Gerz, both of Camarillo, and Gene Gerz of La Crescenta; and grandchildren Brook and Megan Gerz.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, June 10, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. a private cremation is planned, with inurnment to take place at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery.

Dorothy Blosch, 76
YUMA, Ariz. - Dorothy Jean Wilson Blosch, 76, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, of Alzheimer's disease, in Yuma.
Born Nov. 23, 1924, in Clinton, Ill., she lived in Yuma for five years and previously lived in Oceanside. She was a cashier for the Oceanside Unified School District beginning in 1957 and retiring in 1983 as manager of the central kitchen at Lincoln Jr. High School.
Mrs. Blosch was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter W. Shoup, in 1973; and her second husband, Robert Blosch, in 1997. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Luann Shoup of Huntington Beach and Joseph and Susan Shoup of Oceanside; daughter Kathleen Shoup of Oceanside; brother Fred Wilson of Phoenix; sister Marjorie Buckles of Washington; and grandchildren Michael, Sarah and Adam Shoup.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at North Coast Calvary Chapel in Carlsbad. A private cremation is planned.

RANCHO SANTA FE - Charles Richardson, 73, died Monday, May 8, 2000, in San Diego.
Born July 4, 1926, in Philadelphia, he lived in Rancho Santa Fe. He was a physicist and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, Shirley Richardson of Rancho Santa Fe; and sister Mary Miller of New Jersey.

Robert Fulop, 15
VISTA - Robert Mike Fulop, 15, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born March 28, 1985, in San Diego, he lived in Vista for 15 years. He was a student at Gloria Dei Academy for nine years.
Robert is survived by his mother and father, Joy and Dennis Fulop of Vista; brother Denny Fulop of Vista; sisters Linda, Elizabeth, Sarah and Abigal Fulop, all of Vista; and grandfather Gyula Kovacs of Hungary.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today, June 2, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Apostolic Christian Church in Escondido, with John Kloczle officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Lloyd Working, 79
VALLEY CENTER - Lloyd S. Working, 79, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Jan. 19, 1921, in Pine River, Minn., he lived in Valley Center for 40 years. He was a carpenter and served in the U.S. Army as a medic during world War II. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall of Valley Center.
Mr. Working is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Working of Valley Center; sons and daughter-in-law Daniel and Joanne Working of Lake Almanor, Michael Working of Yelm, Wash., and Joel Working of North Carolina; daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and David Schlegel of Kona, Hawaii, Heather and Gary Nolan of Lexington, Ore., and Rebbeca and Salvador Barriagan of Ramona; 25 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Valley Center. A private cremation is planned with private inurnment to take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

CARLSBAD - Louis L. "Lou" Simon, 93, died Monday, May 29, 2000, of heart and pulmonary failure, at Manor Care in Encinitas.
Born March 12, 1907, in San Francisco, he lived in Carlsbad for 11 years and in Palo Alto for 82 years. He was a business owner and auto mechanic for 50 years.
Mr. Simon was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary L. Simon; and brothers Ted Simon and Bud Simon. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert I. and Almira Simon; brothers and sisters-in-law Ted and Lillian Simon of Santa Cruz and Bruce and Betty Simon of San Mateo; grandchildren Leslie M. Simon of Berkeley, Karen Simon of Pleasanton, Rikki Sullivan of Carlsbad and Lisa Vitro of Lathrop; great-grandchildren Shawna Sullivan and Danny Sullivan, both of Carlsbad; nephews Ed Vismara of San Carlos and Lou Vismara of Hayward; and niece Laverne Vismara of San Jose.
A cryptside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto, with the Rev. Barry Freyne Hall officiating. A reception will follow at St. Thomas Hall in Palo Alto.

Stanley Kostrzeski, 76
SUN CITY - Stanley Kostrzeski, 76, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at his home.
Born June 2, 1923, in Wisconsin, he lived in Sun City for 24 years. He was a quality control inspector for Rohr Aircraft Co. in Riverside County for 12 years before retiring. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Sun City and of the Illinois Club of Sun City.
Mr. Kostrzeski is survived by his wife, Susan Kostrzeski of Sun City; son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Pamela Kostrzeski of Temecula; daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Bill Ireland of Sun City; brother Conrad Kostrzeski of Las Vegas; sister Ann Unk of Chicago; grandchildren Renee Unk, Garrett Unk, Nichole Unk and Raymond Unk; and great-grandchildren Austin Unk and Benjamin Unk.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 5, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. David Forbes, 84
MURRIETA - David Lowry Forbes Sr., 84, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, of lung disease, at Chancellor Place in Murrieta.
Born April 10, 1916, in St. Charles, Ill., he lived in Murrieta for one year and had lived in Torrance for 42 years. He was an electrical engineer for North American Rockwell in Culver City for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Torrance.
Mr. Forbes is survived by his sons, David Forbes Jr. of Boston and Jay Forbes of Murrieta.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 4, in Vienna, Ill. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Simpson, Ill.

MURRIETA - John Ivan Petty, 74, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta.
Born Nov. 19, 1924, in Los Angeles, he lived in Aguanga for 15 years. He was a mechanical engineer for Rockwell. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area, Five Stars and the Victory Ribbon. He was a member of the Toastmasters Club.
Mr. Petty is survived by his wife, Betty Petty of Aguanga; sons John Petty of Anzaand Eric Petty and wife Shawna of Aguanga; daughter Tami Abigt of Murrieta; brother Rick Petty of Poway; sisters Louise Matheson of San Diego and Betty Payne of Lodi; grandchildren Darla Abigt and Devin Abigt, both of Murrieta; and great-grandchildren A J, Austin and Randy Petty, all of Aguanga, Amber Petty of Hemet and Kitchen Isaiah Petty of Anza.
Viewing will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. today, June 2, at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Murrieta. A funeral Mass will be celebrated following viewing. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
