O’RIELLY, Joseph Patrick – Passed peacefully away at his residence on Wednesday, April 20, 2005. Joseph Patrick O’Rielly, originally from St. Brendan’s, age 81 years. Predeceased by his son Michael, 1989; brothers Doug, Ern, Jack; sisters: Josephine, Bride, Nell, Kitty; and first wife Isabel Mackey. Left with fond and loving memories, his wife Hazel (nee Kelly); children: Mary Flight (Terry), Patricia Flight (Randy), Catherine O’Rielly, Leonard O’Rielly (Michele), John O’Rielly (Kim), Patrick O’Rielly (Rose), Iva Brewer (Tony) and Colleen O’Rielly; grandchildren: Jillian, Amanda, Holly, Kristy, Daniel, Matthew, Sam and Caroline; brothers-in-law: Lawrence (Sally), Hazen and Fr. Leonard Kelly; sisters-in-law Lucille Harty (Ray) and Marie Fallon; as well as many other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Thursday and Friday from 12 noon – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 23rd, 2005, from Mary Queen of Peace Church, Torbay Road. REDMOND, Brian Patrick- Passed away suddenly at his residence in Pouch Cove on April 23, 2005. Brian Redmond, June 20, 1956 – April 23, 2005, aged 48 years. Predeceased by his father Ron Patrick Redmond in 1992. Left with found and loving memories is his very special Mother Mary Redmond; Wife Diane (nee Ryan); Sons Ronald and Eric; Step-son Robert; also leaving to mourn many special Aunts, Uncles, Relatives and Friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay. Visitation on Monday 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Tuesday 12 noon – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Wednesday April 27 from St’ Patrick’s Church at 9:30 a.m. Cremation to follow and inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

RODGERS, John (Bob) – Passed away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, age 66 years. Predeceased by wife Barbara (nee Hannaford); mother and father, Elizabeth and Francis; brother Francis. Left with fond and loving memories, son Rob (Karen), Sisters: Beth Ryan, Jean Bastow (John); sisters-in-law: Carmel Abbott (Fred), Debbie Pike, and Pam Reardon (Gary); brothers-in-law: Kevin Hannaford (Darlene), Robert Hannaford (Linda), Gerard Hannaford (Zeta); special niece Sharon Corcoran (John); Uncle Owen Moore (Jean); also many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Peter Paul Ryan
RYAN, Peter Paul – Formerly of Little Paradise, Placentia Bay - with sadness in our hearts, but with thanks for his presence in our lives, we announce Peter’s Journey to eternal rest in his 80th year. Following a courageous battle with cancer he left this world in the arms of his loving wife, Beth. Predeceased by his loving first wife Elizabeth Ryan (Payne), daughter Sheila-Marie, grandson Ryan Harvey, brother Anthony, sister-in-law Gladys Ryan and parents John and Elizabeth Ryan. Left with cherished memories are his wife Beth (Boulos nee Berrigan), children: Deborah (Don Sheridan) NZ, Robert (Cecily), Paul (Laurie), Winnipeg, Pierre (Kate Williams), Karen Harvey, Sean, Michelle (Blair Stacey), Ottawa; grandchildren: Maggie, Kendra, Haley, Nicola and Alexander Ryan, Kristen Harvey, Sheilagh and Anthony Stacey; sisters Dorothy (Bernard Hickey), Mary (May) Ward, Kay (Jim Houlihan), Blanche (Joe Dray); brothers Greg and Martin (Cecilia); step-children: Danica and Celeste Mercer, Nadine and Daniel Boulos-Jarvis, Michael Boulos, Megan and Haley Caines, Kayla and Anna Osbourne, Dean and Dale (Darlene) Miller. Also his extended family, the members of the Tran, Huynh and Trinh families (Ontario and Alberta); sisters-in-law Rose (Robert Stacey), Ethnea (Charles Guiney), Justine (Doug Chaytor), Josephine Hiscock, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Peter was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and an active member of St. Pius X Parish. He served as a postmaster of Little Paradise, worked 42 years with the Canadian National Communication (CNT/TNT), he was a former school trustee with the Placentia School Board and an advocate for social justice. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. A celebration of Peter’s life will take place with Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church, Smithville Crescent at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.

Shirley Samuelson
SAMUELSON, Shirley (nee Smith) – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, April 19th, 2005, Shirley Samuelson, age 73. Predeceased by her son Gary and grandson Che. Leaving to mourn sons: Leslie and John; daughters: June (special friend John), Debbie and Arlene; special son-in-law Patrick; grandchildren: Travis (Amanda), Chantel (Steve) and her father Mike; Sarah and Ian; great-grandchildren: Alexander and Braydon; brothers: Gordon (Rita) and Andrew (Helen); sister Georgina Parsons (Hall); and a large circle of nieces and nephews; special niece Jo-ann; and a large circle of friends and neighbors; special friends Lizzie, Dewey, Mary, Christina and Terry. WHITTLE, Eleanor – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Saturday, April 2nd, 2005, Eleanor Mary Whittle. Predeceased by her parents, Gus and Bride Whittle. Leaving to mourn with fond and happy memories, her three brothers: Peter (friend Betty), Tom (Margaret), Kevin (Patricia); her five loving sisters and very best friends: Sr. Patricia, St. Patrick’s Convent, St. John’s; Catherine, Barbara, Grace Cooper (Rick), Margaret Pitcher (David), Orleans, Ontario; her devoted aunt, Margaret Clarke; her loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Flemming Andersen
ANDERSEN, Flemming — Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Center on February 15, 2005 after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer, Flemming Andersen, aged 60 years. Predeceased by his parents Kai and Ellen-Anna Andersen. Leaving to mourn are his two sons: Steven and Jason (Maricel); one daughter, Jennifer (Jim); his best friend Diana and two grandchildren: Steven Jr. and Brianna. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Thursday, February 17 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Friday, February 18th at 9:30 a.m. from Corpus Christi Church, with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Keith Garfield Blagdon
BLAGDON, Keith Garfield – passed away on February 9th, 2005, at the Health Sciences Centre, Keith Garfield Blagdon of Fortune, age 49 years. Predeceased by his parents, Rita and Charles. BRUCE, Florence H. (nee Pynn) – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Friday, February 11, 2005, at 84 years of age. Predeceased by her husband, Frank in 2003 and her daughter-in-law Judy in 2004 and her sister Ruth, 1998. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her only son Frank, two daughters Marcella (David) and Doris (Frank) all of St. John’s; one brother Charles of Miami, Florida; seven grandchildren: Gail, Glenn (Maggie), Darren (Marie), Shane, Joy (Charlie), Jason (Cheryl) and Paul (Krista); four great-grandchildren; as well as two sisters-in-law Marcella Whelan (her best buddy) and Mary Furey; two brothers-in-law, Ed Bruce and Leslie Bruce (Pat) all of St. John’s and several nieces and nephews, relatives and friends and special friend Pam. A special thank-you to her extended family at Elizabeth Towers, where she was known to all as Nanny Bruce. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. James P. CHAFE, Lawrence (Larry) – Passed peacefully away with dignity and courage in the presence of his loving family at the Palliative Care Unit, on February 5th, 2005 , after a hard fought battle with cancer. Lawrence Chafe (Larry), of Petty Harbour, age 75. Predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Margaret, brother Rennie, sisters Mary McDonald and Rita Holden; brothers-in-law Eugene McDonald, Art Holden, Reg Cox, Clyde Searle; sister-in-law Theresa Chafe and niece Rena Clarke. Left to mourn his loss and celebrate his life, are his loving and devoted wife, Minnie (Searle); sons Larry (Kellie), Roger (Peggy); daughters: Ruby (Ron Spurrell), Lana (Lu Doss); six much loved grandchildren: Taylor, Jordan, Josuha, Robin, Adam, Amy; brother Jeffery; sisters: Stell (Luke Bidgood), Gertrude (Patrick Parsons), Marion Cox, Bernice (Brenie Clarke), Rose (Bill Stephenson); brothers-in-law Tom and Allan Searle; sisters-in-law: Bernadine Chafe, Ruby Earle (Leonard), Lorraine Searle; Uncle Gerald (Mary) Doyle and Aunt Frances Doyle; 50 special nieces and nephews and life long friend Madeline Whitten.
