Peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 21st, 2006 in his 79th year with his wife at his side following a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of Margaret (Wood) for 58 years. Proud and loving father of Susan, Nancy, Robert (Lori) and Kathleen. Loved and cherished by grandchildren Shawna (Bryce Vincent), Ryan, Kelsey, Braden and Mallory. Lovingly remembered by brother Gary (Sandra) of North Bay, many nieces and nephews, life long friend Don Lewis, and family and friends. Predeceased by parents Orrin and Adeline, brother Orrin Jr. and sister Betty. Roy retired from the Ottawa Police as Staff Inspector after 37 years of service. He subsequently began a new venture and for 18 years operated Gilwood Engravers. Roy was a dedicated 32nd Degree Mason for 53 years and active until his illness. He was a Past Master of Ashlar Lodge and Luxor Daylight Lodge and D.D.G.M., District 2, in 1995 and will be missed by many Masonic friends. Roy was a member of Tunis Temple Shrine and the Scottish Rite. Friends may call at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Thursday 7 to 9pm and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, February 25th, 2006 at 11am, followed by a reception in the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens at a later date. In memoriam donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society are welcomed. A Masonic Service for R. Wor. Bro. Gilchrist will be held at the Central Chapel on Thursday, February 24th at 7:30pm.

Suddenly in hospital on Saturday, February 18, 2006 in her 77th year. Loving mother of Manuel(Jamie) and Joseph(Ana Clara) and dear wife of Manuel. Dear sister of Conceiçâo da Silva Pereire. Predeceased by brother Adriano. Maria will be dearly missed by many family members and friends in Canada and Portugal. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St. on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 from 2 - 4 to 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 151 Laurier Ave. E. on Thursday, February 23 at 12 noon.

Barbara Frances Griffiths (nee Hollyman) - 02/27/2006
Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital on Saturday, February 25th, 2006, age 87 years, formerly of Lachine, Quebec. Beloved wife of the late George Griffiths. Loving mother of George (Rachelle) of Toledo, Ontario, Ross (Lynn) of Lagos, Nigeria, Pat (Bob) of Ottawa, Eric (Ditte) of Oakville, and David (Catherine) of Calgary. Cherished Grandma of Derek, Andrea; Scott, Ian; Craig, Evelyn, Neil, Sharon; Quinten, Colin; Alexa, Mitchell and Chatham. A private family funeral service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Sunday, March 19th, 2006. Interment Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal.

Constance Mary Hagan - 03/05/2006
(Nee Arnold) passed away in Ottawa on March 5, 2006 in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband Robert and her daughter Dianne Kirkpatrick (Don). Survived by her daughter Mary Jane Green (Richard) and grandchildren; Tom Green, Joe Green, Jill Paton (Hugh), Katie Nightingale (Jamie) as well as great grandsons Sam, Ben and Geoffrey Paton and Patrick and James Nightingale. A Memorial Service will take place at Steckley Gooderham Funeral Home,Barrie, Ontario, Worsley Street, on March 11, 2006 at 11am.

Dr. C.G. (Charlie) Ph.D Hickman - 02/24/2006
In Pembroke on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at age 81. Beloved husband of the late Joan(nee Switzer). Survived by his daughters Katherine Burns and Marsha Stepleton and son Charles, his grandchildren Kelly, Lisa and Erik and by his great grandchild Kennedy Jo Kesiling. Dr. Hickman worked for many years with the Experimental Farm in Ottawa in animal genetics and was also a member of the Britannia Yacht Club. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road, Ottawa on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 from 2-4pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGary, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 11:30am. Alice Miu Hung Hung - 02/28/2006
Peacefully in hospital on Tuesday, February 28th 2006 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Chiu. Loving mother of John (Mary). Cherished grandmother of Kojo. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., on Thursday,March 2nd from 6-9 p.m., Friday from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time in the chapel at 10 a.m. A heartfelt thank you to Heather and Christine of the Palliative Care Unit at the Civic Hospital and Dr. Legault and the wonderful nursing staff at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre Palliative Care Unit. Marsha Lizbeth Jackson - 02/20/2006
Died suddenly on Saturday 18 February 2006 at the age of 54. Marsha will be eternally missed by her husband Michael and her beloved children, Piper (Eri), Meredith, Ramsay, and Noah. She also leaves her grand-daughter, our precious Poppy, and her very dear sister, Joey Church (Geoff) of Picton. Marsha was the daughter of Bill Newton, who died in 1987, and Marni (née Van Norman), who died in 2004. Marsha will also be sorely missed by her parents-in-law, Ronald and Jean Jackson, her sisters-in-law, Judy and Gillian Jackson, and her brother-in-law, Peter Jackson (MaryAnne) and their children, Stewart and Emily, all of Toronto. After getting her MA from Carleton University, where she studied English, Marsha went to Loyola College in Baltimore to earn her MEd. She then began an immensely fulfilling career as a teacher at Bishop Hamilton Montessori School in Orleans and Ottawa. She loved her students and they her. Never having lost her sense of wonder and curiosity, Marsha had a profoundly special way with children. Marsha was hugely well read, and we were on the way to the Alta Vista library when she died. We will miss her so very, very much. Everyone who knew Marsha is invited to visit the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Thursday, 23 February 2006: visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and a ceremony to celebrate and remember Marsha’s life from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers (or for those who wish) donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Robert Gordon Jenkins - 02/28/2006
passed away peacefully at Grace Manor, Ottawa on Tuesday, February 28th, 2006 in his 96th year. Predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Ena Parsons. Dearly loved father of Charles and his wife Basti of Ann Arbour, Michigan, Carol and her husband Jack Jenne of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Paul and his wife Sheila, and Kathryn, all of Ottawa. Predeceased by his son Alan in 1981.Cherished grandfather (Papa) of Daintry, Mary Liz, and Peter Jenkins, Lezlee, Bradley and Wendy Jenkins, Tim and Steven Jenne, Christopher, Caitlin, and Devin Jenkins and Claire, Paul and Alexis Ospechook. Great-Grandfather of eight. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Salvation Army Grace Manor for the devoted care given to Gordon. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Private family service. Dear sister of the late Jacques (Denise), the late Maurice (Pauline), John (Barb), Yvonne (Henry), Jimmy (Diane), Lynda (Gilles), Yvette (Bob), Helene (Stephane), Ricky (Linda), Ronnie (Sandra), Paul, Freddie (Dale), and Bruce. Predeceased by her parents Percy and Desneiges. Laurette will also be missed by her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Marie and Mary Ellen Broecker (Lothar) of Ottawa. Cherished grandfather of Brian and Lori. Predeceased by brothers Rolly, Don and Stan. Ray will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. passed away peacefully at home on March 2nd, 2006 with family at her side at the age of 88. Wife of the late Albert R. Martel. Beloved mother of Suzanne (Richard), Annette (Frank) and her grandsons John and Patrick MacNeil. Predeceased by her parents Emilien Martel and Helene Champagne, 1 brother and 1 sister. Survived by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Deeply loved and will be missed by many that were blessed by her presence, especially dear family members Sylvie, her special angel, Bill, Anne, Frank and a special grandma to Monika, Billy and Abby. She will miss her adoring pets Lucky, Mandy and Max.
