John Wick, 65
SUN CITY - John Curtis Wick, 65, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at his work in Temecula.
Born March 18, 1935, in Lordstown, Ohio, he lived in Sun City for four years. He was a land title officer for several title companies throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties for 35 years, including American Title Co. and was co-owner of Graffix in Temecula. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1961 and was a member of the American Legion, Perris Post.
Mr. Wick is survived by his wife, Ardith Wick of Sun City; sons Anthony Wick of Apple Valley, Curtis Wick of Valley Center and Timothy Wick of Alta Loma; daughter Vicki Miranda of Irvine; brothers Benjamin Wick and Richard Wick, both of Ohio; sisters Mildred Bailey, Helen Fleming and Jean Garland, all of Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Sun City. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Richard Hilleary officiating. Burial will take place at Perris Valley Cemetery.

Kenneth White, 51
OCEANSIDE - Kenneth William White, 51, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born May 8, 1949, in Washington, he lived in Oceanside for 38 years. He worked for MCX Complex service stations in Campen and served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971. He was a member of the Ethel P. Thompson, Chapter 95, D.E.S. - P.H. R.A. of Oceanside and a member of the I.O.O.F. 339 Masonic Lodge in Vista.
Mr. White is survived by his mother and father, Camillia and Sug Boyd of Dangerfield, Texas; son Vincent White; daughters Vanessa White and Azile Osinowo, both of Oceanside; brother William Course; sisters Virginia Jones of Oceanside, Carmela White, Rena Boyd, Angie Boyd and Yancy Boyd, all of Los Angeles, and Lisa Boyd of Ypsilante, Mich.; and grandchildren Keith Hall and Natasha and Yulanni Osinowo.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Oceanside Mortuary.

Minnie Pritchard, 87
ENCINITAS - Minnie L. Pritchard, 87, died Saturday, June 11, 2000, at her home.
Born April 4, 1913, in Paola, Kan., she lived in Encinitas for 40 years and had been in San Diego County for 48 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Pritchard was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, George "Fritz" Pritchard, in 1996. She is survived by her sons, Alvin Eugene Pritchard of Ramona and Gary Wayne Pritchard of Encinitas; daughter Marcia Pritchard-Leonard of Vista; grandchildren Danny, Denise and Wendy Pritchard; great-grandchildren Nathan and Cody Pritchard; and a large extended family.
A private family service and cremation will be held.

Alfred Martinez, 69
VISTA - Alfred V. Martinez, 69, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 11, 1930, in Bonsall, he lived in Vista. He worked for the civil service at Camp Pendleton, retiring in 1989. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of St. Marcus in San Marcos and BPOE 1561 in Oceanside.
Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his son, Richard Martinez, in September 1999. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Martinez of Vista; sons and daughter-in-law Joe and Terri Martinez of Anza and David Martinez of Vista; daughters and son-in-law Kathryn Hearn and Doris Martinez, both of Temecula, Sandra and Ronald Williams of Vista and Marlene Martinez of Leucadia; sisters and brothers-in-law Christina and Louie Gonzales and Mary and Hank Diaz, both of Oceanside.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Burt Boudoin officiating. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Marcos, with the Rev. Boudoin officiating. Interment icon will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Rowena Hanson, 64
ESCONDIDO - Rowena Hanson, 64, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in Santa Monica.
Born Jan. 5, 1936, in Start, La., she lived in Escondido for one year. She was the owner/operator of horse boarding stables in San Juan Capistrano.
Mrs. Hanson is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ronald B. Hanson of Escondido; sons Randy Hanson and Roland Hanson, both of Escondido, and Rick Hanson and Rusty Hanson, both of San Juan Capistrano; daughters Robin Cresswell of Friedensburg, Pa., and Roxanne Euhus of Escondido; brother Charles W. Slocum of Wellton, Ariz.; sisters Jane Provence of Springerville, Ariz., Phyllis Strickland of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Sheila Brugh of Phoenix; and 15 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Felicita Ward, with Bishop Kyle Denning officiating. Interment icon will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego.

David Barber, 89
ESCONDIDO - David Stuart Barber, 89, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Jan. 24, 1911, in Williken, Colo., he lived in Escondido for 50 years. He was a self-employed general contractor.
Mr. Barber is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Harry D. and Linda Barber of Valley Center, David Lee and Mary Jo Barber of Escondido and Karl G. Barber of California; brother Duane Barber of Greeley, Colo.; sisters Hazel Barber of Washington, Lucy Rieder of California and Mary Albert of Cedaredge, Colo.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ralph Johnson officiating. Burial will take place after the service at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Delfina Cervantes, 84
FALLBROOK - Delfina Cervantes, 84, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, from complication of a stroke.
Born Dec. 24, 1915, in Rafael, Michoacan, Mexico, she lived in Fallbrook for 28 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cervantes is survived by her husband of 68 years, Sabino Cervantes of Fallbrook; sons David Cervantes and Abel Cervantes, both of Fallbrook; daughters Trinidad Castro, Biatriz Escobedo and Maria Gonzales, all of Fallbrook, Anita Garcia of Murrieta, Carlota Escobedo of Mexico, Luisa Castillo of Escondido, Teresa Vasquez of Temecula and Martina Calvillo of Lake Elsinore; sister Lupe Escobedo of Mexico; 51 grandchildren; and 101 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., today, June 18, at Berry-Bell & Hall Chapel, with the Rev. Bud Karcher officiating. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday, June 19, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fallbrook, with the Rev. Karcher officiating. Interment icon will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

Clementine Yesulis, 84
CARDIFF - Clementine Yesulis, 84, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in Cardiff.
Born May 2, 1916, in Illinois, she lived in Cardiff for 30 years. She was a member of Saint's Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cardiff and of the Baking Group, Ladies Philoptochos and the Daughters of Penelope.
Mrs. Yesulis was preceded in death by her husband, William Yesulis. She is survived by her sister, Angie Cokins of Cardiff;
sister-in-law and brother-in-law George and Julie Benning of Illinois; and many nephews and nieces.
Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 5 p.m. service, on Sunday, June 18, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, with Theodore Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial donations to Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 3459 Manchester Ave., Cardiff, Ca 92007.

Mary Stott, 94
VISTA - Mary "Peg" Rosevear Stott, 94, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Rancho Vista Health Center.
Born Jan. 1, 1906, in New Jersey, she lived in Vista for 32 years. She was an elementary school teacher for the Madison, N.J. schools for 35 years and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of California and New Jersey and the American Association of University Women, Vista Womens Club, Los Amigos and Grace Presbyterian Church.
No formal service is planned. A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Edward Tholke, 77
CARLSBAD - Edward Thomas Tholke, 77, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at his home.
Born May 29, 1923, in Chicago, he lived in Carlsbad and Oceanside for 20 years. He was an administrative assistant for the National Parent Teachers Association for 25 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Tholke is survived by his wife, Louise Kathryn Tholke of Oceanside; daughters Dorrie Rapp of White River Junction, Texas, and Jill Two Feathers of Oroville; and two grandchildren.
No formal service is scheduled. A private cremation is planned.

Margaret Kress, 86
ESCONDIDO - Margaret M. Kress, 86, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at a local Escondido nursing home.
Born April 21, 1914, in Neidenburg, Germany, she lived in Escondido for 28 years. She worked for Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing co. in West Allis, Wis., retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Kress was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Kress, on Nov. 13, 1997. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Donna Rowan of Escondido; stepdaughters Jermaine Naniot of West Allis and Marlene Gaboldon of Phoenix; sister Christel Burbach of Scottsbluff, Neb.; grandchildren LuAnn Sweeney and Janelle Porter; and great-grandchildren Amber, Michael, Meghan and Katlyn.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Oak Hill Memorial Park, with Matthew Currie officiating.

Leah Hill, 81
RANCHO BERNARDO - Leah Snow Hill, 81, died Thursday, June 15, 2000.
Born May 5, 1919, in New York City, she lived in Rancho Bernardo and had lived in Long Beach for 25 years. She was a medical transcriptionist and served in the U.S. Navy. She was a member of NARFE and Rancho Bernardo Jocelyn Club.
Ms. Hill was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert Snow and Joseph Snow. She is survived by her son, Gordon R. Hill of Rancho Bernardo; and grandchildren Ratana Kamlong of and David and Michael Hill, all of San Diego.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary Chapel.

Alma Bisbines, 76
OCEANSIDE - Alma Ruth Bisbines, 76, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, from complications of cancer, at her home.
Born Oct. 23, 1923, in Goes, Texas, she lived in Oceanside for 23 years. She was a waitress at El Camino Country Club before retiring.
Mrs. Bisbines was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Louis Bisbines; and her son, Richard Louis Bisbines Jr. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Neka and Norman Trout of Oceanside and Catherine Simonson of Fargo, N.D.; son and daughter-in-law Stanley and Marilyn Robertson of Roseville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Oceanside Public Library, 330 N. Coast Highway, Oceanside, CA 92056.

Lawrence Gabrels, 76
OCEANSIDE - Lawrence J. Gabrels, 76, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 29, 1923, in Cornelia, Ga., he lived in San Diego County for 43 years. He was the assistant athletic director for the civil service at Camp Pendleton for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and was past exalted ruler from 1973 to 1974 of BPOE 1561 in Oceanside.
Mr. Gabrels is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Gabrels of Oceanside; brother Frank Gabrels of Clemson, S.C.; sister Jenny Skelly of Fort Meyers, Fla.; sister-in-law Betty Landers of Houston; nephew Donald Landers of Houston; nieces Donna Jose of Ramona and Janet Shomette of Houston; and many friends and Elks family.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel, under the auspices of BPOE 1561 of Oceanside. Interment icon will follow with full military honors.
The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of the North Coast, 5421 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad, CA 92008.

Verna Vogler, 71
ODENTON, Md. - Verna Louise Vogler, 71, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in Odenton, Md., while visiting her son.
Born April 4, 1929, in Colorado Springs, Colo., she lived in San Marcos for 47 years. She was a homemaker for 50 years and a member of Jocelyn Senior Center of San Marcos.
Mrs. Vogler was preceded in death by her husband, Tallbot Eugene Vogler, on March 8, 1998.
She is survived by her sons, Kim E. Vogler of Odenton, Md., and Jeff A. Vogler of Vista; daughter Nancy L. Bartlett of Vancouver, Wash.; brother Donald L. Whittier of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Casitas Del Sol mobile home park in San Marcos.

Marjorie Malkin, 76
LAKE SAN MARCOS - Marjorie Malkin, 76, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born June 3, 1924, in Madera, she lived at Lake San Marcos for 30 years. She was a singer who retired in 1980.
Mrs. Malkin was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Malkin, in 1979. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy Brandt of Sacramento and David Malkin of Rowland Heights.
A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, June 21, at Eternal Hills Chapel, with the Rev. Douglas Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Barbara O'Brien, 59
OCEANSIDE - Barbara Ann O'Brien, 59, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, of pancreatic cancer, at Life Care Center of Vista.
Born April 16, 1941, in Ontario, Canada, she lived in Oceanside for 38 years. She worked in environmental services at Tri-City Medical Center, retiring after 15 years. She was a volunteer for Art Alive and Fraternity House.
Mrs. O'Brien is survived by her son, Michael O'Brien of San Diego; daughter and son-in-law Erin and Randy State of Oceanside; sister Dianne Day of Santee; grandchildren Tyler and Trevor State; niece Suzy Day of Portland, Ore.; and nephew Phillip Day of Santee.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128; or Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.
