ESCONDIDO - Audrey Ellen Luikart, 79, died Saturday, April 14, at Palomar Hospital.
Born June 20, 1921, in Detroit, she lived in Escondido since 1995. She graduated from Hazel Park High School in Hazel Park, Mich., in 1940. She served as a Navy WAVE during World War II. She was a member of Women's Golf Association at the Escondido Country Club and attended Community Reformed Church.
Mrs. Luikart is survived by her husband of 54 years, Max Luikart; daughters and sons-in-law Lynne and Bruce Cordes of Escondido, Lorie and Henry Gordon of Denver; and grandchildren David, Jonathan and Mark Cordes of Escondido and Kelly and Clay Gordon of Denver.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Community Reformed Church Building Fund, 777 W. Felicita, Escondido, CA 92025 or to the Salvation Army, 1301 Las Villas Way, Escondido, CA 92025.

Andrew Ferris, 78
CARLSBAD - Andrew Charles Ferris, 78, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Jan. 30, 1923, in New York City, he lived in Carlsbad for 47 years. He was a retired accountant for the University of California. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Mr. Ferris was preceded in death by his daughters Mary Ferris, in 1951 and Theresa Hill, in 1964. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Ferris, of Carlsbad; sons Thomas Ferris of Medford, Ore., Richard Ferris of O'Brien, Ore., Andrew Ferris of Vista, Lawrence Ferris of Carlsbad and Robert Ferris of Oceanside; daughters Margaret Taylor of La Quinta, Laura Ferris of La Quinta, Mary Jo Ferris of Vista and Patricia Langen of Carlsbad; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. April 17, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, April 18, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Mullen officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Charles Bogaardt, 64
POMONA - Charles Armand Bogaardt, 64, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at his home.
Born July 20, 1936, in Batavia, Indonesia, he lived in Pomona for four years and was formerly of Vista for 25 years. He was a computer analyst for the U.S. government in Camp Pendleton for four years.
Mr. Bogaardt was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Bogaardt, in 1999. He is survived by his mother Bertha Bogaardt of Pomona; brother Walter Bogaardt of Moor Park; and sister Yvonne Dumas of Glendora.
A Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Mission San Luis Rey with the Rev. Patrick Mulcahy officiating. Burial will follow at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.

Mary Polewka, 93
ESCONDIDO - Mary M. Polewka, 93, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Las Villas Del Norte.
Born Jan. 31, 1908, in England, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the American National Red Cross as a volunteer during World War II. She was a member and past officer of the Women's Polish National Alliance in New Jersey.
Mrs. Polewka was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Polewka, in 2000, and son Eugene Polefka. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and Walter Ozimek of Escondido; sisters Wanda Poznanski of Clark, N.J. and Betty Litwinko of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. with rosary recited at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 19, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary Chapel followed by a Mass at noon at St. Timothy's Catholic Church with the Rev. James Raferty officiating. A private cremation and inurnment at Oak Hill Memorial Park is planned.

Dolores Barrios, 80
ESCONDIDO - Dolores E. Barrios, 80, died Monday, April 16, 2001.
Born March 1, 1921, in Okarchi, Okla., she had been a nurse at Palomar Memorial Hospital and retired in 1982.
Mrs. Barrios is survived by her husband of 50 years, Paul Barrios; sons Rick Barrios of San Marcos and Don Barrios of Poway, daughter Michele Barrios of Carlsbad; six brothers, two sisters; and five grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 20. at Church of the Resurrection.
The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

David Malone, 74
ESCONDIDO - David Stamm Malone, 74, died in Oregon.
Born July 8, 1926, in Milwaukee, Wis., he lived in Escondido. He came to Southern California 45 years ago. He had been in car sales and worked for the Times-Advocate through Pinkerton Security. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1948.
Mr. Malone was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Malone. He is survived by his daughters Mary and Susan of Escondido, Theresa and Diedre of Ashland, Ore; sons Jeffrey of Bonsall, Mark and David of Valley Center; and Michael and Kevin of Escondido; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Marjorie Pickett, 80
RAMONA - Marjorie Katherine Evans Pickett, 80, died Saturday, April 14, 2001.
Born July 19, 1920, in Wewila, S.D. she lived in Ramona for one year and was previously from Escondido. She taught in a one room country school in Nebraska after graduating high school. She retired from Douglas Aircraft in Lakewood after 35 years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and crossword puzzles .
Mrs. Pickett was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Florence Evans and brothers Jason, Bill, Leonard, Raymond, Curtis and Guy.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Cheris and Jim Anthony of Ramona and Janis Pickett Behr and Bill of Fullerton; brothers and sisters-in-law Alfred and Marilyn Evans of Kingswood, Texas and Earl and Chris Evans of Lakewood; sister-in-law Virginia Evans of Seal Beach; grandchildren Toni, James and Rita Anthony of Ramona; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Monday, April 23, at Bonham & Lee Mortuary with the Rev. Larry Coyle officiating. A graveside service and interment will follow at noon at Nuevo Memory Gardens.

Donna Kicak-Nielsen, 44
ESCONDIDO - Donna Marie Kicak-Nielsen, 44, died Friday, April 13, 2001, in San Diego.
Born April 13, 1957, in Rome, N.Y., she was a student at Clayton College. She was a graduate of Poway High School in 1975, and received a bachelor's degree from National University in 1986 in behavioral science, a master's degree with honors from Clayton College in 1999 and a Ph.D. from Clayton with honors in naturopathic medicine. She was a naturopathic doctor.
Mrs. Kicak-Nielsen is survived by her husband of 11 years, Martin Nielsen of Escondido; mother Jane Kicak and father Peter Kicak, both of Temecula; stepdaughters and son-in-law Heather and Edward Morawski of Cathedral City, Christina Nielsen of Las Vegas and Tiffany Nielsen of Escondido; brothers David Kicak of Hemet, Douglas Kicak of Yucaipa and Darryl Kicak of Rancho Penasquitos; and three step-grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today, April 18, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Riverside National Cemetery.

Heather Springer, 85
FALLBROOK - Heather Grace Evelyn Springer, 95, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at her home of heart failure.
Born Dec. 19, 1915, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, she lived in California for 73 years. She was a member of Fallbrook South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Springer is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles L. Springer, of Fallbrook; four sons; 10 daughters; 26 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Burial was at sea and a memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Murrieta Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Kay D. Wall officiating.

Audrey Dickinson, 76
JULIAN - Audrey May Gilmore Dickinson, 76, died Friday, April 13, 2001.
Born March 22, 1925, in San Fernando, she was a well-know Julian artist. She lived in San Diego County most of her life and lived in La Mesa before moving to Julian 35 years ago. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church where she was the current president of the Methodist Women. She was a board member of Lake Cuyamaca, a member of the Triangle Club of Julian, the Julian and Ramona Art Guild and a Girl Scout leader for many years. She had been a former elementary school teacher.
Mrs. Dickinson was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, George M. Dickinson, in 1989 and daughter Jamie Louise Caudill in 1971. She is survived by her son, Robert Dickinson of Ramona; brother Robert "Bud" Gilmore of Phoenix; sister May Lou Manning of Rifle, Colo.; grandchildren Shannon Brown, Deonna Dickinson and Russell Dickinson; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at the Community United Methodist Church of Julian.
The family suggests memorial donations to Community United Methodist Church, Hwys 78/79 & Pine Hills Road, PO Box 834, Julian, CA 92036.

Vincent Greco, 65
SAN MARCOS - Vincent Greco, 65, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Jan. 1, 1936, in Hazeltown, Pa., he lived in San Marcos for eight years. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Greco is survived by his wife of eight years, Margaret Greco of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Laura Ross of New York; daughters and son-in-law Debra and Stanley Jarzynska of Virginia Beach and Robin Tuszynski of New York; brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Gloria Grego of Pennsylvania; sisters Betty Poblick of New Jersey and Ann Nagy of New Jersey; and grandchildren Jonathon, Jacklyn, Ross, Isiah, Anthony and Nicholas.
A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania.

Bertha Nisbet, 91
OCEANSIDE - Bertha Nisbet, 91, died Friday, April 13, 2001, in Vista.
Born Jan. 19, 1910, in Lancaster, England, she lived in Oceanside for 16 years. She was a homemaker. She owned a beautician shop in England.
Mrs. Nisbet was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Nisbet, in October 1998. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lynn and James Trude of Oceanside and grandchildren Tamara, Jennifer and Teresa Trude.
A memorial service is scheduled for noon, Friday, April 20, at North Coast United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard K. Smith officiating. A private cremation and scattering at sea is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Lahlia McCarthy, 79
CANYON LAKE - Lahlia Mae McCarthy, 79, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born May 10, 1921, in Rodgersville, Mo., she lived in Canyon Lake for 11 years. She was a self-employed farmer in Stockton for 30 years.
Mrs. McCarthy is survived by her sons, Keith McCarthy of Canyon Lake, Marvin McCarthy of Big Bear and Roger McCarthy of Union City; sister Lillian Luck of Manteca; brother Jay Stewart of Manteca; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Miller-Jones Sun City. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, at Miller-Jones Sun City with Stu Johnson officiating and graveside service at 12:15 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery staging area No. 2.

Lars Anderson, 71
TEMECULA - Lars "Dewey" Anderson, 71, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at his home.
Born April 5, 1930, in Douglas, N.D., he lived in Temecula for 24 years. He was employed by the Garden Grove Post Office for 25 years before becoming Temecula's first city carrier in 1978. He retired in 1985, after 32 years of postal service. He was a sports fan and enjoyed golf, race-walking and local sports teams.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jane Anderson; daughters and sons-in-law Debra and John McElree of Davis, Nancy and Phillip Weigandt of San Marcos and Lori Godwin of Beaumont; sons and daughter-in-law Darren Anderson of Lake Elsinore and Glen and Erin Anderson of Menifee; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, at the Temecula Public Cemetery.

Harold Brewer, 74
WILDOMAR - Harold Wade Brewer, 74, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Riverside General.
Born May 15, 1926, in Abilene, Texas, he lived in Riverside County for five years. He had worked for Caster Bathroom Fixtures and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Church of Christ in Lake Elsinore. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife, Ella Joy Brewer of Wildomar; sons Robert Brewer of Torrance and Richard Brewer of Wildomar; sisters Mona Rawlins of Napa and Margie Ritchie of Napa; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, burial followed at 11 at Wildomar Cemetery.

Joel Stanley, 80
LAVACA, Ark. - Joel G. Stanley, 80, died Monday, April 16, 2001.
Born June 6, 1920 in Atlanta, he spent his youth in Chicago and Moline, Ill., and most of his adult life in Torrance before moving to Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from North American Rockwell in 1983. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Torrance and the Vineyard Fellowship in Fort Smith.
Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Lois Stanley. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Stevie; children John Stanley, Margrett Bishop, Dave Stanley of Temecula and Lynn Pocoroba of Long Beach; their spouses; and eight grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Halverson, Stone & Myers in Torrance and funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.

Claudia Timmer, 81
SUN CITY - Claudia Fay Timmer, 81, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at her home.
Born April 26, 1919, in Linsay, Okla., she lived in Sun City for 12 years. She had been a bank teller for United California Bank in Pomona for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Timmer is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Timmer of Sun City and daughter Connie Wagers of Sun City.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Anderson officiating. Interment icon will be at Menifee Valley Memorial Park.

ESCONDIDO - Donna Marie Kicak-Nielsen, 44, died Friday, April 13, 2001, in San Diego.
Born April 13, 1957, in Rome, N.Y., she was a student at Clayton College. Barbara Graf Daniels, 66
Barbara Daniels died peacefully at home in Fallbrook, on April 11, 2001.
During her last few days she was under hospice care surrounded by family and friends.
Barbara was born in San Diego on March 1, 1935. After graduation from high school in Claremont, she attended Stanford University until she married James Daniels.
As the wife of a Navy pilot she traveled and lived in many different locations prior to settling down for good in Fallbrook.
Barbara was a true Southern Californian with a steadfast love of the area's gardening climate and lifestyle. After her children were grown she completed her formal education and received a bachelor's degree in botany from UCR. She then served as a docent at Quail Botanical Gardens for the final 13 years of her life. Her colleagues at Quail recently honored her with an award that noted, in part, "Her preparation of our annual index Seminum, and her responses to requests for seed, provide a vital link between QBG and botanical institutions around the world."
Barbara was a devoted wife and mother who also had a life-long passion for plants and beautiful gardens when she had to move on.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Daniels; daughters Christine Gorum of Conroe, Texas and Karen Cipolla of Arroyo Grande; brother Roderic Graf of Claremont; and five grandchildren.
Barbara will be greatly missed.
A private memorial service is planned.

Bobby Joe Keeler, 51
COVINA - Bobby Joe Keeler, 51, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001.
Born May 9, 1949, in Escondido, he was a resident of Escondido for 23 years. He lived in Covina for 28 years and was a truck driver and an auto mechanic. He married Teddy Bales in Escondido in 1972.
Mr. Keeler was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Sarah Keeler and brother Charles C. Keeler.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Teddy Keeler, of Covina; sons and daughter-in-law Robert and Diana Keeler of Azusa and Charles Keeler of Covina; brothers and sister-in-law Wayne and Angie Keeler of Mesa, Ariz.; sister and brother-in-law Iva and Dan Blake of Escondido; brother Larry Keeler; sister-in-law Joyce Lantz of El Monte; four grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and friends. Bobby enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today, April 18, at the Pierce Brothers Mortuary in West Covina.
The pallbearers will be Brian Blake, Aaron Blake, Lisa Keeler, Rick Keeler, Sheila Bragole and Chelie Middleton. Serving as the honorary pallbearers will be Treva Blake, Samantha Keeler, Sheron, and Raymond Bragole, Sarah Ashley, Cody and Savannah Keeler, Shannon Middleton and James Henley.
The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to offset the funeral cost. Donations can be sent to West Covina Chrysler, C/O Bobby Joe Keeler, 298 N. Azusa Ave., West Covina, CA 91791.

David Stamm Malone
David Stamm Malone passed away last week in Oregon, with his four daughters at his side.
A longtime Escondido resident, he came to Southern California from Milwaukee,Wis., 45 years ago with his wife, Mary, who preceded him in death.
They are survived by nine children; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Daughters Mary and Susan live in Escondido; Theresa and Diedre in Ashland, Ore.; and sons Jeffrey in Bonsall, Mark and David in Valley Center, Michael and Kevin in Escondido.
Friends will recall Dave's great sense of humor and memory for jokes.
After a successful career in car sales, he worked at the Times-Advocate paper through Pinkerton Security.
Born July 8, 1926, he was in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1948.
Graveside services will take place this Friday, April 20, at 1 p.m.
