McDonald, Florence Mary – Commercial Education Teacher and Owner of McDonald’s Commercial School, passed away at her residence on April 3, 2006. Predeceased by her brothers: Frank (Clara), Gus (Mary), Derm; brother-in-law Ed Curran; and sister Joan Power. Leaving to mourn her sister Noeleen Curran, Virginia; sister-in-law Violet McDonald; brother-in-law William Power; and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to nephews Frank (Jean) McDonald, Gerard (Linda Bowring) Power and Ed (Linda) Power and niece Marie (Rody) Kelly for their kindness and care. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 5th, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. MURPHY, Michael – Passed quietly away at the Health Sciences Centre, after a noble battle with cancer, Michael Joseph Murphy. Predeceased by father Augustus (1972), mother Molly (1990), brother John (2002), and brother Nicholas (2005). Leaving to mourn sister Marguerite, brother Billy, sister-in-law Mary and niece Nicole, sister-in-law Kathy (Dale), nephew Sean and niece Heidi, the Kidney Family – Frances and Tom, Noel and Roma, Brenda and Rick, Marion and Terry, Paul and Maureen. James Wilson O'Neill
O’NEILL, James Wilson (June 1, 1923- April 22, 2006) – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear father James O’Neill in his 83rd year after a courageous battle with Cancer. Predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years Ellen O’Neill, two brothers Francis and Leo and two sisters Bride and Hannah. Left with fond and loving memories are his sons: Gerard (Donna), Jim (Jenny), Brian (Denise), Gary (Delia), Carl (Kristen), Ward (Michele); daughters: Diane (Mark) Cleveland, Margaret (Andy) Hack and Denise (Dean) Collins; one brother: Michael (Stella) O’Neill; sisters-in-law: Theresa O’Neill and Mary St. Croix; brothers-in-law: Patrick (Madonna) Ward and Francis Molloy; 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. PARSONS, Douglas Joseph – Passed away suddenly at St. Clare’s Hospital on April 24th, 2006 after a brief illness, Douglas Joseph Parsons, of Pouch Cove, age 57 years. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Parsons; parents-in-law Albert and Florence Noseworthy and special aunt Annie Parsons. Leaving to mourn his sad loss are his loving wife of 30 years, Marilyn; sons Geoff (Bev) and Brian; daughters: Tammy, Una, Lisa and Charlene; two precious granddaughters Alyssa and Justine; his 8 brothers, 5 sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, special neighbour Florence Mulley and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay. Visitation Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, April 28th, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.from St. Michael’s Church, Flatrock. RYAN, Margaret Mary (nee Walsh) 1923-2006. Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home on Saturday, April 8th, 2006, in the presence of her loving family. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Johanna Walsh; brothers John, Edward, Francis, Nicholas and Joseph and sister Kathleen Furlong (all of St. Brendan’s). Left with a lifetime of loving memories are her husband Patrick, sons Frank (Heather), Harold (Janice), daughter Catherine Steele (Richard and step-sons Richard and Ryan) an her very “special” children David, Mary Ann and Gordon; her precious grandchildren Darren and Francis Ryan; Matthew, Nicholas and Victoria Ryan. Also, leaving to mourn her sisters-in-law Mary Ann Turner of Buchans and Agnes Walsh of St. Brendan’s, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews and special friends at both St. Brendan’s and St. John’s. Marguerite M. Ryan
RYAN, Marguerite M. - Passed away peacefully on April 22, 2006 at the Masonic Park Nursing Home. Marguerite (Marg) Ryan (nee Moriarity) in her 94th year. Marguerite was born in Harbour Grace but lived in St. John’s most of her life. Marguerite had a passion for life and loved to travel. She lived in Toronto from 1981-1995. Marguerite loved people and was very active in several bowling leagues and enjoyed a good game of cards. Marguerite is predeceased by her husband Jerome and her parents William and Josephine (Hayden) Moriarity, eight siblings and one great grandchild Danielle Chafe. Marguerite leaves to mourn her seven loving children Gerald, James (Shirley), Joan Anning (Clair), Ron (Jean), Bill (Ruby), David (Nettie) and Marilyn Cummings, all of St. John’s except Joan who lives in Cambridge Ontario. Marguerite also leaves to mourn 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 7p.m. – 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday April 25th, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick’s Church. Gertrude Stamp
STAMP, Gertrude (nee Ashley) – Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home on April 22, 2006. Gertrude Stamp (nee Ashley). Predeceased by her beloved husband Danny. Irene Walsh
WALSH, Irene (Clements, born July 18th, 1934) Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family on April 16th, 2006 at Hoyles- Escasoni. Predeceased by her parents Richard (Dick) and Helen and brothers, Jimmy, Frank, George, Charlie, and Robert; parents-in-law Edward and Angela Walsh. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, her husband of 51 years, Michael; her two daughters, Gladys (Nat Hutchings) and Theresa/Tree (Lisa Zigler); her sister Dolly (Jackie Ershler) and her brother Richard (Anita); her 6 grandchildren 8 great grand children, special uncle and aunt Gordon and Kay Clements of Petty Harbour, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Also left with cherished memories, Pudgie, her faithful and loving dog. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Hoyles/Escasoni Complex for their care and compassion. WILLIAMS, Jordain Daisy – Passed peacefully away on April 11, 2006 after a lengthy illness at the Janeway Children’s Hospital, Jordain Daisy Williams, age 16. Predeceased by her father Charles Williams, grandfathers Charles Williams, Clarence Ivany and grandmother Daisy Williams. Left with loving memories are her mom Anna Williams (Paul Cleary); her brother Chuck (Danielle); her uncles Clar Ivany (Denise), Willis Ivany (Terri-Lynn), Keith Ivany (Josie); aunt Lorraine Follett and very special aunt Susan McCarthy. Also her very best friend Natasha Rumbolt who was always by her side. Her cousins Michael and Amy, Tanner and Autum, Shane, Ashtin and Melissa, Nicole and Nadia. Her favorite nurse Cathy Clarke. Special thanks to the J4 surgery nurses and staff. Also Doctors Deane, French, Fitzpatrick, O’Dea and Crosbie. Also Debbie Lynch, Cathy Tulk and Mary Skinner for their love and support. A huge thank you to the Rehab staff, especially Val Simms, Charlotte Ackerman, Peter, Dave, Virginia, June and Dr. Pal. We will never forget your kindness. YETMAN, Margaret (Anstey) – Passed peacefully away on April 8, 2006 at the L.A Miller, Palliative Care Unit in the presence of her loving family after a short battle with Cancer. Formerly from Frenchman’s Cove, Fortune Bay. Predeceased by her husband Bernard (1985), brother Norman (1998) and brother-in-law’s Howard Walsh (1993) and John Greening (2004). Leaving to mourn are her three daughters: Rosemary (Brian) Connolly (Mt. Pearl), Sharon (Guy) Samson (Mt. Pearl), Connie (Bob) McDonald (Mt. Pearl); six sons: Jerome (Diane Walsh) B.C., Gary (Cathy) Mt. Pearl, Bernard (Bonnie) Mt. Pearl, Terry (Jackie) Mt. Pearl, Jim (Lynn) Mt. Pearl, Brian (Veronica Eales) Mt. Pearl; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Kathleen Grenning, Harriett (Leo) Mahon, Celesta (Edward) Mitchell, Carrie Walsh; 4 brothers: Peter (Triffie), Albert (Patsy) Bernard (Jeanette) and Jack; sister-in-law: Louise Anstey and friend Cindy Yetman (B.C.) as well as other relatives and friends.
