Leaving to mourn Gen, his loving wife of 58 years; five sons: Joe, Bud (Pearl), Sean (Paula), Bill (Sheila), Neil (Maureen); four daughters: Myra (Kevin Maynard), Monica (Bruce Barnes), Marian (Mike Craig) and Colleen; four sisters: Clara, Torbay; Madeline, New Jersey; Sister Mary Eugenie, St. Patrick’s Convent, and Betty, New York; sisters-in-law Mary Tapper, Annie Tapper, Mildred Jennings and Cecilia Burling; 32 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, TORBAY. Visitation Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, June 25th, 2004, at 10 a.m. from Holy Trinity Church, Torbay. BENNETT, Patrick J. - Passed peacefully away in the arm's of his family at St. John's on Friday, March 19, 2004 after a brief illness with cancer, in his 75th year. He leaves to mourn with precious memories, his beloved wife, Patricia of 54 years, five sons and five daughters: Robert of St. John's, Mike (Sarah) of Alberta, Patsee (Paul) of St. John's, Debbie (Rod) of St. John's, Paul (Patty) of Nova Scotia, Daphne (Cliff) of British Columbia, Sharon (Mark) of Nova Scotia, Marylou (Peter) of Alberta, Perry (Denise) of Alberta, Jason (Roxanne) of Alberta, 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother Mike of St. John's and a large circle of relatives and friends. Patrick was a retiree of CN in St. John's, was an avid walker and had a keen interest in boats, trains, and fishing. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Alice Irene White (Hannaford), affectionately known as "Rene" (Patrick Street), at the age of 96 years, 3 months. Predeceased by her loving husband, Dan (December 13th, 1967), sons Joe (June 23rd, 1978), John (May 31st, 1998), Maurice (December 13th, 1998) and Jimmy (August 18th, 2001). Leaving to mourn 3 sons, George (Marg), Calgary, Eddy (Cindy), Brigus, Leo, St. John's; 4 daughters: Esther Burke (Terry), Alice Gibbons (Kevin), Elizabeth Hynes (Capt. Douglas) and Francis Galgay (Gus) all of St. John's; 36 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; one sister Pauline Malone, Paradise, 2 sisters-in-law Helen Hannaford, St. John's and Mary Hannaford, Clarenville, along with many other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the sisters of Mercy, doctors, nursing staff and LPN's of 3 West for the constant loving care given to Rene during her 7 year stay at St. Patrick's Mercy Home. Also, special thanks to Dr. Patrick O'Shea for his care and compassion towards Renee and her family during the past week. BASSETT, Robert – Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Home on Monday May 24th, 2004, Robert Bassett aged 78 years. Robert was a well known bartender and owner of the Greenwood Lodge, Mount Pearl. Predeceased by his father Walter (1975) and son Stephen (May 24, 1994). Leaving to mourn his best friend and wife Muriel (Butler); Sons Ted (Pat), Robert (Martina) and Daughter, Eleanor (Wheeler)(Eales); Grandchildren, Todd, Robert, Dana (Jamie Anthony), Donald Wheeler, Veronica (Michael Smith), Tony Eales, Jeffrey and Melissa Bassett; Great-grandchildren, Bradley Bassett, Kyle Brinston, Justin Anthony, Clinton and Billy Smith; loving cousin Mary Squires (Corcoran) who lovingly reared him to manhood; Brother-in-law, James Butler; Sister-in-law, Louise Newell (Albert). Also leaving to mourn a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Born in Western Bay and formerly of Grate's Cove, Trinity Bay. Predeceased by husband Daniel (1961), son: Patrick (1952) and parents: Johanna and James. Also predeceased by sisters: Mary Murphy (Frank), Kathleen Conran (Jack), Agnes Meekren (Harry), Ann Rogers (Richard); brother: James Fitzgerald (Vi) and sons-in-law: John Seward and Michael Byrd. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughters: Mary Seward, Marg Kennedy (John), Patricia Kavanagh (Fred), Josephine North (Ned), Barbara Ring, Judy Brown (Jack), and son: David Duggan; grandchildren: Deanne Handrigan (Gerald), Denise Randell (Tony), Johnny Kennedy (Pauline), Jackie Fradsham (Ian), Lynn Seward, Shelly Sparkes (Dwight), Edward North (fiancee Karen Tucker), Danny Ring, Bobby Ring, Adam Brown, Matthew Brown, Mark Duggan Battcock and Andrew Kavanagh; great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Benjamin and Jenni Randell, Patrick and Robert Handrigan, Katherine and Sarah Kennedy and Kate and Erin Fradsham. Will be sadly missed by many special nieces and nephews; special niece Sue Guba, Fort Meyers, Florida, as well as long time friend Mabel Avery. Leaving to mourn son Glenn (Christine) Edmonton, AB., daughter Leslie, Edmonton, AB., and precious granddaughter Samantha Josephine Dunn. Also leaving to mourn sister Carol Ann Pannell (Russ) Connecticut, U.S.A.; brothers John (Louise) Whitby, ON., Paul (Ruby), Mount Pearl and Peter, Bay Bulls. Also mourning his loss, sisters-in-law Catherine Gregory, Maude (Ed Greening), and Nora Duggan. Brothers-in-law Phonse, Tony and John (Laura).
