HICKEY, Rosanna M. – Passed away at the Miller Centre on Saturday, May 29th, 2004, Rosanna M. Hickey, age 82 years. Predeceased by her husband Michael; brothers Eddie and Fred; sisters Madonna and Lorraine; nephews Johnny Bishop and Ricky Kelly. Left to mourn son Michael (Angie); grandchildren Stephanie and Andrew; sister Eileen; brother-in-law Jack Bishop; many nieces and nephews; the staff and residents of Dinn’s Rest Home, Witless Bay, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. A special thank-you to the nurses at St. Clare’s Hospital and the Miller Centre for helping to make her last days more comfortable. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Sunday from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. – 12 noon, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, June 1st, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. from the Basilica. Predeceased by his sons Ronald, Dermot, infant son; and his brother Joseph. Leaving to mourn his wife of 54 years, Agatha (Dot); daughters: Elaine Walters (Wayne) and Janet Brown; sons: William, Aiden (Theresa) and Ray (Donna); brothers: John (Alice) and Michael (Judy); sisters: Margaret Crotty (John), California and Mary Nash (Bobby); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Gerald Whelan (Gertie); sister-in-law Margaret James; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Saturday, May 8th, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday, May 9th, from 12 noon – 10 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 10th, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. from Mary Queen of the World Church, Topsail Road. Melinda Hayden
HAYDEN, Melinda – Died peacefully at the Miller Centre on May 29th, 2004, at the age of 92. Melinda Hayden of Rushoon, formerly of Petite Forte. Predeceased by husband Osbourne Hayden; parents Anne Maria and Joseph Cheeseman; sisters Bridget and Anne (John Hann); brother Frederick (Hannah Butle), Charles (Adele Doody) and John (Elizabeth Stewart) and granddaughter Anne Marie Hayden. Left with loving memories are her children Anne Marie (with whom she lived for the pats 8 years), Blanche Dyer, Eric (Peggy Moores), James, Joseph (Rosalind Hoskins), Barbara (late Charles Anthony), Nora (Donald Hankins), Mary (Ches Bilka), David and Edmund (Mary Norman); sister Laura (late Alphonsus Miller); brothers Daniel, Joseph (Mary Frances Dicks) and Eric (Irene Greene); brother-in-law Allan Hayden; thirteen grandchildren: Paul (Francis Leonard), Rnady, Renee (David Pace) and Kelly Dyer; Edward and John Hayden; Jen and Jon Anthony; Mark, Scott, and Sarah Hankins; Alan Bilka and Daniel Hayden; five great-grandchildren, David, Desiree and Thomas Leonard; Emma Hayden and Abby Pace, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Resting at Holy Rosary Church, Petite Forte. Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 31st, 2004. God Grant Her Eternal Rest.

John William Halliday
HALLIDAY, John William- Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Saturday, May 15, 2004 of St. John's, aged 80 years. Predeceased by his parents William and Mary, brothers Paul and William, sister Doris. Leaving to mourn his wife of 58 years, Florence (nee Boone); sons John (Mary) and David (Elizabeth); grandsons: Stephen, Michael, Paul; and granddaughter Jennifer; sister Betty Wood (Clarke); brother Clifton (Irene); sisters-in-law Ruth Halliday and Madonna Halliday, as well as many nieces and nephews, other family and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Rd. Visitation to take place 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday with Funeral Mass from Corpus Christi Church at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. John V. Grenning
GRENNING, John V. (Jack) — It is with great sadness that the family of John (Jack) Grenning announce his passing away at home after a courageous struggle with cancer on Thursday, May 20th, at the age of 72 years. John was a Korean War Veteran and a lifetime member and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 1. Predeceased by his parents Isabelle and Jim Grenning; brothers: Greg and Jimmy; sister Mary; and two grandchildren: Brian and Mary-Kate Fleming. He will be forever missed and cherished by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Kathleen; his children: Margie (Brian Hanley), Yvonne (Brian Fleming), Greg (Ann Marie Sears), Maureen (Paul Kidney), Catherine (Noel Kelly), John (Marie Thomas), Donna (Derrick Lee), Barry (Donna Hancock), Isabelle (Terry Quinlan), Lisa (Rod Burton) and his nineteen grandchildren whom he dearly loved: Karla, Greg, Brian and Clair Hanley, Jill Fleming, Ryan Glenn, Paul, Barry, Heather and Catherine Kidney, Jonathan and Rebecca Grenning, Derrick and Andrew Lee, Benjamin and Noah Grenning, Holly and Jack Reese and Kathleen Burton. Two special family friends Jody Swyer and Elizabeth Callahan. He leaves to mourn also many relatives and friends as well as dear comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 1, especially Leo Hogan, Gerry Noseworthy, Sheila and Jim Kennedy, Teresa and Charlie Williams. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church on Saturday, May 22 at 1 p.m. Interment will be The Field of Honour, Mount Pleasant Cemetery. GOSS, John William – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on May 26th, 2004, John William “Johnny” Goss, 2 weeks before his 40th birthday. Predeceased by his father, John J .Goss. Left behind to celebrate his life and mourn his passing are his wife Bonnie (McDonald), step-children: Keri, Robyn and Renee Garland, his mother Joyce (Abery) Goss (Phillip Parsons), sisters Mary Patricia (Greg) Prowse and Anne Marie (Normand) Dinel, parents-in-law Marie and Jim McDonald, sister-in-law Wanda McDonald; aunts Josephine Goss, Sylvia (Clyde) Pretty, Dorothy Abery, uncle Cyril Abery, niece and goddaughter Kathryn Prowse, nephews Eric Dinel, niece Meghan Caines and a large circle of relatives and friends. John F. (Jack) Farrell, former CNR Conductor. Left with cherished memories are his loving wife and best friend of 59 years, Josephine (Lewis); daughters; Mary Elizabeth, Geraldine (Gary Baxtrom), Lorraine Miskell (Pete); sons: Bill, Holyrood; Kenneth (Meldy), Delta, BC; Roy, Gerard (Jocelyn); 11 grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Michelle (Brad Hickey), Maria and Peter Miskell, Denise Penton (Danny), Joanne (Jack Buckle), John (Shelley), Lisa (Derreck Ward) Farrell; Christine Lovoie (Steve); Stephen, Colin and Laura Farrell; and their mothers Barb and Sheila Farrell; 3 great-grandchildren: Karlee, Evan and Hannah. Also leaving to mourn two sisters: Lizzie Nugent, Kelligrews and Nance Browne; sisters-in-law Helen Dunn, Kay Molloy, both of Medford, Mass.; brother-in-law Fred Lewis, Holyrood, numerous nephews, nieces and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Born to the late Agnes (Shea) and William Farrell of Bar Haven, Placentia Bay, he is predeceased by his son Johnny aged 3 years and his sisters Mary Patterson and Ethel McDonald. Predeceased by his wife of 57 years (Alicia) December 23, 2003.
