OCEANSIDE - Shirley Skelton, 87, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Life Care Center of Vista.
Born Sept. 5, 1913, in Meridian, Miss., she lived in Oceanside for 24 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Collander is survived by her husband of 63 years, Olen Skelton of Oceanside; daughters and son-in-law Gail Swenson of Oceanside and Elaine and Paul Collander of Rancho Bernardo; sisters and brother-in-law Elizabeth Johnston, Quida McMullan and Olga and Wilson Valentine, all of Meridian; grandchildren Brian Collander of Rancho Bernardo, Victoria Lauer of Portland, Ore., and Bonnie Dunkin of Las Vegas; and five great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.

Edna Svee, 75
VISTA - Edna Olive Svee, 75, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at her home.
Born Feb. 5, 1925, in Van Buren, Ark., she lived in Vista for 11 years. She was a self-employed real estate broker for 15 years.
Mrs. Svee is survived by her husband, Roy A. Svee of Vista; son James Howard of Vista; daughters Paul Molta of Carlsbad, Deborah Mardesich of Fullerton, Linda Grey of Pico Rivera and Mariann Morrett of Van Buren; sisters Sue Bare of Van Buren, Mary Lou Driggers of Fort Smith, Ark., and Alice Fischer of Canton, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
No formal service will be held. A private cremation is planned with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.

Rachel Golemon, 87
OCEANSIDE - Rachel Ann Golemon, 87, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at her home in Oceanside.
Born Sept. 23, 1913, in Hot Springs, Ark., she lived in Southern California since 1960, spending a few of those years in Bothell, Wash. She lived in North County since 1985 and in Oceanside for the past four years.
Mrs. Goleman was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Lois Lou Longet of Oceanside; brothers Paul Weston of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Cletus Weston of Carlsbad, N.M.; sisters Vica Moore of Tescumseh, Okla., Strilla Christian of Lovington, N.M., and Ruth Golemon of Artesia, N.M.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will beheld from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery. A reception will follow at Mission San Luis Rey Sacred Gardens.
The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of the North Coast, 5421 Avenida Encinas, Suite N, Carlsbad, CA 92008.

Virginia Stanley, 77
OCEANSIDE - Virginia Marian Stanley, 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation.
Born Oct. 27, 1922, in Otis, Colo., she lived in Oceanside for 19 years. She was a teller for the Bank of America.
Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Stanley, this year. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Irvin Mumy of Mead, Colo.; nephew Dr. William and wife Holly Walker of Martinez; and nieces Susan and husband Randy Acker of Sun Valley, Idaho, Joyce and husband Dennis Mutcher of Mead.
A memorial service will be held at a later time for her and her husband. A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

William Raney, 78
ESCONDIDO - William Rodney Raney Jr., 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan. 15, 1922, in New York City, he lived in Escondido for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 through 1967 before retiring and worked as an electrician for 20 years.
Mr. Raney was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Raney, in 1998. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William R. III and Pam Raney of San Diego; sister Jayne Sroginis of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and grandchildren Dan and Jim Raney.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary Chapel. A private interment will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Lung Association, PO Box 3879, San Diego, CA 92163-1879.

Mark Brennan, 55
CARLSBAD - Mark Purcell Brennan, 55, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, of cancer, in San Diego.
Born Nov. 7, 1944, in Corning, N.Y., he lived in Carlsbad for 30 years. He was a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy and graduated from Regis High School, Holy Cross College and New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry.
Dr. Brennan was preceded in death by his father, Edward J. Brennan. He is survived by his mother, Helen P. Brennan of San Diego.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, with the Rev. Alan Sullivan officiating. Inurnment will follow.

Margaret Brunjes, 87
MURRIETA - Margaret Brunjes, 87, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Beverly Health Care in Murrieta.
Born Sept. 28, 1913, in Wallhofin, Germany, she lived in Murrieta for five years. She was a homemaker for 65 years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and taking care of her dogs.
Mrs. Brunjes is survived by her son, George Brunjes of Murrieta; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Stutzmann R. & Sons Mortuary in New York. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in New York.
The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of the Valley, PO Box 686, Sun City, CA 92586.

Jeffery Martin, 42
TWENTYNINE PALMS - Jeffery Dean Martin, 42, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, of cancer, at his home.
Born Oct. 27, 1957, in Vallejo, he lived in Riverside County for 12 years. He was a sergeant major of Headquarters Battalion for the U.S. Marine Corps in Twentynine Palms, having served from 1976 to 2000. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling and listening to country music.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Debra Martin of Twentynine Palms; daughter Kasey Martin of Twentynine Palms; sons James Martin of Phoenix, and Billy Martin of Twentynine Palms; parents Andy and Helen Martin of Napa; and brother Greg Martin of Napa.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Oct. 13, at Evans Brown Sun City Mortuary. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 5.

Marjorie Pilcher, 77
VISTA - Marjorie J. Pilcher, 77, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 29, 1922, in San Diego, she lived in Vista for 50 years.
Mrs. Pilcher was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Brown, in 1999. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Norman Joe and Mary Brown of Fallbrook and Richard Hemphill of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Charlet and Lucio Baca of Vista and Dawn and George Hesse of Escondido; grandchildren Barbara and Bobby Brown, Susan Tyler, Jeanie Hill, Mary Cruz, Dane, Eric and Eden Hesse, Michael and David Brown and Jason and Carrie Hemphill; great-grandchildren Jessica and Michael Cruz, LeeAnn Baternik, Cindy and Sarah Tyler and Amber Johnson; and great-great-grandchildren Bryan Johnson.
A private cremation is planned.

Donald Armbruster, 77
CANYON LAKE - Donald G. Armbruster, 77, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan. 14, 1923, in Cincinnati, he lived in Canyon Lake for eight years. He worked for Murray Co. Mechanical Contractors as executive vice president before partial retirement. He also served as a project manager before retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Saratoga during World War II. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, reading and spending time with his family.
Mr. Armbruster is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice A. Armbruster; daughters and son-in-law Carolyn Sliker of Costa Mesa and Cheryl and Randy Gunter; son and daughter-in-law Donald Jr. and Karol Armbruster; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service with burial was held Monday, Sept. 18, at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, in Los Angeles.

Bernard Botello, 82
MURRIETA - Bernard J. Botello, 82, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, of a stroke, at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta.
Born March 12, 1918, in Hutchinson, Kan., he lived in Murrieta for 12 years. He was a boiler machinist at NASSCO in San Diego for 20 years before retiring in 1980 and served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant in the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Botello is survived by his wife, Josephine Botello of Murrieta; sons Paul Botello Sr. of Temecula and Gregory Botello of Vista; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Stout Family Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Temecula Cemetery.

Sonya Lees, 63
FALLBROOK - Sonya Ackley Lees, 63, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at her home.
Born May 5, 1937, in Battle Creek, Mich., she lived in Fallbrook for 11 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Lees is survived by her husband, Leonard J. Lees of Fallbrook; sons Leonard J. Lees Jr. of Whittier and Robert J. Lees of San Diego; daughters Mary Gilbert of San Diego and Sara Cade of Huntington Beach; brothers Ray Ackley of New York and Michael D. Ackley of Salt Lake City; and seven grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 7, at Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster.

Pansy Prescott, 86
SAN MARCOS - Pansy I. Prescott, 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born April 26, 1914, in Mendota, Mo., she lived in San Marcos for 27 years. She was a homemaker and held a teaching certificate from the state of Wyoming, where she taught part time. She worked for a convalescent home in Compton and a board and care home in Escondido, for a total of 12 years. She was a day care helper for elders in her mobile home park in San Marcos and a founding member of the Palomar Christian Church in San Marcos. She was voted best member on her high school basketball team and best in the state championships in 1931.
Mrs. Prescott was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene B. Prescott, on Oct. 20, 1968. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Dottie and Jerry Swanger Sr. of Escondido; brother Charles "Chip" Albee of Ponca City, Okla.; grandchildren Jerry, Mark and Jeff Swanger and Lisa and husband Jeff Koonce; great-grandchildren Shaunda, Michelle, Nicole, Jason and Stephen; great-great-grandson Christopher; and 42 nieces and nephews.
Visitation and viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at McLeod Mortuary. A celebration of life will follow at 10 a.m. at the mortuary, with the Rev. Sam Brumit of Palomar Christian Church of San Marcos officiating. A private family burial will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Inglewood Park Cemetery.

OCEANSIDE - Montano Valdeconza Tubes, 59, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born March 25, 1941, in the Philippines, he lived in Oceanside for nine years.
Mr. Tubes is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Montana and Rosalie Tubes of San Diego and Thomas Tubes and Anthony Tubes, both of Oceanside; brothers Bonifacio Tubes and Elvie Tubes, both of the Philippines; and grandson Joshua Tubes.
Visitation and viewing will be held and a rosary recited between 4 and 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel. A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the mortuary, with the Rev. Kieffer officiating. Interment icon will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Lee Zonruiter, 90
RANCHO BERNARDO - Lee Zonruiter, 90, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in San Diego.
Born Nov. 9, 1909, in the Netherlands, he lived in Rancho Bernardo for 11 years. He was an executive for France Airlines and KLM for 35 years. He was a soccer player and golfer.
Mr. Zonruiter is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kelley Zonruiter of Rancho Bernardo; daughter Wiesje Van Wyck of New Bern, N.C.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.

Helen Richdale, 85
ESCONDIDO - Helen May Richdale, 85, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000.
Born March 8, 1915, in New York, she lived in Escondido for 22 years. She was a homemaker and a volunteer for a hospital in Las Cruces, N.M. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, oil painting, line dancing and was involved in the Oasis program.
Mrs. Richdale is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harry Richdale of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Judith and Robert Greenberg of Santa Clarita; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Luisa Richdale of San Marcos; grandchildren Ellen Greenberg Como of Valencia and Jack Greenberg and wife Wendy of Simi Valley, Michael and Philip Richdale of Germany; and great-grandchildren Heather Greenberg and Jeffrey Greenberg, both of Simi Valley and Cody Como and Clint Como, both of Valencia.
A memorial service is pending.

Christine Hawkins, 61
OCEANSIDE - Christine Hawkins, 61, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at the home of her daughter.
Born April 25, 1939, in Brookhaven, Miss., she lived in Oceanside for one year. She was the owner of a dollar store.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her former husband of 42 years, Jesse R. Hawkins of Greenville, Miss.; mother Edna Mae Lyons of Key West, Fla.; sons Michael Hawkins of Jacksonville, Fla., and Marvin Keith Hawkins of Greenville, Miss.; daughters and son-in-law Demethra Sutton and Valerie Zoe Moore, both of Greenville, Yolanda Hawkins of Miami and Debra and Tilus Webster of Oceanside; brothers K.C. Lyons, George Lyons and Kalvin Lyons, all of Key West, and Willie Lyons of Florida; sisters Augustine Lyons, Gloria Lyons and Linda Lyons, all of Key West; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.

Emil Marquardt, 69
OCEANSIDE - Emil Polu Marquardt, 69, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000.
Born May 31, 1931, in Malie, Western Samoa, he lived in Oceanside for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring as a master sergeant in 1970, having served in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Chosin Few, Aloha Chapter. He also worked for the civil service at Fallbrook Naval Weapon Station before retiring. He was a high school football fan.
Mr. Marquardt was preceded in death by his daughter, Francell Marquardt, in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nancy Marquardt of Oceanside; sons and daughters-in-law Peter and Betty Ann Marquardt and Kimo and Susan Marquardt; daughters and sons-in-law Luana and Carl Vogelsang, Martha Marquardt and Janalle and Chad Morris; brothers and sister-in-law Eugene Marquardt and Edward and Rita Marquardt; sisters Lucy Ah Ching, Julie Poore and Victoria Marquardt; and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Edson Range Chapel at Camp Pendleton.
