Billy Jack Anglin
Services were Tuesday for Billy Jack Anglin, who died Feb. 11 at his home in Felton. He was 54.
Mr. Anglin was born at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. He moved to Felton in 2001.
He graduated from McLoud High School in McLoud, Okla., in 1967. He attended a two-year electronics school and began his career at General Electric in 1968 in Oklahoma City.
The company was eventually sold to Seagate Technology. Anglin had recently been transferred to Seagate headquarters in Scotts Valley, where he worked as a material manager for scheduling and planning. Last year, he received the Supply Chain Award, an international recognition by Seagate.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Mae Stamp Anglin of Felton; two daughters, Stephanie Kay Higdon of Cleburne, Texas, and Jennifer Mae Anglin of Newcastle, Okla.; a son, Billy Lee Anglin of Oklahoma City; his mother, Mary Jean McDaniel, and his stepfather, Stanley McDaniel, both of Eufaula, Okla.; a sister, Mary Susan Maxeiner of Oklahoma City; a brother, Arthur Eugene Anglin of Harrah, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
His father, Arthur Anglin, died before him.
Burial was Tuesday at the Highland Cemetery in Stonewall, Okla.

Pamela Cutler
Services will be Sunday for Pamela Cutler, who died Feb. 14 in Santa Cruz of complications from breast cancer. She was 40.
A native of New York, Cutler had moved to Santa Cruz in 1981.
She loved the ocean, reading, being around animals and spending time with her friends.
She was a member of the Wo/Men’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana, or WAMM.
She is survived by her son, Andy Moriarty; her mother, Jane Grey; and her stepfather, Robert Ellis.
Her uncles, Bill and Peter Berggren, gave her care and support during her illness.
Memorial services are Sunday at noon at the Lighthouse Field in Santa Cruz. A reception will follow at Viking Hall.

Manuel M. Rannals
Services will be Saturday for Manuel "Manny" Montgomery Rannals, who died at his home in Scotts Valley on Feb. 15 after a long illness. He was 73.
Mr. Rannals was born in Texas. At age 6, he moved to California with his family.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He enjoyed photography, fishing and gardening. He was especially interested in growing roses, and was a former president of the Monterey Bay Rose Society.
He operated Super Sharpeners, sharpening knives and scissors for area restaurants, beauty and barber shops.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Isabel Rannals of Scotts Valley, two sons, Steve Rannals of Santa Cruz and Michael Rannals of Watsonville; a daughter, Pamela Cole of Watsonville; his mother, Nannie Rannals of Mountain View; two sisters, Rose Corey of San Jose and Louise Ferrintino of Palm Desert; and three grandchildren.
His father, Emmanuel Rannals, died in 1989. His brother, John Rannals, also died before him.
Memorial services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at the lodge in Montevalle Park, 552 Bean Creek Road, Scotts Valley.

Leo W. Ruth Jr.
Services will be Friday for Leo W. Ruth Jr., who died Sunday at his home in Pajaro Dunes after a brief illness. He was 85.
Mr. Ruth was a native of Santa Clara. He moved to Pajaro Dunes in 1979.
He graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in San Jose. He earned a degree in civil and mechanical engineering from Santa Clara University in 1938.
He founded Ruth and Going engineering firm in 1948. He retired in 1983, but remained active in many professional and community service organizations. He also attended St. Patrick’s Church in Watsonville.
He is survived by sons Leo Ruth III and Roger Ruth, both of San Jose, and Phillip Ruth of Modesto; daughters Suzanne Cracraft of Larkspur, Martha Helton and Aimee Van Meter, both of San Jose, Mary Anne Silva of Las Vegas and Claire Pfann of Jerusalem, Israel; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
His wife, Dorothy, died in 1997.
Friends may call Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Services are Friday at 10 a.m. at the Mission Church on the campus of Santa Clara University. Burial will be in Los Gatos Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by Mehl’s Colonial Chapel in Watsonville.

Louis C. Scurich
Services will be today for Louis C. Scurich , who died at Dominican Hospital on Saturday. He was 88.
Mr. Scurich, a native of Watsonville, attended Moreland Notre Dame School and graduated from Watsonville High School in 1936.
He served in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He attended St. Patrick’s Church in Watsonville and was a member of the Elks Lodge in El Centro and Watsonville’s Over 65 club.
He worked with Bud Antle for 31 years, retiring as a vice president and harvesting supervisor. Upon retiring, he and his wife traveled to Europe, the Holy Land and Asia.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Scurich of Watsonville; a son, Michael Scurich of Mill Valley; and one grandchild.
His brother, Nick Scurich; a half-brother, Tony Scurich; and a half-sister, Ann MacLeod, died before him.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Private Burial will follow at the Valley Catholic Cemetery.
Mehl’s Colonial Chapel in Watsonville is in charge of arrangements.

Albert J. Errington
Private services will be today for Albert Errington, who died Monday at his home in Watsonville. He was 95.
Mr. Errington was born in Scotts Valley. He later started a dairy farm there and raised goats and turkeys. A Little League field is located on the spot where his home once stood.
He was a Navy veteran and also had worked for 50 years as a civil servant at the U.S. Naval Supply Center in Oakland.
He enjoyed spending time with his dear friend, Ruby Beattie of Watsonville.
He is survived by two daughters, Beverly Errington Underwood of Berkeley and Deborah Drown of Battle Mountain, Nev.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His wife, Jessie, died in 1990.
Arrangements are by Oakwood Memorial Chapel in Santa Cruz.

Eugenia M. Bartolo
Services will be today for Eugenia M. Bartolo, who died Sunday at her son’s home in Scotts Valley. She was 93.
Mrs. Bartolo was born in Italy. She came to America by ship in 1915 and passed through Ellis Island, arriving in New York. She settled with her family in Colorado, but later moved to Stockton. There she met her future husband, James Bartolo. The couple settled in Oakland, but later moved their family to San Leandro. She moved to Scotts Valley in 1995.
While living there, Mrs. Bartolo owned and operated her own yarn shop for many years. She later sold the business, but continued to work for the new owner well into her eighties.
Mrs. Bartolo led a women’s knitting group, in which she developed a close circle of loving friends. She attended Assumption Catholic Church in San Leandro and was active in church activities. After moving to Scotts Valley, she became a member of San Agustins Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Donald Bartolo of Scotts Valley; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, James, died in 1982, and her daughter, Shirley Fagundas died in 1990.
Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3433 Sommerset, Castro Valley. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.

Charles Emerson Thorne Jr.
Services will be Saturday for Charles Emerson Thorne Jr., who died Monday morning. He was 72.
Mr. Thorne was born in Quinter, Kan. When he was a child, his family moved to Oakland and then to Berkeley, where they owned and operated Cedar Market. He moved to the Santa Cruz area in the late-1950s.
He was a graduate of Fremont High School in Oakland.
As a young man, Mr. Thorne restored classic cars, built race cars and held a record for roadster drag racing. He was a member of the Elmwood Auto Club.
He joined the Air Force in December 1948 and served as an airplane mechanic at Kisarazu Air Force Base in Japan during the Korean War. He crossed the international date line on July 8, 1953, while aboard the Pan American Clipper Bald Eagle.
He was honorably discharged in 1955 and later married Sharon Coble. The couple settled in the Happy Valley area in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Mr. Thorne raised rabbits and ran Thorne Lumber with his father and brother. He also worked for Pacific Telephone as a lineman and later as a logger.
After receiving a logging injury in 1960, he majored in accounting at Cabrillo College.
He was a volunteer firefighter and was appointed in 1962 as a commissioner of the Branciforte Fire Protection District. He served in that post for 13 years.
He enjoyed listening to Dixieland jazz music and spending time with his dear friend, Elinore Bernard of Santa Cruz.
He also loved taking camping and fishing trips with his friends and family to Big Sur, Baja, Mexico, and Quadra Island, Canada. Family members say his specialty was smoking fresh salmon in his custom-built smoker.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Bingham of Santa Cruz; a son, Charles E. Thorne III of Santa Cruz; a grandson, Cameron Bingham of Santa Cruz; and his former wife, Sharon Thorne of Nice.
His parents, Charles E. Thorne Sr. and Marian A. Thorne, died before him.
Services are Saturday at 10 a.m. at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St. in Santa Cruz.
