Predeceased by her husband Richard (1992); grandchildren: Marion, David, Richard and Jeremy Scott (1983); son-in-law David Scott; daughter-in-law Anne Stamp; sisters Mary O'Brien, Agnes Everson; brothers: Thomas, Patrick, Jack and Andrew Martin. Leaving to mourn daughters: Frances Scott, Dolores (June Hawco), Philomena (Willie Power), Brenda (Pat Squires), Justina (John Woodfine), Jacqulina (Bob Whitten), Bobbie (Ron Follett); sons: Cyril, Andrew, Douglas (Phyllis), Richard (Marilyn), Martin (Dianne), Bill, Tony (Virginia); thirty-seven grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; special niece: Bun Neary; sisters-in-law: Sarah Hogan, Margaret Stamp, Kay Martin; brother-in-law: Edgar Stamp; daughters-in-law: Mary and Kathy; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, Torbay. Visitation Wednesday from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 20, 2004, at a time to be announced from St. Michael's Church, Flatrock. SUMMERS, Mary Catherine (n e Veitch) - Passed peacefully away on Saturday, November 20, 2004. Predeceased by her husband, A. Vincent, her sister, Sr. M. Assumpta, R.S.M., five brothers, Edward, Cyril, James, Philip and John. Leaving to mourn her daughters, Joan Mary Walsh and Ann (Bob) Marshall, her special granddaughter, Anne Marie MacIntosh, seven other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sister, Sr. M. Celine, R. S. M., and sister-in-law Gertrude Veitch.
Resting at Caul s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Sunday from 12 noon 10 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Kennedy and the staff of St. Patrick s Mercy Home for their professional and compassionate care.

ASHLEY, Beatrice (nee O Leary) Passed peacefully away at the Glenbrook Lodge on Tuesday, October 5th, 2004, age 78 years. Predeceased by her husband, John. Leaving to mourn her two sisters: Evelyn Power and Eileen Hartery; her brother Gordon O Leary, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Upon her request, Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service on Thursday, October 7, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. from Caul s Chapel.

Edward Boland
BOLAND, Edward - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family on October 1st, 2004, Edward Boland, aged 79 years of St. John's. Son of the late Michael & Mabel (Spry) Boland. Predeceased by his wife Gertrude, brother James, sisters Cecilia Doyle, Alice Hollett and Catherine Doyle. Leaving to mourn are his children: Leo (Maggie) of Avondale, Elizabeth Goldsworthy (Ross) of Calgary, Edward (Philomena), Joan Young (Derrick), Frank (Shirley), Frances Dollimont, all of St. John's, Pat (Daphne) of Mount Pearl, Francine Abbott (Dennis), Musgrave Hr., Cathy Goodland (Gerard), Julia Boland of Dartmouth, N.S. and Patricia Boland of C.B.S. Also leaving to mourn, his brother Leo (Joyce) of Halifax; 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. James Thomas Brennan
BRENNAN, James Thomas (Jim) Passed peacefully away at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, October 23rd, 2004, aged 67 years. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Ida and John Brennan, mother and father-in-law, Mary and William Smith, and a number of Brennan, Hann and Smith family members. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife of 47 years, Marie (nee Smith); eight children: Rhonda (Leo McDonald), Donna, Wade, Jimmy (Bonnie), Mary (Bob Gardiner), Sandra (Kevin Chafe), Blair (Renee) and Jacky. He is forever loved by his 18 grandchildren and one great-grand child. He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters; Walter (Madonna), John (Stella), Ann (Don White), Mary (Ambrose Williams), Viola (Bob Candow), Helen (Gerry Boland); his sisters-in-law Alice Whelan, Margie Barratt, Helen Fullington, Kit Brennan, Edna Hann and Aunt Vi and Uncle Jack Bailey. He will be missed by a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends and neighbours, especially Betty and Joe Frampton and special son-in-law Don Cox. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made in his memory to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Anne and brother: Herbert. Leaving to mourn are his three sisters: Margaret, Agnes (Degan), Dallas, Texas, and Anne Crotty (Frank); five brothers: John (Elaine), Edward (Helen), Phillip (Carolyn), Calgary, Alberta, Joseph (Helen), Brampton, Ont. and Brendan (Sandra); special friends Lorena and Mary Whelan and Kevin and Lorraine Kerwin; as well as many other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, on Wednesday, October 27 from 8 pm - 10 pm and Thursday, October 28 from 2 pm - 5 pm and 7 pm - 10 pm. Funeral Mass to take place on Friday, October 29 from Mary Queen of the World Church at 10:30 a.m., with a private family inurnment at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations in his memory can be made to the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Mary Queen of the World.

BURKE, Elizabeth (nee White) Passed peacefully away on Friday, October 8th, 2004, at the Health Sciences Centre, Elizabeth Burke, aged 86 years. Predeceased by her husband Thomas, 1986. Leaving to mourn five sons: John, Alberta; Myles, Labrador City; Kevin, Ontario; Tony, Ontario; Keith (Michelle), St. John s; two daughters: Peggy (Wallace Critch), St. John s; Patricia (Patrick Doyle), St. John s; three sisters: Norma, Kay and Bride, Ontario; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and care-givers Mary McCarthy and Debbie Hearn. At her request, cremation has taken place. Funeral Service on Monday, October 11th, 2004, at 12 noon from Caul s Chapel. Inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. No flowers by request.

Laura Mary Byrne
BYRNE, Laura Mary (Hunt) - Formerly of Conche, passed peacefully away surrounded by family and friends at her son's residence, Tuesday, October 25th. Predeceased by her husband Bernard, parents Tom and Ellen Hunt, brothers Herbert and Leo, sister Doreen and grandson Michael. Leaving to mourn 16 children: Maude (Frank), Donna (Ed), Toni, Don (Ida), Victor (Lucy), George (Alice), Kevin (Donna), Bernie (Gertie), Barry (Bertha), Jacinta (Rick), Goretti (Gary), Terry (Theresa), Jude (Delight), Millie (Bernie), Andy (Karen), Bill, 37 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Mary and Carmel and brother Patrick, many relatives and numerous friends. Visitation was held at Caul's Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 26th. Funeral Services will take place at Sacred Heart Church in Conche with Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Friday, October 29th. As an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Cancer Society and /or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
