SAN MARCOS - Helen Elizabeth Drews, 88, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at her home.
Born April 10, 1912, in Erie, N.D., she lived in San Marcos since 1974. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making "Helen's Happy Flowers" for visitors to Jocelyn Senior Center.
Mrs. Drews is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter Drews; son Walter Fredrick Drews Jr. of Bend, Ore.; daughter Yvonne Helen Richer of Bend; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at San Marcos Lutheran Church.
The family suggests memorial donations with checks payable to the City of San Marcos, Jocelyn Transportation Program, c/o Walter Drews, 1401 El Norte Parkway, No. 213, San Marcos, CA 92069.

LaRue Birmingham, 61
CARLSBAD - LaRue M. Birmingham, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000.
Born March 18, 1939, in Monrovia, she lived in Carlsbad. She was a health care administrator.
Mrs. Birmingham is survived by four children; four grandchildren; and brother.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Encinitas.

Ellen Rogers, 70
FALLBROOK - Ellen Rogers, 70, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at her home.
Born March 26, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Okla., she lived in Fallbrook for 11 years. She was a clerk/typist for Hughes Aircraft for 21 years.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, Bernie Rogers of Fallbrook; sons Randy Rogers of Alpine and Thomas Rogers of Escondido; daughter Cathy Howard of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers Dick Stieber of Medford, Ore., and Wayne Stieber of Eagle Point, Ore.; sisters Carol Craig of Escondido and Wanda Ginley of Medford; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Allen Bros. Mortuary, Vista Chapel, with Chaplain Donald Starkey officiating. A private cremation is planned with burial to take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Jane Beamer, 81
FALLBROOK - Jane Parker Beamer, 81, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in a small plane crash near Nipton.
Born May 7, 1919, in St. Louis, she lived in Fallbrook. She graduated from Perry High School in Pittsburgh in 1936 and from the College of Wooster in Ohio in 1940. She earned a master's degree in education from Central MIchigan University in 1965. She was president of the Midland Garden Club and a member of the local American Association of University Women and the Midland Women's Club. She received the first award recognizing a Dow wife from Western Division General Manager A.T. Look. She was a supporter of the Fallbrook Music Society, serving as president of the Quarter Notes. She was president of the Angel Society from 1996 to 1998 and helped manage the thrift shop.
Mrs. Beamer was preceded in death by her son, Dave Beamer, in 1994. She is survived by her son, John Beamer; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and David Tsow and Lolly and Greg Cudney; brother-in-law Paul Beamer; and grandchildren Alex and Lauren.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Beamer Memorial Fund, Gault Alumni Center, the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH 44691; or to the Fallbrook Music Society, PO Box 340, Fallbrook, CA 92028.

William Beamer, 82
FALLBROOK - William H. Beamer, 82, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in a small plane crash near Nipton.
Born July 5, 1918, in Apollo, Pa., he lived in Fallbrook. He graduated from South High in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1935 and attended the College of Wooster and completed a master's degree in 1941 at the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 1944 at Ohio State University. He was an associate chemist on the Manhattan project in Los Alamos, N.M., where he investigated polonium. He worked in the embryonic spectroscopy lab at Dow Chemical Co. He was also director of the radiochemistry lab. He served as chairman of the board and CEO of Applied Radiation in Walnut Creek. He was president of the Circle League in Midland and was a president and producer for Teenage Musicals Inc. in Midland.
Mr. Beamer was preceded in death by his son, Dave Beamer. He is survived by his son, John Beamer; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and David Tsow and Lolly and Greg Cudney; brother Paul Beamer; and grandchildren Alex and Lauren.

Helen Johnson, 74
OCEANSIDE - Helen L. Johnson, 74, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born July 27, 1926, in Minnesota, she lived in Oceanside for 30 years. She worked for the city of Carlsbad before retiring in 1988.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Toni Bainville of the Virgin Islands; daughters and sons-in-law Bonnie and Jack Smith and Rene Selleck, all of Minnesota, Mary and Ron McOmber of Sun City and Michelle and Dwayne Pike of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Louis and Faye Lundhagen of Carlsbad; sisters and brothers-in-law Curly Macaskoll of Wisconsin, Mickey and William Bagley of Huntington Beach and Patty Hembree of Oceanside; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A graveside service and burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Naomi Willcott, 84
TEMECULA - Naomi B. Willcott, 84, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, of pulmonary disease, in Riverside.
Born Oct. 30, 1915, in Berry, Ala., she lived in Temecula for 12 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Willcott is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Viglione of Temecula; brothers James Broughton of Jacksonville, Ark., and Joe Broughton of Mountain View, Ark.; sisters Neva Crafford of Navara, Fla., and Lola Taylor of Batesville, Ark.; and granddaughter Kristina Viglione.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at Temecula Cemetery. Burial will follow.

Delores Green, 71
SUN CITY - Delores Green, 71, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, of renal failure.
Born April 26, 1929, she lived in Sun City for four years and had lived in Phoenix. She was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting.
Mrs. Green is survived by her daughter, Beatrice M. Morgan of Henderson, Ark.; sons Raymond Green and Sam Green, both of Perris, and Richard Green of Hemet; brothers Donald Landolf of Chicago and Raymond Landolf of Phoenix; stepsisters Earlene Hofer, Judy Palm, Alfreda Polloreno, all of Lakeside, and Alta Rose of Jacumba; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one cousin.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 28, at Evans Brown Mortuary in Sun City.

Francis McCarty, 59
FALLBROOK - Francis "Butch" McCarty, 59, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at his home.
Born July 17, 1941, in Chamberlin, S.D., he lived in Fallbrook for eight years. He was a truck driver for Pacific Motor Trucking before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. McCarty is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janie McCarty of Fallbrook; mother Maxine E. McCarty of Fallbrook; daughters Colleen G. Marshall and Cathy A. Davis, both of Fallbrook; sisters Belinda J. Conover and Mary Ann Webster, both of Fallbrook; and grandchildren Randall James Coleman Jr., Jacob Francis Coleman, Alexandra Nicole Davis and Cassandra Harley Davis.
A private family service will be held in Fallbrook. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4, in Chamberlin, S.D. Inurnment will take place at the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in Ola, S.D.

William Cole, 82
ESCONDIDO - William Stephen Cole, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 4, 1917, in Garrison, Texas, he lived in Escondido for four years. He was an insurance agent and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle J. Cole. He is survived by his daughters, Janis Elizabeth Emmert of San Diego and Barbara Ann Armstrong of San Antonio, Texas; and caregivers Dolores Marquez, Mary Jo Chambers and Elena Ayala.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, with the Rev. Brad Greiner officiating.

Dorianne Bridgett Garcia, 42
OCEANSIDE - Dorianne Bridgett Garcia, 42, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, of cancer, in Encinitas.
Born July 8, 1958, in Los Angeles, she lived in Oceanside for four years. She worked for Pacific Bell.
Mrs. Garcia is survived by her companion of five years, Philip Hanneman of Oceanside; mother and father, Loretta and Joseph Salazar of Glendora; son Travis Garcia of Oceanside; and brothers and sister-in-law Carlos Medina of Poway and Christopher and Teresa Medina of Chino.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 28, at Eternal Hills Chapel, with David Plank officiating. Inurnment is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Pueblo, Colo.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128.

Roger Williamson, 86
VISTA - Roger A. Williamson, 86, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Life Care Center of Vista.
Born Jan. 7, 1914, in St. Louis, he lived in Vista for 23 years. He was a machinist at Northrop for 30 years before retiring.
Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife, Marilyn Williamson of Vista; sons David Williamson of Ventura, Darryl Williamson of Fresno and Dean Williamson of Vista; daughter Deanna Smith of San Marcos; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Telophase Cremation Society is handling arrangements.

Anna Meyers, 85
OCEANSIDE - Anna M. Meyers, 85, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000.
Born Feb. 7, 1915, in Pittsburgh, she lived in Oceanside for 28 years. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Mrs. Meyers was preceded in death by her husband, Regis Meyers, in 1994. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Julie Meyers of Irvine; brothers and sisters-in-law John and Dina McCloskey and Richard and Carol McCloskey, all of Pittsburgh; and sister Dorothy Westfall of Minneapolis.
A private cremation is planned.

John Williams, 71
OCEANSIDE - John A. Williams, 71, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, of a heart attack, at his home.
Born Aug. 7, 1929, in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, he lived in Oceanside for 33 years. He worked for civil service public works and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 32 years, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars before retiring as a master gunnery sergeant in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lolita Williams of Oceanside; sons and daughter-in-law Frederick and Ester Williams of Germany, and Joseph Williams and Michael Williams, both of Oceanside; daughters Priscilla Williams of Santa Barbara and Maribel Williams of San Diego; sisters and brother-in-law Sylvia and Norbert Rogers of New York and Patricia Williams of the Virgin Islands; and grandchildren Daniel Williams, Adrianna Williams, Isiah Purvis, Frederick Jr. Williams, Christopher Williams and Kayla Williams.
Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

John Rogers, 80
SAN MARCOS - John L. Rogers, 80, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, of cardiac arrest, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Oct. 14, 1920, in Philadelphia, he lived in San Marcos for 26 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years before retiring in 1961 and worked at the San Onofre Nuclear Plant. He was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his mother, Alveratta Stagg, in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Wanda Rogers of San Marcos; nieces Debra Panian and Karen Baker; grandchildren Ashley, Stacy, Melissa, Justin, Chris, Scott and Shawn; and other family, David Baker and Ron Panian.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

Cleland Johnson, 84
SIMI VALLEY - Cleland "Ken" Johnson, 84, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Los Angeles.
Born Dec. 14, 1914, in Shickley, Neb., he lived in Simi Valley for two years and previously lived in North County.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Helen Johnson of Simi Valley; sons and daughters-in-law Bill and Vicki Johnson of Sunland and Jim and Kate Johnson of Norwalk, Conn.; daughter Judy Barrett of Simi Valley; sister Doris Rojeski of Kearney, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.

William Elliot, 90
MURRIETA - William James Elliot, 90, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, in Murrieta.
Born April 12, 1910, in Winchester, Mass., he lived in Murrieta for 21 years. He worked for Pile Drivers Local #2375 for more than 50 years and belonged to the Retired Bridge Warf Dock Builders Union in Wilmington, Del. Mr. Elliot enjoyed golf and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1933 to 1938.
Mr. Elliot is survived by son Michael Elliot of Murrieta; daughters Donna Parun of Rancho Palos Verdes and Sharon Merkert of Dumfries, Va.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 30, at Valley Funeral Home, 42011 A St., Murrieta. Burial will be private at Riverside National Cemetery.

Ann Forrest, 55

OCEANSIDE - Ann Elizabeth Forrest, 55, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, of a brain tumor.
Born Feb. 18, 1945, in Sharon, Penn., she lived in Oceanside for 12 years and had lived in Mission Viejo for 18 years. She was a sales representative for HemoCue Inc. and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and her family and friends.
Mrs. Forrest was preceded in death by her father, Matthew B. Scanlon, on June 14, 1981; her mother, Elanor M. Scanlon, on April 9, 1989; and her sister, Barbara E. Scanlon, on Oct. 7, 1971. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Jeffrey Forrest; sons and daughters-in-law Brady and Mary Augustine of San Clemente, Brian Augustine of Oceanside and Evan Forrest of Laguna Niguel; daughters and sons-in-law Elizabeth Augustine of Lahaina, Amy and Erich Broesel of Aliso Viejo and Wren Forrest of Santa Barbara; brothers and sisters-in-law Matt and Dani Scanlon of Mission Viejo; sisters and brothers-in-law Mary and Ernie Rosales and Patti and Charles Ricci, all of Mission Viejo, and Peggy Scanlon of Laguna Niguel; and grandson Jacob Broesel.
Viewing and a vigil were held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad, with Jayce McClellan officiating. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 31, at the church, with the Rev. Steve McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1821 Adams St., Carlsbad, CA 92008; or Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.
