Henry Anness
At Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Wednesday, October 13th, 2004, at the age of 81 years, Henry Anness of Port Elgin and formerly of Bruce Township. Husband of the former Alberta Reid. Father of Brian and his wife Brigit of Markham, and Barry and his wife Donna of Scarborough. Papo to Graham, Kevin and Jason Anness. Brother-in-law of Eldon and Gwen Reid. He is predeceased by one sister and six brothers.
Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. on Friday. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Johnston officiating.
Memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Port Elgin United Church Building Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Ruth Anderson
After spending a wonderful Christmas Day with her family, the former Ruth Martin of Southampton and formerly of Valens, Ontario, passed away at the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Thursday, December 25th, 2003, at the age of 73 years. Beloved wife of James Anderson for 49 years. Loved mother of Marion Anderson, Sharon and her husband Gerry Evans, all of Port Elgin, Brett Anderson of Kitchener, and Jeannie and her husband James McCallion of Burns Lake, B.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elwin, Noah, and Jason McCallion of B.C., James and Melissa Evans, and A.J. Anderson, all of Port Elgin, her great-grandson Ethan McCallion of B.C., twin brother Reg Martin and his wife Hannah of Sault Ste. Marie, and by her sisters Jean and her husband Rev. Jack Shannon of Niagara Falls, and Fern and her husband Don Moore of Creston, B.C. She is predeceased by her son Scott.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Paramount Drive Memorial Church, 1035 Paramount Drive, Hamilton on Wednesday, January 7th, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Jack Shannon officating. Funeral arrangements in the care of the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin.

Allen, Joan Eileen
Suddenly in London, on Saturday, February 17th, 2001, in her 59th year, the former Joan Mayville, beloved wife of Jim Allen of Port Elgin,loving mother of Debbie Archer, Patty Underwood and Kevin Gruberbauer, and Michael Allen, all of Port Elgin.Special Nanny to David, Joshua and Sarah Archer, Jenna, Kyle and Deanna Underwood.Sister of Barb Levack and her husband Paul of Amherstburg, Jim Mayville and his wife Marilyn of Kingsville, and Bob Mayville and his wife Barb of Amherstburg.Predeceased by one son Mark Anthony in 1965.She will be especially missed by her dog Frisky.

At the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton on Wednesday, March 24th, 2004, at the age of 82 years, the former Ruby Bell. Wife of Harold Alexander. Mother of Carolyn and her husband Bill Rivers of Georgetown, and Carman and his friend Beth McGee of Frederick, Maryland.Grandma to Philip, Scott, Andrew, Jaclynn and Brandon. Sister of Lorlie Downey of Surrey B.C., Effie McTavish of Toronto, Milton Bell and his wife Jean of Kitchener, Gordon Bell and his wife Anne of Abbotsford, B.C., Dorothy and her husband Harry Alway of St. Thomas, Sheila and her husband Al Westlake of Sarnia, and Aletta Bell of London. Sister-in-law of Lloyd Alexander.She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Scott Acton and his wife Carrie of Huntsville and Rob Butchart and his wife Cindy-Jo of Paisley. Grandfather of Matthew and Carly. He is also survived by his sister Eva and her husband Jim Crawford of Walkerton, brothers-in-laws, Charlie Collins of Port Elgin, Gordon Tanner and his wife Reita of Cargill and sisters-in-law Sandy Acton of Waterloo and Nina Nastke and Keith Dickison of Mildmay. Predeceased by sisters Iona Tanner and Peggy Collins and by his brother Jack.

Tupling, Ora Marjorie
At the Southampton Care Centre on Friday, June 21st, 2002 at the age of 92 years, the former Ora Martin. Wife of the late Carl Tupling. Mother of Jackie and her husband Nelson Robertson, and Gary and his wife Lucette all of Port Elgin. Grandmother of Randy Robertson of Belleville, Carla and her husband Rob Dunlop of Port Elgin, Ranceand his wife Kari Tupling of Port Elgin, and Chantalle Nicholls of Paris, Ontario. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Alan Martin and the late Del Martin. Sister-in-law of Isabelle Martin of Thunder Bay, the late Frankie Atkins, and the late Doris Sturgeon McCartney.Mrs. Tupling was predeceased by her daughter Lois Dollar in 1987.

At his residence in Port Elgin, on Monday, December 24th, 2007 at the age of 84 years, Earle Ziegler. Husband of the former Donna Colwell. Father of Karen and her husband Jim Prentice of Calgary, AB., Richard and his wife Lisa of Toronto, and Paul and his wife Frances of Port Elgin. Grandfather of Christina Winger, Cassia Prentice and Kate Prentice, Sarah Ziegler and Grace Ziegler, and Addison Ziegler, David Ziegler and Megan Ziegler. He is survived by his sister Marie Jacklin. Predeceased by one sister Gladys Maas.

Brother of Nelson and his wife Shirley, Ron and his wife Karen, all of Calgary, and Kay and her husband Mel Timms of Goderich. Dear friend and companion of Muriel Allen of Owen Sound and her family. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother James Young.

Young, John Hardie
At his home in Paisley on Saturday, December 16th, 2000, in his 75th year, Hardie Young of Paisley. Beloved husband of the late Arlene McEwan. Dear father of Brian of Waterloo. Rick of Ponoka, Alberta, Karen and her husband John Rhody of Elmwood, Kathy and her husband Ken Rae of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Diane and her husband Joe Gauthier of Chesley. he is also survived by 13 grandchildren, his sister Edith and her husband John Rae of Chesley and brother Wilbert and his wife Velma of Burlington.

Doreen Young

With her children by her side, Doreen passed away peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Wednesday, October 1, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, in her 81st year.
Born in Guelph, Ontario on June 3, 1922. Loving mother of Suzanne Leith and her husband, Doug, and son, Peter Young and his wife, Lisa, all of Southampton. Dear grandmother of Gillian, Meredith, and Andrew Marr, of Toronto. Dear sister of Patricia Cannon of Georgetown, Yvonne Henry and husband, Alex of Burlington, and Doug Dickson and wife, Donna, of London. Predeceased by her brother, Alvin and in- laws, Betty and Jean Dickson, and Barry Cannon. Fondly remembered by Herb and Ruth Young of Belleville, Ken Strong of Vancouver, Alan “Monk” Marr of Toronto, God -daughter, Laura Cannon-Sherlock of Durham and many nieces and nephews.
Doreen, a proud Veteran, served as Corporal in the RCAF from November 25, 1943 to July 24,1945. She was a physical training and drill instructor at Trenton Air Force Base. Her service medals and decorations included both Volunteer and RCAF awards. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #340, Port Elgin.
After the War, Doreen completed her education at the Royal Ontario Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She had previously won gold medals for piano at the Stratford Musical Festival in 1936, 1937 and 1938. In 1946, she won the Canadian Music Festival.
All her friends at the Chantry Center, and the Chantry Rug Hookers will miss Doreen. She will be remembered for her VW Beetle “FRV YNG”, prize-winning garden, her rug hooking, and her help in decorating the Chantry Center. She was a member of St.Paul’s Anglican Church and enjoyed cooking, baking, and preserving for her family.
Her children wish to thank Dr. Suke, the staff of the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, Veterans Affairs Canada, the VON, and the Red Cross for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Doreen’s guardian angels, Xenia Murphy, Minister Margaret Greenhow and Bruce McDougall for the love and support that enabled Doreen to live her last months with grace and dignity.
