VISTA - Joseph E. Farinelli, 88, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, in Long Beach.
Born April 3, 1912, in Fayette City, Pa., he was a resident of Vista for 24 years. He retired in 1972; he had worked for Allison Works Coal Mine in Pa., and American Box Company of Ca.; he was a life time member of Elks and Knights of Columbus and a long term member of Brengle Senior Center and Vista Senior Service Center.
Mr. Farinelli is survived by his wife of 14 years, Frieda Farinelli of Vista; sons and daughters-in-law Joseph E. and Victoria Farinelli, Jr. of Carlsbad, Bernard Walter Watson, Jr. of Redondo Beach and James Watson of Nevada; daughter and son-in-law Mary Louis and Ronald Gibbs of Temple City; two brothers; three sisters; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at First Christian Church, 300 West California St., Vista with Dr. Young Chang Ha officiating. Inurnment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park at a later time.
The family suggest memorial donations to Alzheimer's Association of San Diego, 8574 Commerce Ave., San Diego, CA 92121.
Eternal Hills is in charge of the arrangements.

Louise Lynch, 66
ENCINITAS - Louise Lynch, 66, died Saturday, June 10, 2000.
Born Oct. 11, 1933, in Loma Linda she was a resident of San Marcos for 14 years. She was a health care provider, a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church and a cook at the rectory before becoming a health care provider.
Ms. Lynch is survived by her parents, Anselmo and Hermila Flores of Yucaipa; son Jim Lynch of Torrance; daughters Ann Marie Buezis of Garden Grove and Kathy Emery of Scotsdale, Ariz.; brother Daniel Flores of Lakeview; sisters Carolina Flores-Wittman of Bonita and Rosa Blegen of Yucaipa and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 15 with rosary recited at 7 p.m. at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16 at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Burial will follow the Mass to San Marcos Cemetery.

Geraldine Davis, 89
ESCONDIDO - Geraldine Iona Davis, 89, died Friday, June 9, 2000 at her residence.
Born Sept. 29, 1910, in Rochester, N.Y., she was a resident of Escondido for six months and was formerly of San Marcos for 20 years. She was a homemaker, an avid artist and organist, she served on the Palomar Estates West Art Club and Organ Club committees.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband Henry A. Davis of Escondidio; son Douglas R. Davis of Placerville; daughter Linda Ball of San Diego; brother Harvey Cole of Coral Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel. A private cremation is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to: National Osteoporosis Foundation, 1232 22nd St. NW, Washington, DC 20037-1292.

Floyd Hoover, 87
OCEANSIDE - Floyd E. Hoover, 87, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000.
Born Jan. 22, 1913, in Delaware County, Ind., he was a resident of Oceanside and formerly of Greenwood, Ind. He retired in 1983 having worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 15 years. Previously he worked for Nankelville Chevrolet in Indianapolis and Allison. He was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church and Greenwood Masonic Lodge No. 514.
Mr. Hoover was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Petram on May 31, 1997; six brothers and six sisters. He is survived by daughters Earleen Hoover and Sondre Lakin, both of Oceanside; brothers Larry Hoover of Cambridge City, Ind., Harry F. Hoover of Sun City, Ariz. and William Hoover of Winchester, Ind.
Funeral services were held today at 11:30 a.m. at the Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, State Road 135 Chapel, Greenwood, Ind.
The family suggests memorial donations to: Central Indiana Chapter of Alzheimer Association, 9135 N. Meridian St. Suite B-4, Indianapolis, IN 46209-7109.

John Brannon, 72
Rancho Bernardo - John Wesley Brannon, Jr., 72, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000.
Born Nov. 6, 1927, in Tenn. he was a resident of Rancho Bernardo for 31 years. He retired as a commander having served in the Navy for 30 years. He was a member of the Optimist Club of San Diego and a member of the Mission and St. Michael's Catholic Church Choir.
Mr. Brannon is survived by his wife, Joan Mr. Brannon of Rancho Bernardo, daughters Candance J. Olvaney of Valley Center, Colleen A. Kurupas of Ramona, Kelly M. Stack of Hawaii and M. Kimberly Olvaney of Fallbrook; son John S. Brannon of Encinitas and nine grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 15546 Pomerado Road, Poway.
The family suggests memorial donations to: San Diego Hospice, 4311 Third Ave., San Diego, CA 92103.

Paula Reth, 82
CHATTANOOGA, TENN - Paula Reth, 82, died Tuesday, June 10, 2000.
Born June 23, 1917, in Yugoslavia, she was a resident of Escondido for 16 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Escondido.
Mrs. Reth was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Henry Reth. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Henry and Diane Reth, Jr. of Wilmington, Fred and Cheryl Reth of San Diego, John and Michelle Reth of Escondido, Karl and Sherry Reth of Escondido and Edgar Reth of Wildwood, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law Martha and James Hoag of Del Mar; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 16 at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 16 at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary with the Rev. Ed Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Virginia Williams, 68
OCEANSIDE - Virginia Marie Williams, 68, died Wednesday, June 7, 200, in Oceanside.
Born March 20, 1932, in Milwaukee, she lived in Oceanside for 40 years. She was a deputy clerk 4 at North County Municipal Court for 23 years and a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, St. Francis Cabrini Guild, St. Mary Star of the Sea Chapter, North County Music Scholarship Foundation and past president of American Business Women's Association.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her companion of four years, Julius Raetz of Oceanside; sons George Wood of San Diego and Edward Wood of Oceanside; daughters Stephanie Vaughan-Chaldy of Fallbrook and Jennifer McNees of Phoenix; brother John Fortier of Vallejo; sisters Gail Janosov of Peoria, Ill., and June Weight of Pleasanton; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Pham officiating. A Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Mission San Luis Rey Church, with the Rev. John Dolan officiating. Interment icon will follow at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery. A reception will follow at Mission San Luis Rey.

James Sullivan, 21
SAN MARCOS - James Aaron Sullivan, 21, died Friday, June 2, 2000, on active duty with the U.S. Navy, in Virginia.
Born June 10, 1978, in Bisbee, Ariz., he lived in San Marcos.
Mr. Sullivan is survived by his mother and stepfather, Tammy and William Beach of San Marcos; grandparents Pete and Katie Amaya and James Sullivan, all of Bisbee, Ariz.; great-grandmother Elvira Lopez of Bisbee; brother Brandon Beach of San Marcos; and sisters Valerie Beach of San Marcos and Jolinda Buddenhagen of Tucson, Ariz.
Graveside services and inurnment is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery is pending. Call Allen Brothers Mortuary for service time and date.

Joyce Hardy, 67
ESCONDIDO - Joyce Renee Hardy, 67, died Thursday, June 9, 2000, in her home.
Born Sept. 27, 1932 in California, she lived in Escondido for 37 years. She was a homemaker for 48 years.
Mrs. Hardy is survived by her husband of 30 years, Frederick Hardy of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Steven L. and Irma Fewster of Escondido; daughters and son-in-law Shalyn Renee and Allan Cyr of La Costa, Dori Gobiel of Escondido and Cindy Fewster of Escondido; brother and sister-in-law Daverne and Yvonne Louis of Oregon; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Inurnment is scheduled for Friday, June 16 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Escondido.

Sugne Stretcher, 79
SUN CITY - Signe Aprilla Stretcher, 79, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at her home in Sun City.
Born April 14, 1921, in Tulsa, Okla., she lived in Sun City for five years. She was self-employed and a homemaker. She belonged to the Sweet Adalines and the Elks Lodge in Payson, Ariz. She enlisted in the Navy in 1943 for one year and was a World War II veteran.
Mrs. Stretcher is survived by her son, Rusty Allen of Del Norte, Colo.; daughters, Carol Baumgardner of Fallbrook and Jody Myers of Valley Center; sister Elvera Bibb of Lake Elsinore; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 7130 Magnolia, Suite S, Riverside, CA 92504. Miller-Jones Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Robert McPherson, 65
MURRIETA - Robert Gene McPherson, 65, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at his home.
Born August 4, 1934, in Oklahoma City, he had lived in Murrieta for 11 years. He was owner of Sweep Clean for 10 years. He served for four years in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. McPherson is survived by his wife, Josephine McPherson of Murrieta; sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Maddy McPherson of Rancho Santa Margarita, and Philip and Mary McPherson of Simi Valley; sons David and Kenneth McPherson both of Murrieta; sister and brother-in-law Freda and William Goff of Murrieta; sister-in-law Frances Cohen of Murrieta; niece Cathi Cullen of Rancho Santa Margarita; granddaughters Danielle McPherson of Murrieta and Krista and Amanda McPherson, both of Simi Valley; and grandsons Joseph McPherson of Murrieta and Kyle McPherson of Rancho Santa Margarita.
Services were held Sunday, June 11, at Valley Funeral Home.

George Neville, 69
TEMECULA - George William Neville, 69, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at his home in Temecula.
Born Nov. 5, 1930, in Dickenson, N.D., he lived in Temecula for seven years. He was a surveyor and construction manager throughout the United States and in the Pacific and Southeast Asia. He was also chief estimator for American Contracting in Temecula. He served in the U.S. Army infantry during the Korean War and was wounded in the retreat to the Pusan perimeter.
Neville is survived by his wife, Somsri Neville of Temecula; son Jon Neville of Escondido; sisters Daphney Linscott and June Gotharad, both of Billings, Mont.; and caretaker Penney Flores.
A private service was held May 28, 2000.

Dolores Lake, 72
ESCONDIDO - Dolores E. Lake, 72, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at her home.
Born Jan. 13, 1928, in Chicago, she lived in Escondido for 20 years. She was a unit secretary at Palomar Medical Center for 15 years and a member of the Catholic Church and the Bridge Club.
Mrs. Lake is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, William A. and Mary Ann Lake of San Diego; nephew David Lake; and niece Jennifer Lake.
Telophase Cremation Society is handling arrangements.

Viola Beauchane, 82
ENCINITAS - Viola Marie Beauchane, 82, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Manor Care in Encinitas.
Born Dec. 5, 1917, in Minnesota, she lived in Del Mar, Vista and Oceanside for 23 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Beauchane is survived by her sons, Jerome R. Beauchane of Del Mar and Rollin P. Beauchane of Camby, Ore.; daughter Marlene Camacho of San Jose; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private family service is planned. Inurnment will take place at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to a charity of choice.

Vyonda Benson, 74
SAN MARCOS - Vyonda Ernestine Benson, 74, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at her home.
Born Oct. 27, 1925, in Gove, Kan., she lived in San Marcos for 44 years. She was a food service supervisor for Singer-Kearfott for seven years.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her husband, Melvin A. Benson of San Marcos; sons Richard Benson of Ferron, Utah, and John Mark Benson of San Marcos; daughters Janice Gertner of Hayfork and Jeanne Justice of Ramona; sister Nadine Snowden of San Marcos; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today, June 15, and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Valley Bible Church in San Marcos, with the Revs. Bill Farrel and Andy McAdams officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. Farrel officiating.

Grace Miller, 88
VISTA - Grace Louise Miller, 88, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at her home.
Born July 12, 1911, in Los Angeles, she lived in Vista for five years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vista Senior Center.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edmond Miller, on March 26, 1998. She is survived by her sons, Edmond T. Miller II of Vista and William Rodarm of Newbury Park; daughters Patricia Sweeney of Auburn, Wash., and Barbara Diaz of Blackfoot, Idaho; and sister Myrtle Holl of San Diego.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, June 15, at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 3, with the Rev. James R. Dale officiating. Interment icon will follow.

William Shields, 79
ESCONDIDO - William Shields, 79, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Scripps Green Hospital.
Born March 26, 1925, in Escondido, he lived in Escondido for 75 years. He was a guided missileman at the U.S. Naval Weapons Station before retiring and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.
Mr. Shields is survived by his nieces, Linda Allison of Hemet, Diane Ursich of San Diego and Sharon Carpenter of McKinleyville; nephews Kenneth Shields of Denver and Robert Shields and Joseph Shields, both of San Diego; and sister-in-law Imogene Shields of McKinleyville.
A private family graveside service and burial will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
