Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry on Sunday, April 22, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer, in his 61st year. Beloved husband of Vera (nee Husak). Loving father of Kris Kearns and husband JR Melanson of Toronto, Kara and Jay Clausner of Brooklin. Dear grandfather of Stash Melanson and Zoe Clausner. Survived by brothers Joe and wife Laurie of Oro Station, Norman and wife Dianne of Aurora and sister Donna and husband Leo Doucet of Newmarket. Private service and interment. Family and friends welcome at wake on Saturday, April 28, 2001 from 3:00 p.m. at 111 South Garden Court, Port Perry. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Durham Access To Care, Paramed, North Durham Hospice and the dedicated nursing staff at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry.

Fondly remembered by his grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Predeceased by his sister Jean Linton. MEWHINNEY, Ronald (Ron)
Passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday April 22, 2001 following a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of Louise (nee Henderson). Loving father of Michele and her husband Phil Phillips, Jim and his wife Carole, and Paul and his wife Kathy. Proud grandfather of Troy, Clayton, Ian, Tyler and Julie. Brother of John, and Sylvia. Sadly missed by many others. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the hospital personnel, in particular the C.C.U. staff, for their wonderful care. Mr. Mewhinney will be resting at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A service in the chapel on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Cremation . "Old Grannie" to her 11 great-grandchildren. Survived by her sister Greta Haines. Predeceased by brother Hilton and sister Ivy. JOHNSON, Rhea Mae
After a lengthy illness at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton on Saturday, April 21st, 2001 in her 78th, beloved wife of the late Ronald "Red" Johnson (1992); dear mother of Judith (Dino) Pen, Bowmanville, Marilyn (Herb) Martin, Brantford and Ron Johnson, Scarborough; loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren survived by one brother and two sisters; predeceased by one sister and three brothers; also sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Rhea spent much of the last 15 years in a courageous battle with cancer and other illnesses. She was a two time cancer survivor and an inspiration showing her strength and determination during those battles. "And the battle still goes". Friends will be received at the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME, Nelson and Queen Street, on Monday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Funeral service to follow in the chapel at 3:30 p.m. Cremation. He is survived by his wife Jeanne Simpson of Ajax and his children Stephen and Elaine Simpson of Bowmanville, Blaine and MaryLee Ashworth of Calgary, Robert and Faye Simpson of Guelph, John andLouise Simpson of Bowmanville, David and Lynn Simpson of Burlington, Jane McIntyre of Whitby, Janet Simpson of Ajax, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by his sisters Dorothy Simpson-Gall of Edmonton, Kathleen Marquis of Port Hope, brother-in-law Alfred Perrin of Norwood and numerous other family members. Jim was predeceased by his sisters Ruth Perrin, Marion Guy, Ethel Hendry and brother Hilliard Simpson. Cremation. A graveside service will be held at Orono Cemetery at a later date.
