RANCHO BERNARDO - John Albert Fostvedt, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Casa de las Campanas in Rancho Bernardo.

Born Oct. 9, 1915, in Holboken, N.J., he lived in the San Diego area for 25 years. He was an air traffic controller before retiring and served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a 2nd class radioman from 1934 to 1940.

Mr. Fostvedt is survived by his wife of 27 years, Norma Fostvedt of Colorado Springs, Colo.; stepson Roger Hamilton of Santa Rosa; brother Bob Fostvedt of Lake Peasant, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Meadowlark Community Church in San Marcos, with Dr. Charley Talley officiating. Inurnment will take follow.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 8880 Rio San Diego, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92108.

Myrtle Corbin, 88

ESCONDIDO - Myrtle Corbin, 88, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Beverly Nursing Center in Escondido.

Born Feb. 8, 1912, in Arkansas, she lived in Escondido since 1996. She was a member of the Order of Amaranth and Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Corbin was preceded in death by her husband, George Corbin. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Brian Murray of Escondido; brother O.H. Smallwood of St. Louis; grandchildren Jan Hart of York, Neb., Terry Stewart of Apple Valley, Rick Hanks of Hemet and Susan Anderson of Moreno Valley; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the C.B. Covell Masonic Lodge, with the Order of Amaranth and Order of the Eastern Star officiating.

Dorothy Williams, 71
ESCONDIDO - Dorothy Williams, 71, died Friday, March 3, 2000, in Escondido.

Born Nov. 4, 1929, in Cudahy, Wis., she lived in Escondido for four years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her sister, Lillian Desho of Hoquiam, Wash.; sister-in-law Alice Alpers of Oakdale; and nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Valley Center Cemetery.

Kevin Wilde, 18

POWAY - Kevin James Wilde, 18, died Thursday, March 2, 2000.

Born Feb. 21, 1982, in Fairbanks, Alaska, he lived in Poway for 13 years. He was a senior at Poway High School and a dock assistant at Lake Poway for one year.

Kevin is survived by his mother and father, Darles L. and Ralph E. Wilde of Poway; brothers Erik J. Wilde of San Diego and Wesley A. Young of Poway; sisters Tara Winters and Jennifer Young, both of Las Vegas; and grandparents Warren and Roberta Wilde of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Robert and Marion Baker of Fairbanks.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today, March 7, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Penasquitos Lutheran Church.

Lucille Edgerton, 82

ESCONDIDO - Lucille S. Edgerton, 82, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.

Born March 12, 1917, in Sheldon, N.D., she lived in Escondido for 29 years. She was the assistant manager for Red River State Bank before retiring.

Mrs. Edgerton is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Lanny Peterson of Escondido; brothers Russel Bueling and Arnold Bueling, both of Sheldon; sisters Leslie Bueling and Dora Lee, both of Fargo, N.D., Lavern Bueling of Sheldon and Florence Tamisiea of Roseville; grandchildren Roger Peterson and Deanne Wasser; and great-grandchildren Timothy Peterson and Halen Wasser.

No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Legion Poppy Fund, J.R. Clark Post 149, PO Box 123, Escondido, CA 92033.

Charles Snow, 89

ESCONDIDO - Charles Snow, 89, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at his home.

Born April 13, 1910, in Sacramento, he lived in Escondido for 22 years. He started Highland Valley Ranch in 1968, the first avocado and citrus grove in the Highland Valley area. He was a member of the Brethren in San Marcos.

Mr. Snow is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vivienne Snow of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law John and Nancy Snow of Escondido; daughter-in-law Susie Snow of Escondido; brother Walter Snow of San Marcos; sister Mable Lane of Placerville; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, at Church of the Brethren in San Marcos. A private burial is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to St. Claire's Home, 2091 E. Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92025.

Elsie Stryson, 93

FALLBROOK - Elsie Margaret Stryson, 93, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Irvine Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 27, 1906, in California, she lived in Fallbrook for 70 years. She worked for Fallbrook Unified School District before retiring and was a 50-year member of the Fallbrook Eastern Star, Chapter 390.

Mrs. Stryson is survived by her stepson, Roy Stryson of Vista; stepdaughter Loydele Kehler of Mission Viejo; stepgrandchildren Brenda Kehler of Costa Mesa and Eric Stryson of San Francisco; and nephews Jim Campini and Walter Campini, both of Placerville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at Eternal Hills Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Ginoza officiating. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations to Fallbrook Eastern Star, Chapter 390, Scholarship Fund, PO Box 2044, Fallbrook, CA 92088.

Lillian Carpenter, 95

POWAY - Lillian Marshall Carpenter, 95, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Villa Pomerado Convalescent Center.

Born Feb. 6, 1905, in King County, Ill., she lived in Poway for 29 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Calvin Marshall, in 1982. She is survived by her son, Richard Marshall of San Marcos; daughter Betty Macdonald of San Marcos; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service is planned. Burial will take place at a later date at Inglewood Park Cemetery.

Dorothy Crowner, 86

ESCONDIDO - Dorothy Elizabeth Crowner, 86, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at her home.

Born July 28, 1913, in Dubuque, Iowa, she lived in Escondido for 25 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Crowner was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Crowner, in 1990. She is survived by her sons, Charles E. Bradley, Willie Bradley, Ronnie Bradley and Lee Bradley, all of Escondido, James Patrick Bradley of Canby, Ore., and Paul Bradley of Ramona; daughters Sally Walker of Keokuk, Iowa, and Joanne Pollard of San Diego; sister Gertrude Porter of Washington; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held at 10 a.m. today, March 7, at North County Cremation. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. today at Calvary Assembly in Escondido.

Harry Hanson, 80

VISTA - Harry William Hanson, 80, died Friday, March 3, 2000, in Oceanside.

Born March 3, 1920, in Berthoud, Colo. he lived in Vista for 13 years. He was a teacher at the Orange Unified School District for 32 years.

Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife, Ruth I. Hanson of Vista; stepsons Eric T. Liebe of Phoenix, Ariz., and Brian E. Liebe of Vista; stepdaughters Maria Alana Ross of Laguna Niguel, Sylvia T. Propes and Barbara K. Cropp, both of Long Beach, and Louise Kuhnert of Irvine; brother Edwin Hanson of Denver; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at First Lutheran Church of Vista; A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Steve Awbrey officiating. Interment icon will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Fort Collins, Colo.

Hugh Marlin, 87

CARDIFF - Hugh A. Marlin, 87, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Scripps Ocean View Convalescent Hospital in Encinitas.

Born Nov. 20, 1912, in Springfield, Mo., he lived in Cardiff for 23 years. He managed La Sierra University Market in Riverside for 21 years.

Mr. Marlin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen J. Marlin of Cardiff; son and daughter-in-law Ron and Virgincita Marlin of Encinitas; and grandson James Marlin of Rancho Bernardo.

A private service was held. Entombment took place at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Oceanside Seventh-day Adventist Church School, 1943 California St., Oceanside, CA 92054.

John Crossman, 88

LAKE SAN MARCOS - John Hilton Crossman, 88, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Las Villas de Carlsbad Health Center.

Born Aug. 20, 1911, in Chicago, he lived at Lake San Marcos for 27 years. He was an electrical engineer for the city of Chicago and served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.

Mr. Crossman is survived by his wife of 40 years, Doreen M. Crossman of Lake San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law John H. Jr. and Elsie Crossman of Seattle; daughters and son-in-law Ellen C. and Michael P. McGrath of Winfield, Ill., and Ann Crossman of Lincolnshire, Ill.; sister Phyllis V. Ling of Richmond, Ind.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Vista, with the Rev. Richard A. Wagner officiating. Inurnment will follow at All Saints Episcopal Church Columbarium in Vista.

Antonia Velazquez, 42

SAN MARCOS - Antonia Velazquez, 42, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, of colon cancer, at her home.

Born Jan. 17, 1958, in Guerrero, Mexico, she lived in San Marcos for 25 years. She worked for Smith and Nephew Donja before retiring and was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Velazquez is survived by her husband of 22 years, Elias Velazquez of San Marcos; mother Jeronima Castro of Guerrero; son Elias Velazquez Jr. of San Marcos; daughters Patricia Velazquez, Brenda Velazquez and Yolanda Velazquez, all of San Marcos; brothers Tomas Leon, Adulfo Leon, Pastor Leon, Inigo Leon and Bernardo Leon, all of San Marcos; sisters Elvia Leon, Herlinda Leon, Modesta Leon, Ricarda Leon and Joaquina Leon, all of San Marcos; and grandson Carlos Hernandez Jr.

Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. today, March 7, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. Viewing will also be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at St. Mark's Catholic Church. CARLSBAD - Ruth Bullington-Justus, 71, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at her home in Carlsbad.

Born Nov. 16, 1928, in St. Louis, she lived in Carlsbad for 45 years. She was a homemaker and a volunteer at Tri-City Medical Center.

Mrs. Bullington-Justus is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Bullington Jr. of Washington, John and Dora Bullington of Del Mar, David and Debbie Bullington of Escondido and Stephen and Roberta Bullington of San Francisco; daughters and son-in-law Cindy Wood of Oceanside and Barbara and Bill Edwards and Carol Bullington, all of Carlsbad; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. Rob Tribby officiating. Interment icon will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Kenneth Brenner, 56

ESCONDIDO - Kenneth Gene Brenner, 56, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at U.C. San Diego Burn Center from burns suffered in an explosion.

Born Sept. 2, 1943, in Fallbrook, he lived in Escondido for 56 years. He was a courtesy driver and worked for Beaudry RV, Car Quest, Jack Powell, Murray Buick and Superior Ambulance, all in Escondido.

Mr. Brenner was preceded in death by his father, William Eugene Brenner; mother Alma Frances Brenner; and brother, Glen Brenner. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dorothy Brenner of Escondido; sons Dennis Walsh and David Walsh, both of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Michael Walsh of Temecula; daughters Carolyn Comer of Paradise and Susan Cox of Kent, Wash.; brothers Edward Brenner of Escondido, Michael Brenner of Oceanside and William Brenner of Arizona; sisters Barbara Matson of Valley Center and Patricia Warrick of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1051 North Ash in Escondido, with Alex Whaley officiating.
