Delbert Droegemeier, 86
HEMET - Delbert Guy Droegemeier, 86, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, of congestive heart failure, at Hemet Valley Medical Center.
Born Nov. 7, 1913, in Geneseo, Kan., he lived in Sun City for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1931 to 1936 and in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1941 to 1945. He worked in the mines of Colorado and California and then joined the Merchant Marines as navigation officer, serving for 18 months. He served 36 months during the Vietnam War and retired in 1969 as commander. He worked as a carpenter in Texas and California and served as president of his local carpenters union for three terms. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers in Texas and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Mr. Droegemeier was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Elaine Droegemeier; brothers Joseph Droegemeier and Cornelious Droegemeier Jr.; and sister Louise Larson. He is survived by his daughter, Gladys Mora of Temecula; sons Keith Droegemeier of Sun City, Leslie Droegemeier of Texas and Stanley Droegemeier of Ventura; brothers William Droegemeier of Utah, Keith Droegemeier of Nevada and Vernon Droegemeier of Texas; sister Jean Covey of Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 2.

Diana Rodriguez Sifuentes, 14
VISTA - Diana Rodriguez Sifuentes, 14, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in Vista.
Born Oct. 22, 1985, in Oceanside, she lived in Vista for 14 years. She was a student.
Diana is survived by her mother and father, Luisa Rodriguez and Daniel Rodriguez of Vista; brothers Jose and Erik Rodriguez of Vista; and sister Gilda Rodriguez of Vista.
Visitation and viewing will be held and a rosary recited at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at 203 W. Los Angeles in Vista. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
El Cajon Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Andrew Wynne, 43
OCEANSIDE - Andrew Wynne, 43, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at his home, in Oceanside.
Born Oct. 19, 1956, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he lived in the Vista and Oceanside area for 41 years. He was an electrical engineer for General Atomics in Rancho Bernardo and was working on his master's degree when he became ill. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the Persian Gulf War. He was a coach with Vista Tee-Ball, Pop Warner Football and a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Wynne was preceded in death by his father, John Marvin Wynne, on Feb. 3, 1991. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Laurie L. Wynne; daughter Chelsea-Dawn Miyoko; son Michael-David Andrew of Oceanside; grandmother Hazel Wynne of Phoenix; mother Frances Marsh of Port Orchard, Wash.; brothers and sisters-in-law J.C. and Dawn Wynne, Mark and Kim Wynne, Tim and Patty Wynne, Jamie and Sheila Wynne, all of Vista, and Hung and Laun Nguyen of Mission Viejo; sisters and brothers-in-law Yvonne and Chuck Moore of Port Orchard, Sheila and Allan Katz of San Marcos; stepmother Pat Wynne of Marshall, Alaska; and 18 nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 10, at North Coast Calvary Chapel in Carlsbad. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at San Marcos Cemetery.

Harold Crosby, 76
FARR WEST, Utah - Harold F. Crosby, 76, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at McKay-Dee Hospital.
Born Sept. 18, 1923, in Wassaic County, N.Y., he lived in Del Mar for 47 years. He graduated from Beverly High School in Beverly, Mass., and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a general contractor for home and commercial construction. He served with the San Diego Police Department Reserve Officers for 25 years, retiring as a sergeant. He served on the Encinitas Traffic Commission and was a member of the Del Mar Chamber of Commerce, honored as Man of the Year, and the Lion's Club, and was an on-call fireman for the city of Del Mar. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner and served for five years as president of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Association in San Diego. He was also secretary and newsletter editor. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Carpenters Union. He enjoyed motorcycle riding as a hobby.
Mr. Crosby was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kathleen Crosby; and brother Herbert Crosby. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dorothy "Dottie" M. Balsley of Farr West; son and daughter-in-law Byron and Denise Krenek of Farr West; daughter Lindsay Crosby of Salem, Mass.; brothers and sisters-in-law Lewis and Ruth Crosby of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Robert and Ardys Crosby of Paradise; brothers-in-law and their wives Joseph and Janet Balsley of Escondido and Donald Balsley of Del Mar; sister-in-law and her husband Ruth and Robert Alkire of Alturs; nephews Robert Crosby of Fairfax Station, Va., Phillip Crosby of Massachusetts and Kenneth Crosby of Encinitas; niece Ann Crosby; and grandchildren Allyn Krenek and Kristin Krenek.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Episcopal Church in Encinitas. A reception will follow. A private cremation is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association, 225 Broadway, Suite 310, San Diego, CA 92101; the American Heart Association, 3640 Fifth Ave., San Diego, CA 92101; or a charity of choice.

ESCONDIDO - Jesus Clemente Tapia was stillborn Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Jesus is survived by his mother and father Patricia Castillo and Adan Tapia of Escondido; and sisters Violeta Castillo and Graciela Tapia of Escondido.
Visitation and viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A graveside service and burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Krysta Mitchell, infant
RANCHO BERNARDO - Krysta Catalina Mitchell died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at Children's Hospital in San Diego. She was born Aug. 2, 2000, in Poway.
Krysta was preceded in death by her grandmother, Arcelia Martinez Mitchell, on Feb. 1, 1973. She is survived by her mother and father, Kristin L. and Timothy G. Mitchell of Rancho Bernardo; sister Schuyler Alectra Mitchell of Rancho Bernardo; and grandparents Marlene Brainard of Raleigh, N.C., Bob Schuler of Bramber, West Sussex, England, and James E. Mitchell of Durango, Colo.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at Dearborn Memorial Park. Burial will follow.

Edward Slaven, 70
TEMECULA - Edward I. Slaven, 70, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at his home.
Born March 14, 1930, in Santa Cruz, he lived in Temecula for 18 years. He was a construction engineer for Metropolitan Water District for 30 years before retiring in 1983 and served in the U.S. Navy. He loved golf and fishing.
Mr. Slaven is survived by his daughters, Sherrie Harrison and Laurie Fox, both of Temecula, and Linda Meyer of Big Bear; son Robert Mills of Diamond Bar; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service is planned.

Marcel Gosselin, 78
SUN CITY - Marcel Roland Gosselin, 78, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born March 13, 1922, in Fitchburg, Mass., he lived in Sun City for three years. He was a tool and die maker for Cutler Laboratory in Covina for 40 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Elks Lodge in West Covina, and Kiwanis Club. He loved golfing, fishing in the Sierras, woodworking, swing dancing and gardening vegetables and flowers. He served as an interpreter in France for the allies while in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He also served on landing craft tanks.
Mr. Gosselin is survived by his wife, Suzanne Gosselin of Sun City; sons Richard Gosselin of Wildomar and Stephen Gosselin of Richland, Wash.; sisters Rita Deforges, Doris Kijak, Alma Laliberte and Bertha Lamoureaux, all of Rhode Island, and Germaine Diegnan of Florida; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Inc. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Luke Westendorf, 7 months
TEMECULA - Luke Henry Westendorf, 7 months, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, of meningitis, at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Born Dec. 14, 1999, in Wildomar, he lived in Temecula.
Luke is survived by his parents, Robert and Susan Westendorf of Temecula; brother Trevor Westendorf of Temecula; grandparents Bill and Jodi Doran of Temecula, Richard and Carol King of LaPine, Ore., Dee and Ed Reiche of Beaumont; great-grandmother Mary King of LaPine; aunt Raegan Doran of Temecula; uncles and aunts Larry and Kathy Westendorf of Dallas, Texas, Jim and Jerilgn Westendorf of Rialto, Ed and Faith Westendorf of Hemet, Bill and Linda Westendorf of Vista; Tom Westendorf of Temecula, Marie Westendorf of Banning, Don Westendorf of Escondido and Richard and Liz Rodriguez of Beaumont.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Calvary Chapel in Murrieta. Burial followed at Temecula Cemetery.

Isobel Herron, 65
SAN MARCOS - Isobel A. Herron, 65, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at a San Diego hospital.
Born March 5, 1935, in Ottawa, Canada, she lived in San Marcos for 13 years. She was a homemaker for 45 years and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Mrs. Herron is survived by her husband of 45 years, J. Barry Herron of San Marcos; son Jay Herron of San Marcos; daughters Wendy Jones of San Marcos, Nancy Smith of Phoenix and Kelly Davis of Long Beach; brothers Leo Bisson and John Bisson, both of Ottawa; sister Teresa Falkner of Vancouver, Canada; and five grandchildren.
A private memorial service is planned. A private family interment will take place at San Marcos Cemetery.

Darwin Hatch, 87
ESCONDIDO - Darwin "Bud" Hatch, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Las Villas Del Norte of congestive heart failure.
Born Dec. 27, 1912, in Kentland, Ind., he was a resident of Escondido for four years and was formerly of Homeland. He retired in 1978 from Lockheed. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Hemet, the American Institute of Industrial Engineers, the YMCA, he was a master of ceremonies for many of the Highland Palms Association dances and parties, a member of the Highland Palms Men's Golf Club, board member of Highland Palms Mobile Estates Homeowners Association and published the Highland Palms newsletter.
Mr. Hatch was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Hatch Burkett. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillie R. Hatch of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Marilyn and Bob Ekstraud of San Diego and Janet and Peter Bouchard of South Burlington, Vt.; sister Virginia Mulholland of Dannville, Ill.; grandchildren, Joseph and wife Teri, Robert, Janet Smith, Autumn and Glenn Dufresne; great-grandchildren Brian and Brett Smith.
A memorial was held Saturday, Aug. 5, at 1 p.m. at Las Villas Del Norte Chapel with Paul Brown officiating. There was a private cremation.
The family suggest memorial donations to: The Salvation Army, 1301 Las Villas Way, Escondido, CA 92026.
North County Cremation Service handled the arrangements.

Joseph Molden, 88
LEUCADIA - Joseph Oliver Molden, 88, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at Manor Care Health Services.
Born Aug. 5, 1911, in Iowa, he was a resident of Leucadia for 35 years. He was a retired self-employed landscaper. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during WW II. He died on his 63rd wedding anniversary.
Mr. Molden was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Molden in 1997. He is survived by sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Stan Nash of San Clemente and niece Pam Deines of San Clemente.
A memorial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Eternal Hills Chapel with the Rev. David Plank officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later time and date.

Marian Shaw, 86
FALLBROOK - Marian Agatha Shaw, 86, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Casa De Las Carmelitas Assisted Living.
Born March 10, 1914, in Flint, Mich., she was a resident of Fallbrook for five years. She was a homemaker for 74 years.
Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her husband Eugene F. Shaw in 1995. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Craig and Marlee Shaw of Fallbrook and Gene and Julie Shaw of Virginia; sisters Edna Woodrow and Helen Lucius, both of MIchigan; grandchildren David and Katy Shaw, Greg, Cay, Ben, Alysha and David Payne; great-grandchildren Brandon Payne and Abigale Godfrey.
No services will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is scheduled.

Lenolee Serandos, 85
ENCINITAS - Lenolee Power Serandos, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000.
Born March 28, 1915, in Mercer, Mo., she was a resident of Solana Beach for three months. She retired in 1960 as a self-employed neighborhood grocery store owner. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, the Methodist Church of Rock Island, Ill. and the Methodist Church of East Moline, Ill.
Mrs. Serandos is survived by her husband of 65 years, Nicholas Serandos of Solana Beach; son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Ann Serandos of Solana Beach; grandchildren Jeffrey Serandos of Las Vegas, Robert Serandos of Solana Beach and Gregory and Takako Serandos of South Africa.
Visitation, memorial and interment is scheduled for today, Aug. 8, in East Moline, Ill.

Romulo Rendon, 78
ENCINITAS - Romulo Perez Rendon, 78, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000.
Born Feb. 18, 1922, he was a resident of Carlsbad. He retired in 1984 from Tabata Brothers Ranch.
Mr. Rendon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carlota Rendon of Carlsbad; son and daughter-in-law Ramon and Maribel Rendon of Oceanside; daughters and sons-in-law Rebeca R. and Miguel Garcia of Oceanside and Imelda R. and Manuel Zepeda of Carlsbad; brothers Francisco Rendon of Mexico and Felipe and wife Asuncion Rendon of Wilmington; sister Silvestra Rendon of Long Beach, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8:30 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Carlsbad. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment icon will follow the Mass at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

John Factor, 79
ESCONDIDO - John Lee Factor, 79, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Silverado Senior Living.
Born Nov. 22, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo., he was a resident of San Diego for 40 years. He owned John L. Factor Volkswagen in Lemon Grove for more than 12 years. He was in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WW II and fought in the South Pacific, he was past president of the Lemon Grove Rotary Club.
Mr. Factor was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Factor in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean Factor of San Diego; sons Steven Factor of San Diego, Tim and wife Andrea Factor of Hawaii; daughter and son-in-law Dawn Factor and William Matthews of Boulder, Colo., and brother Monte Factor of Santa Monica.
A private family service is scheduled. The family suggests memorial donations to: Alzheimer's Association of San Diego, 8514 Commerce Ave., San Diego, CA 92121.

Elsie McGuckin, 83
RAMONA - Elsie O. McGuckin, 83, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at a local convalescent hospital.
Born March 17, 1917, in Athens, Texas, she was a resident of San Diego County for over 40 years and lived in Ramona since 1971. She owned the Roadside Inn on Highway 67 for five years and was a car masker for a number of years.
Mrs. McGuckin was preceded in death by her husband, James F. McGuckin, May 5, 1996. She is survived by her sisters, Margie Hart and Geraldine Hart, both of Athens, Texas, and good friend and executrix Andrea Bongiovanni of Ramona.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Ramona Nuevo Memory Gardens with the Rev. Larry Coyle officiating.

Jean Lofthouse, 93
SAN MARCOS - Jean Frances Lofthouse, 93, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000.
Born April, 15, 1907, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, she was a resident of Carlsbad for 35 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Carlsbad.
Mrs. Lofthouse was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Lofthouse, in 1973. She is survived by sons Thomas W. Lofthouse of Fort Morgan, Colo., Bruce G. Lofthouse of La Mesa, and James R. Lofthouse of Temecula; daughters Jean P. Miller of Redding and Nancy G. Annable of San Jacinto; step-daughter Dorothy Rockwell of Frazier Park; brother Robert Hutchison of Seal Beach; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services and interment are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Gerald Stinson officiating.
