Daniel Kroeker, 85

ESCONDIDO - Daniel H. Kroeker, 85, died Saturday, March 3, 2001.
Born March 27, 1915, in Turpin, Okla., he lived in Escondido for 61 years.
He was a truck driver for Delta Lines for 34 years. He enjoyed rebuilding cars, camping, traveling, and fishing.
He collected coffee mugs and built birdhouses and chimes.
Mr. Kroeker is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sara D. Kroeker of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Evelyn Kroeker of Escondido; grandchildren Jack and Jeff Kroeker, Penny Roper and Kara Fuerst; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Pete Mayfield officiating.
Alhiser-Comer Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Russell Smith, 78

OCEANSIDE - Russell E. Smith, 78, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, of natural causes.
Born Oct. 21, 1922, in St. Louis, he lived in Oceanside for 25 years.
He retired from the federal government in 1972. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 1561, San Luis Rey Shrine Clubmaster Mason Lache Lodge 416, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Association of Federal Retired Employees, Al Bahr Temple and AADNMS of San Diego.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Smith on May 3, 1999.
He is survived by his cousins Mary Ann and Joseph Marino of St. Louis.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel.
A private inurnment is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of the North Coast, 5421 Avenida Encinas, Suite N, Carlsbad, CA 92008.
Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Frank Stauts, 88

BOISE, Idaho - Frank M. Stauts, 88, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, in Boise of cancer.
He moved to Boise in 1990. He had lived in the DeLuz Heights area in Fallbrook and was an avocado farm owner.
He was a member of a pioneer Nevada family. He had been employed in the heavy construction machinery business in Reno, Nev. for years. He enjoyed golf .
Mr. Stauts is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice Stauts; sons Braden, Frank Lynn and Robert and their wives; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
No services will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

Kenneth H. Morse, 52

Kenneth H. Morse, 52, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at his home.
Born March 11, 1914, in Seattle, he lived in Vista for 52 years. He retired in 1972 from civil service at Camp Pendelton as a general foreman. He served faithfully in the U.S. Navy from 1935 to 1945. During World War II, he was on the USS Cincinnati and the USS Lexington and the recipient of a presidential Unit Citation with star and good conduct medal. He was instrumental in the formation of the Vista Chapter of the American Little League in 1956, and president of Vista Pony and Colt Leagues in 1966. Graduating in 1994 with the first class of the San Diego County Sheriff's Volunteer Patrol in Vista he was pleased to served with them. Mr. Morse was an avid fisherman and was deeply loved by his family and greatly appreciated by his friends. He touched the lives of many and was loyal and courageous and always there to help. He dearly loved his wife of 51 years and they are together now. He will be truly missed.
Mr. Morse was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Morse in 1994. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Kenneth C. and Elena Morse of Vista; daughter Susan Morse Clifford of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren Stephanie Pearman of Oceanside, Daniel Clifford of Munich, Germany; and great-grandchildren Jessica Stiffler of Oceanside and Dana Muldowney of Oceanside.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at Eternal Hills. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Eternal Hills.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 2655 Camino Del Rio N, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92108.

LaRece Fix, 82
ENCINITAS - LaRece B. Fix, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Vista.
Born Sept. 4, 1918, in Ryrie, Idaho, she lived in Encinitas for 32 years. She worked at 3D Photo and Appliance. She was a member of the Altar Society at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Mrs. Fix was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Fix in 1997. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Marvin Fix of San Diego, Kenneth and Patricia Fix of Northridge, Brooke and Kathryn Fix of Covina, Patrick Fix of Kurtistown, Hawaii, Nicholas Fix of Pala, and Greg Fix of Encinitas; brother Doke Wages of Henderson, Nev.; sisters Denise Holt of La Jolla and Marie Ballard of La Jolla; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. with Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. today, March 7, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A private inurnment is planned.

Leonila Rodriguez, 41
MURRIETA - Leonila D. Rodriguez, 41, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Rancho Springs Medical Center of breast cancer.
Born Oct. 13, 1959, in Jalisco, Mexico, she lived in Murrieta for three years. She was previously from San Fernando. She was employed by Pacesetter in San Fernando.
Mrs. Rodriguez was preceded in death by sister Gloria Del Toro and brother Jose Guadalupe Del Toro. She is survived by her sons Edward Jr., Adrian, and David, all of Murrieta; sisters, brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 8, at San Fernando Mission. Interment icon will be at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.

Brett Lehr, 38
NEWPORT BEACH - Brett Randell Lehr, 38, died Thursday, March 2, 2001, at his home.
Born Sept. 30, 1962, in Bellflower, he was a longtime resident of Wildomar and moved to Newport Beach two years ago. He graduated from Elsinore High School in 1980. He earned artistic honors while at Elsinore High School and was a trainer in the technology field for computer-aided design and manufacturing of various products. He was an avid musician, playing the guitar. He enjoyed snowboarding.
Mr. Lehr is survived by his parents, Pat and Judy Lehr of Wildomar; brother Mike of Northern California; sisters Kim Miles of Quail Valley and Sarina Lehr of Wildomar daughter Crystal of Grass Valley; son Ian of Newport Beach and one grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today, March 7, at Canyon Lake Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund is being set up for his son.
Private burial services will be held at Wildomar Cemetery. He will be placed next to his younger brother, Aaron.

Clara Dinkins, 88

VISTA - Clara Walcher Dinkins, 88, died Monday, March 5, 2001.
Born Sept. 8, 1912, in Clinton, Wash., she lived in Vista for 30 years.
She retired from Assemblies of God in 1990 and was active in the Women's Missionary Council.
Mrs. Dinkins was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. ³PC² Walcher in 1990, her father Peter Becker in 1945 and mother Gertrude Becker in 1965.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Dinkins of Vista; daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Keith Cain of Oceanside; sister and brother-in-law Henrietta and Jose Franco of Seattle; grandchildren Greg and Dale Cain; and great-grandchildren Gregory Cain Jr. and Matthew Cain.
Visitation is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Vista Assembly of God with the Revs. Steve Myatt and M. Kallevig officiating. Interment icon will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Myatt and Kallevig officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to Women's Ministry at Vista Assembly of God, 290 N. Melrose Dr., Vista, CA 92083.

Beverley Summers, 61

LAS VEGAS - Beverley Summers, 61, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at University Medical Center.
Born Aug. 10, 1939, in Ontario, Canada, she lived in Las Vegas for four years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Summers was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Reta Rohn on March 9, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Glen Summers of Las Vegas; father Chet Rohn of Escondido; sons Glen Summers Jr. of Phoenix and David Summers of Chino; brother Clarke Rohn of La Mirada; and two grandchildren.
Viewing is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today, March 8, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel in Escondido. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Escondido with the Rev. Paul Black officiating. Interment icon will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido.

Richard Ciesielski, 73

NEWPORT, N.C. - Richard Anthony Ciesielski, 73, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Carteret General Hospital.
Mr. Ciesielski was a retired gunnery sergeant from the U.S. Marine Corps. He served a number of years at Camp Pendleton.
Mr. Ciesielski was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia A. Ciesielski and grandchildren Gregory Richard Anthony Ciesielski and Ashley Elizabeth Ciesielski.
He is survived by his sons Gregory Richard Ciesielski of Havelock, N.C. and Donald F. Ciesielski of York, Maine; daughters Wanda A. Baxter of Lee, N.H., and Carol M. Housewright of Vista; sister Rose Brudek of Buffalo, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock, N.C. with the Rev. Peter McKeown officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Ronald McDonald House at UNC, 101 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

Frank Andersen, 77

VISTA - Frank R. Andersen, 77, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001.
Born Aug. 7, 1923, in Salem, Mass., he lived in Lake San Marcos and Vista for 35 years. He graduated from Harvard in 1948, and then served as a communications officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. His service included World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired as a major after 24 years of service.
He was an elementary teacher in the Pauma Valley School District as well as the district's superintendent for 18 years.
Mr. Andersen is survived by his ex-wife, Betty Andersen of Oceanside; sons and daughter-in-law Kirk Andersen of Vista, Craig and Jana Andersen of Wichita, Kan., Cory and Debbie Andersen of Vista; daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Doug Ward of Oceanside and Kathy and William Valdez of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Dana and Gwen Andersen of Boulder, Colo.; and 12 grandchildren.
Private family services are planned with ashes scattered at sea.

William Bosland, 83

VISTA - William Bosland, 83, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at his home.
Born Jan. 26, 1918, in Haledon, New Jersey, he lived in Vista for 35 years. He was a letter carrier for 27 years with the United States Postal Service, the last 12 years he was with the Vista Post Office.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Bosland is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maudine Bosland of Vista; son Paul Bosland of Las Cruces, N.M.; daughter Elizabeth Terrien of Santee; and grandchildren Brian and Katie Terrien, both of Santee and Emily and William Bosland of Las Cruces.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at Allen Bros. Mortuary, Vista Chapel with the Rev. Sam Brumit of Palomar Christian Church in San Marcos officiating.
A private cremation is planned with inurnment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.

Victoria Monti, 46

VISTA - Victoria Jean Monti, 46, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Sunbridge Vista Knoll.
Born Dec. 4, 1954, in Cincinnati, she lived in Vista for 20 years. She was a clerk at Von's grocery store for 13 years.
Ms. Monti is survived by her mother, Deidre Matthias of Vista; daughters Christine Gilbert of Carlsbad and Katherine Freeman of Aguanga; sister Leslie S. Albert of Anza; and paternal grandmother Myrtle DeCastro of Santa Rosa.
No formal services are planned. A private cremation is planned with burial at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.

Dutch Solomon, 89

ORANGE COUNTY - Dutch ³Ferrin² Solomon, 89, died Feb. 26, 2001.
Born June 16, 1911, in Los Angeles, he lived in Oceanside for more than 35 years. He owned Dutch's Jewelers in Oceanside. He graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz., in 1935 with a major in zoology. He served as Red Cross Field Director in Germany after World War II. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed baseball, tennis, bowling and golf. He was a member of Oceanside Elks and Optimist Club. He was active with the Oceanside Pirates Booster Club.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in the Garden Room at the El Camino Country Club in Oceanside.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations in Mr. Solomon's name to the Jr. Golf Association S.C. PGA Foundation, 601 S. Valencia Ave., Brea, CA 92823.
