Dorothy (Dolly) Schmidt
SCHMIDT, Dorothy (Dolly) – peacefully at St. Joseph’s at Fleming on Saturday, March 10, 2007, in her 98th year. Dear daughter of the late Col. George and Jessie Ball. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Johannes Schmidt. Loving mother of Dolores and her husband Bill Minnie, and John Schmidt and his wife Nancy. Sadly missed by grandchildren Rick Minnie and Linda Thompson, Brenda and Michael Mangan, Angela and Jim Elson, Maria and Mike Little, Jonathan and Kelly Schmidt. Great-nanna to Krista, Sarah, Shantel, Lucas, Zachary, Jayce, and Kylie. Donations in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by her family and may be made through NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 1-877-987-3964, with whom arrangements have been entrusted.
Funeral Details: At Dolly’s request, a private family service was held at the HIGHLAND PARK VISITATION/RECEPTION CENTRE, followed by Interment at Highland Park Cemetery.

Deborah Yurkowski (Keating-Lebedynski)
YURKOWSKI (Keating-Lebedynski), Deborah Lea Pauline – passed on suddenly at her home in Newcastle on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the age of 50. Debbie, beloved mother of Joseph, James, Jackqueline and her husband Trevor, and Theresa. Loving grandmother of April, Brian, Mikaela, Matthew, and Tristan. Survived by her husband Thomas Lebedynski. Dear sister of Dianne Shuck and Teresa Ferren. Loving aunt of Maria Ferren and Jason and Justine Shuck. Sadly missed by Ellen Keating and many other relatives and friends. Ellen Jane "Nellie" Challes
Active member of Grace Missionary Church, Port Hope – peacefully in her sleep at Northumberland Hills Hospital on Thursday, March 1, 2007, in her 100th year. Loving mother of Walter Bush, Gladys Hazelton and the late Jean Hungford. Dear Surrogate mom to Shirley and Walter Dyck, Levi and Isabelle Teal and Nadene Delves. Dear sister to Inaz Knox and Loretta Grant. Predeceased by sisters, Delareen Bustard, Gladys Haddock and Eva Purpin. Dear grandmother of Asa Pixley and the late Earl Bush and her many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her surrogate grandkids Kippie and Danny. The family would like to extend a special thank you to close friends Bill and Helen, and all of her many caregivers throughout the years.
Funeral Details: Friends will be received at GRACE MISSIONARY CHURCH, 2 Centennial Dr., Port Hope on Saturday, March 3, 2007, for visitation from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., with a funeral service to commence immediately following in the church. Ed "Doc" Ewert
EWERT, Edwin L., M.D.C.M. “Doc” – (Captain in the Medical Corps during WWII; Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 788; Life Member of the Bowmanville Lions Club, Charter Member of Rosthern, Sask. Lions Club and Melvin Jones recipient.) – peacefully after a lengthy illness at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday, February 25 , in his 90th year. He started his career as an army doctor overseas, came back to serve as a country doctor in Rosthern, Sask., was the former Chief of Staff at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital, and retired as a family physician in private practice. He was always very proud of the number of babies he brought into the world; loved golf, curling, bridge, traveling, and most of all his family. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ethna. Dear father of Leslie, Charles and his wife Kathy, Andrea McKay and her husband Harry, and Margaret “Mugs.” Sadly missed by grandchildren Robyn and her husband Earl Vickers, Jennyn, Cameron, Andrew, and great-grandchildren Krystyn, Ben, and Abbey. Survived by brothers Orin and Melvin, and predeceased by 12 other brothers and sisters. Ed’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hoy and all of the caring staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, as well as to the staff and his many friends at Compassion House. Donations in Ed’s memory to Bowmanville Memorial Hospital Foundation or Community Care would be greatly appreciated. McCULLOUGH, Irvin “Irv” John – (Instrumental in the founding of Minor Sports in Newcastle, Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178, Inducted Member of the Oshawa Sports Hall Of Fame, twice Inducted in the Clarington Sports Hall Of Fame, Former Oshawa General 1936-1937). Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Saturday, February 24, 2007, after celebrating his 90th birthday on February 15th. Dear husband of Audrey for 30 years and predeceased by his first wife Jean in 1973. Loving father to his five sons, Dave and his wife Marg of Oshawa, Paul and his wife Myrna of Oshawa, Gary and his wife Jeannie of Oshawa, Pete and his wife Lynda of Bowmanville, and Bill and his wife Debbie of Lindsay. Loving Grandpa to his 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Irv is survived by his step-children, Bev and his wife Theresa Brereton, Kathy and her husband Ted McCrae and their children, Sister Joan and predeceased by his other sister Betty and his brother Doug. Dear father of Patricia and Ross Morris of Orono, Kim and Wayne Pearce of Bethany, Lynn and Alf Alldread of Newcastle, Dan and Fran Clark of Peterborough, John and Georgina Clark of Peterborough, Carole and Sully McMann of Peterborough, Tammy of Peterborough, Shawna and Laird Story of Bewdley, Carri Clark of Cobourg, and the late Terry Waddell. Sadly missed by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by one brother and several sisters. Dear father of Cheryl Ann Andrews and her husband Roy of Bewdley, Christina Sutherland and her husband John of Bewdley, Penny Willett and her husband Robert (Rob) of Newtonville, and Ronald Lacroix and his wife Cheryl of Bewdley. Sadly missed by grandchildren Shaun, Amanda, Tyler, Jacquie, Ashley, Stephen, Ryan, Lisa, Chantel, Jessie, and great-grandchildren Gracie-Ann, Nolan, Amelia, and Sawyer.
