On Monday, January 9, 2006, in hospital. Born May 27, 1920. Son of the late Edmond and Sara (Cruchet) Marion. Gerald Paul Marion husband of Hilda. Father of David (Margaret Kubisewsky), Janice (Roger Willis), Derek, Jeffrey (Marie-Pierre Gagnon) and Peter. Grandfather to Marnie, Michael and Lee Willis, Erika Marion and Felicity Marion. Brother of Gertrude Bruce, Kingston and Lorne of Burk's Falls. Predeceased by sister and brothers: Sylvia, Homer, Hector, Leonard and Edward. Will be missed by his feline pal LeMoko. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, January 12 at 2pm, with Rev. Bryan King of St. Luke Lutheran Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Christian Children's Fund of Canada, 1027 McNicoll Avenue, Toronto, ON, M1W 3X2 would be appreciated by the family.

Suddenly on Wednesday, January 4th 2006 at the age of 49. Beloved husband of Sandra Maracle. Loving father of Jason Martel (Sandy) and Mark Martel. Dear son of Armandine and Yvon Martel. Cherished brother of Edith, Anne, Doris (Raynald), Andre and Guy (Gina). Godfather of Francis, uncle of Audrey, Danny, Alex, Carl and Tommy. He will be fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins and his #1 friend Pepper. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Saturday, January 7th, 2006 from 4 p.m. until service time in the Chapel at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.

Predeceased by his parents Frank and Marie Maulsby, and brother Darrel and Orville. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at the Aviation Parkway, on Thursday, January 19, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, January 20 at 1 p.m. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery. Cherished granddad of Matthew and Madeleine. Dear brother of Lorne of Kemptville and the late Ina Smart. Eldren had a remarkable career as a Chartered Accountant for over 60 years with McCay Duff & Company and was a long-time member of the Ottawa Hunt Club. Special thanks to Linda and Wayne Irven and other friends for their care and compassion. Peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the age of 86 years. Beloved wife of the late George Farnsworth Phaneuf. Loving mother of Gordon Phaneuf and the late Donald Arthur. Proud grandmother of Brandon Gordon Farnsworth, Bryant Matthew Frankland and Dylan Edwin Donald. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the staff and volunteers of the Glebe Centre who provided gentle support and care to Brenda throughout the last 10 years of her life. Suddenly and peacefully at home on Sunday, January 8, 2006 in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Susanna Rausch and cherished father of Heidi Rausch. He will be greatly missed by sister Katharina ( Adam ) Barthalt and Heinrich ( Kathy ) Rausch of Ottawa, sister-in-law Theresa ( Paul ) Gerhard, brother-in-law Heinrich ( Theresa ) Steib and sister-in-law Katharina Steib ( the late Karl ) of Germany. Nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada and Germany join us in our grief. My father touched many lives in his 34 years at Domtar/Canada Brick. Tweed Avenue and White Lake will certainly be quieter places without him. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., on Thursday, January 12 and Friday, January 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Martin Luther German Evangelical Church, 499 Preston St. on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.

Lois Reeves (nee Clapp) - 01/15/2006
passed away on Friday, January 13, 2006 in Ottawa in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Norman Edward Reeves. Mother to Richard and Gail (Greg), grandmother to Stephen and Matthew. Sister of Ruth and Harry. Predeceased by 5 brothers. As requested by Mom, there will be no funeral. Cremation with Interment in Brockville at a later date.

Colonel E. W. Ryan CD - 12/25/2005

With his daughters by his bedside, Colonel Pat Ryan passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23rd, 2005, at the Ottawa Hospital. In his 80th year, he is survived by his wife Rita and their four children: Karyn, Vincent, Jo and Dean. He was the proud grandfather of Paul, Steven, Ryan and Simona and great-grandfather to Kayleigh. Also surviving him is his youngest brother, Jack; his other brother, Don, predeceased him.
Born in Kitchener on March 22nd, 1925, he studied Engineering, in London, at the University of Western Ontario and later at the University of Michigan where he received dual Masters: Aeronautical and Electrical Engineering.
Pat is one of the few veterans who served in all three branches of the Canadian Armed Forces: a piper with the Scottish Fusiliers at age 15; a pilot in the Royal Navy at 20, and a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1945 until 1976. During his career, he had postings in Whitehorse, Ottawa, Washington, and Clinton, where he served as Commanding Officer. Following his retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces, he became Assistant Dean of Engineering at Carleton University and later was editor of The Canadian Aeronautics and Space Journal.
An accomplished pilot, engineer, and writer, he will be fondly remembered by his family as a bagpiper, organist, painter, avid reader and tinkerer. His generosity and sharp sense of humour will be greatly missed and never forgotten by those who knew him.
We would like to express our gratitude to the healthcare team of the ICU at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital. As Pat supported numerous charities, memorial contributions to your favourite charity would be appreciated. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

Sylvia Saslove - 01/16/2006
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Sylvia at the age of 76 on Monday, January 16, 2006. Beloved wife of Ralph Saslove and mother of Andrea (Mark Shore) and Howard (Joanne Hodder). Proud grandmother of Zachary and Jordan. Sister to Lou (Miriam) and Paul Weiner (Eleanor). She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. We will all miss her dearly. Funeral service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 10:30am. Interment to follow at the Jewish Community Cemetery, Bank Street. Shiva to be held at 2135 Johnston Road from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be much appreciated. A special thank you to the staff of the 5th floor at the Ottawa General for their kindness and special attention.

(June 28th, 1909 – January 10th, 2006) Peacefully at Hillel Lodge, on Tuesday, January 10th, 2006 in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Dora. Father of David (Rona), Faye Helman (Moshe) and Susan Cohen (David). Much loved Zaidi Sam to Tamar and Gilad Helman (Lana) and Brett and Hilary Schaenfield and great grandfather to Noah Helman. He is predeceased by his brother David Schaenfield. The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the dedicated staff at Hillel Lodge. A Graveside Service will be held at The Jewish Community Cemetery, Bank Street on Wednesday, January 11th, 2006 at 2 pm. Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 54 years to "Pat" Patricia (Campbell). Cherished father of Mary Ann Swerdfeger. Son of the late Russell and the late Alice Swerdfeger of Morewood, Ontario. Arn was a highly respected teacher and then principal of Centennial Public School, devoted to the education of children with special needs. He was a faithful member of Woodroffe United Church and past president (1995/96) and active member of the Kiwanis Club of Sage of Ottawa. Arn had a wonderful sense of humour and will be missed by his many friends and relatives as the caring, thoughtful and hard working person that he was. The family would like to thank Dr. Taylor, Dr. Gick, the many nurses, PSWs, neighbours and friends who cared for Arn and gave the family invaluable support. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 7-9pm, and Wednesday from 10-11am. Funeral Service will be held at Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (please specify for multiple myeloma research) or the Woodroffe United Church Memorial Fund.
