SAN MARCOS - Antonio E. Vanoni, 78, died Wednesday, May 25, 2000, at a local convalescent home.
Born July 27, 1921, in Dixieland, he lived in San Marcos for 44 years. He was a plumber for Fred J. Carpenter Plumbing for 25 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Vanoni is survived by his wife, Otilia P. Vanoni of San Marcos; sons and daughter-in-law Anthony G. and Linda Vanoni and Eugene Vanoni, all of San Marcos, and James A. Vanoni of San Francisco; daughters and sons-in-law Patricia A. and Michael McComas of Chula Vista and Kathleen and Wesley Hopkins of Vista; brother and sister-in-law Mario and Maria Vanoni of Brawley; half brother, Gaston and wife Sharon Vanoni of Yuma, Ariz., and Victorio and wife Peggy Vanoni of Laguna Niguel; half sisters Giacomina Gray and Gloria and husband Don Ellingwood, all of El Cajon; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A private cremation with interment will be held.
The family suggests memorial donations to Vitas Hospice, 1880 Rio San Diego Road, Suite 950, San Diego, CA 92108.

Oliver Crews, 61
FELLSMERE, Fla. - Oliver John Crews Jr., 61, died Friday, May 26, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 22, 1938, in Jacksonville, Fla., he lived at Camp Pendleton before moving to Fellsmere in 1980. He was a major in the U.S. Marine Corps before retiring after 23 years. He was owner-operator of the Crews Cloverleaf Cattle Ranch in Fellsmere and a member of the Florida Cattleman Association, the Florida Sheriff's Association, the Patrick Aero Club, the Florida Aero Club of Vero Beach, Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association and the Florida Farm Bureau.
Mr. Crews is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Crews; mother Jessie Grace Crews Amendola of Deland, Fla.; daughters Cheryl Lynne Kindler of Fallbrook and Kimberly Faye Quigley of Vero Beach, Fla.; brother Clifford James Crews of Jacksonville; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, May 31, at First Baptist Church in Fellsmere. Interment icon will take place at Fountainhead Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 4356 Fortune Place, West Melbourne, FL 32904; or The Children's Home, c/o Fellsmere Historic Church, PO Box 997, Fellsmere, FL 32948.

Cristina Dewgaw, 19
RAMONA - Cristina Marie Dewgaw, 19, died Friday, May 26, 2000, in a traffic accident in Ramona.
Born Nov. 24, 1980, in Panorama City, she lived in Ramona for seven years. She graduated from Ramona High School in 1999, where she was a member of the swim team. She was a student at Grossmont College studying to become a school counselor. She worked at Ramona Fitness Center.
Mrs. Dewgaw is survived by her mother and father, Claudia and Tom Dewgaw of Ramona; sister Audrey Dewgaw of Ramona; and grandparents, uncles and aunts.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at Bonham Bros. & Lee Ramona Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Clement officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to Dollars for Scholars, Cristina Dewgaw Memorial Fund, c/o Ramona High School, 1401 Hanson Lane, Ramona, CA 92065.

Donna Hogan, 71
RAMONA - Donna R. Hogan, 71, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at a San Diego hospital.
Born April 7, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she lived in San Diego County since 1957. She was a cook for Grossmont School District for 12 years and a member of the Ramona Woman's Club, the Intermountain Republican Women's Club, the Ramona Senior Center and the First Congregational Church. She served twice as Worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Hogan is survived by her husband of 51 years, Patrick D. Hogan of Ramona; sons and daughters-in-law Dennis and Angie Hogan of Santee and Richard and Kathy Hogan of Ramona; daughter Bonnie Gonzalez of Lemon Grove; brother Robert Allen; sister Phyllis Cole; grandchildren Deanna Onori, Daniel, Nicole, Michael and Sean Hogan and Douglas and Jeremy Gonzalez; and Alexis and Kaylie Brown.
Viewing till be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Bonham Bros. & Lee Ramona Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Gary Bassham officiating.

Evelyn Curtis, 86
INDIO - Evelyn F. Curtis, 86, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Indio Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Indio.
Born Aug. 15, 1913, in Omaha, Neb., she lived in Indio. She was a salesperson for Buzza-Cardoza Greeting Cards for 15 years and served in the U.S. Navy.
Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Curtis, in December 1999.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, at Mission San Luis Rey. A private interment is planned.

Gus Brewer, 70
DEL MAR - Augustus E. Brewer, 70, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, of prostate cancer, in Del Mar.
Born May 21, 1930, in Appalachia, Kentucky, he lived in North San Diego County since 1971. He attended the University of Louisville Law School and served in the U.S. Navy and as a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps at El Toro. He was an attack-fighter pilot with Squadron 323 Death Rattlers until 1958. He was a flight instructor at Advanced Flight Training Command in Kingsville, Texas. He earned degrees in finance and real estate at the University of Nevada and worked for Wells Fargo Bank as a loan and branch manager until 1974. He worked as a business manager and field superintendent for small construction firms until 1975. He sold coastal real estate until 1999.
Mr. Brewer is survived by his son, Jacob Lane Brewer of Solana Beach; daughter and son-in-law Celia Ashley Brewer and Vincent M. Fox of Cardiff; stepdaughter Lisa Ashley Brewer of Redwood City; grandchildren Dane Fox and Spencer Jacob Fox; and other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family at 1 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Del Mar Shores Clubhouse.

Mary Anderson, 82
OCEANSIDE - Mary Ellen Anderson, 82, died Friday, May 26, 2000, at her home.
Born Nov. 23, 1917, in California, she lived in Oceanside for 32 years. She worked for Sandy Shore Trailer Park for 25 years.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Glen Anderson, in 1975. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Neil and Karen Anderson of New Castle and Jerry Anderson of La Jolla; grandchildren Matt Anderson, Pamela Anderson, David Anderson, Sandra Andiorio and husband Lou and Donna Anderson; and great-granddaughter Kayla Anderson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, at Eternal Hills Chapel, with the Rev. David Plank officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Sadie Powell, 88
OCEANSIDE - Sadie Marie Powell, 88, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Pleasant Care of Vista.
Born July 3, 1911, in North Dakota, she lived in Oceanside.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband of 40 years, John A. Powell of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Elvin and Anne Hanson of Alexandria, Mass.; and sister Vivian Pescar of Vista.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased.

Eugene Wolberg, 52
VISTA - Eugene J. Wolberg, 52, died Friday, May 26, 2000, in Vista.
Born Oct. 27, 1947, in Dickinson, N.D., he lived in Vista. He worked for the city of Vista.
Mr. Wolberg is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rena Wolberg of Vista; mother and father, Mildred and Joseph Wolberg of North Dakota; sons Jonathan Wolberg and Christopher Wolberg, both of Vista; brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Estelle Wolberg of North Dakota; and sister and brother-in-law Donna and Rob King of North Dakota.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Horizon Christian Fellowship in Clairemont A private cremation is planned.

Grace Bullen, 73
SAN MARCOS - Grace M. Bullen, 73, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born Sept. 7, 1926, in Ontario, she lived in San Marcos for two years. She was an elementary school teacher in Ontario, Laguna Beach and Virginia, and taught at Beaumont School in Vista for 30 years before retiring.
Mrs. Bullen is survived by her brother, Hugh Miller of Ventura; sister Ruth Collings of Escondido; and nine nephews and nieces.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased.

Norman Stuedeman, 75
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. - Norman William Stuedeman, 75, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Casa Grande.
Born March 6, 1925, in Glencoe, Minn., he lived in Arizona for six years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, retiring as a hospital corpsman. He was a hospital administrator and owned and operated an Arco service station in California. He volunteered as a coach and umpire for Little League.
Mr. Stuedeman was preceded in death by two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary E. Stuedeman of Arizona City, Ariz.; sons Bill Stuedeman and Bill Stuedeman, both of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter Debra Stuedeman Hogue of Vista; brother Edwin Stuedeman of Shakapee, Minn.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in California.

Leslie Potts, 83
VISTA - Leslie Wayne Potts, 83, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at the home of his daughter in Vista.
Born June 13, 1916, in Allegheny, Pa., he lived in Vista for 30 years. He owned and operated Lee's Service Station in Huntington Beach for 25 years and was a cactus and pine tree wholesale grower in Vista for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Potts was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Ruth Potts, in 1998. He is survived by his daughters, Beverly Hall of Vista, Judith D'Arnall of Escondido and Linda Miller of Moreno Valley; grandchildren Terri Hodson, Kevin Hall, Dennis D'Arnall, Darrell D'Arnall, Scott Hall, Dorlynn Gallego, Paul Miller Jr., Steven Miller and Katie Miller; and great-grandchildren Bryan D'Arnall, Emilee D'Arnall, Donnie D'Arnall, and Douglas D'Arnall.
A private family service was held Sunday, May 21, in Moreno Valley.

Phillip Goddard, 53
RAMONA - Phillip D. Goddard, 53, died Wednesday, May 24, in a car accident on Highway 67 in Ramona.
Born Nov. 15, 1946, in Waukegan, Ill., he lived in Ramona for 10 years. He was a property manager for Genesee Highlands for 20 years and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963 to 1977.
Mr. Goddard is survived by his wife, Susan Royal Goddard of San Diego Country Estates in Ramona.
A private service is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the San Diego Wild Animal Park; 15500 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, CA 92027-7017; or the San Diego Humane Society, 887 Sherman, San Diego, CA 92110-4014.

Neil Jones, 76
RANCHO BERNARDO - Neil Clifford Jones, Jr., 76, died Friday, May 26, 2000.
Born Jan. 19, 1924, in Covington, Ky., he lived in Rancho Bernardo for nine years. He was ab electrical engineer for Lockheed Martin Aerospace Missiles manufacturer for 50 years before retiring and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Triangle Club, San Diego Chapter and the Los Viejos Bowling Club of Escondido.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Younger of Rancho Bernardo; son Neil N. Jones of Melbourne, Fla.; daughters Leslie Stuker of Gainesville, Fla., Laura Swann of Austin, Texas, and Allison Jones of Houston; sister Madge Stoms of Indian Harbour, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Carlos Johnson, 79
ESCONDIDO - Carlos Sigfrid Johnson, 79, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at his home in Escondido.
Born Sept. 17, 1920, in Wahoo, Neb., he lived in Escondido for 26 years. He was a plant manager for he Salk Institute for 13 years and worked for Ryan Aeronautical for 22 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946 and flew flights with Charles Lindberg as instrumentation technician for Ryan Aeronautical. He also worked for Henry Ford.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brother, Waldemar Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sammy H. Johnson of Escondido; sons Carlos S. Johnson Jr. of New York, Steven R. Johnson of San Francisco, Stephen E. Krzywicki of Spring Valley, Robert David Krzywicki of Arizona and Ed a. Krzywicki of Escondido; daughters Judy Henry and Jo Beth Henry, both of San Diego; brother Ardath Johnson of Poway; sister Miriam Linnerson of Colorado; eight grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 1, at McLeod Mortuary, Escondido Chapel, with Deacon Tom Maher officiating. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Peter Navarro officiating. A private burial will take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Edith Krizan, 85
SAN MARCOS - Edith Hilda Krizan, 85, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Feb. 14, 1915, in Toronto, Canada, she lived in San Marcos for 25 years. She was a clerk for the county Health & Human Services Agency and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mrs. Krizan is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Krizan of San Marcos; son John Krizan of San Diego; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Jim Priddy of San Diego, Bonnie and Don Heisel of San Marcos, Beverly and Harold Virgin of Frederick, Md., and Edit and Tom Grandys of Escondido; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 31, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Felicita Road in Escondido. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. A private interment is planned.

George Vicars, 91
VISTA - George Howard Vicars,, 91, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his home in Vista.
Born Jan. 22, 1909, in Aurora, Ind., he lived in Vista for 19 years. He was a typesetter for the Long Beach Press Telegram for 35 years, retiring in 1963. He was a member of the International Typesetter's Union and a lifetime member of the Masons.
Mr. Vicars is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nellie J. Vicars of Vista; son Byron George of Gig Harbor, Wash.; daughter Susan Buxton of Ladson, S.C.; brothers Owen L. Vicars and Robert L. Vicars, both of Indianapolis, and Earl Vicars of Fairfield; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
No formal service is scheduled. A private cremation is planned.
