Dear mother of Lyle and his wife Marilyn of Oshawa, Barry and his wife Ruth of Sharon, Ont., Mel of Whitby, and Maurice and his wife Cheryl of Edmonton, AB. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Colin, Laurie, Derrick, Sharlene and her husband Jason, Carl, Julie, Jillian, Chad and Marsha. Dear sister of Herb Noland of Manitoulin Island, Rhoda Carson, Bernice Carson, both of Earlton, Ont., and predeceased by Harry and Roy Noland. "Poppy", proud veteran of the Canadian Merchant Navy, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, June 10, 2001, in his 75th year. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nora Kathleen "Nonie", and his children Jeff and Janice, Jamie, Patti and Steve, Kathi and Ray and Karen. Cherished grandfather of Melissa and Mat, Stephen, Anthony, Azyia and Tianna. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday June 13 at 3:30 P.M. at Accettone Funeral Home 384 Finley Ave., Ajax.

He was much loved by his wife of 57 years Mary, his children Marni Stephens, Tisha Robinson, Liz Moore and their husbands, his son Captain Gary Hunt (deceased), his grandchildren Christine, Samantha, Bill, Kathryn, Jacqui, Jesse, Emily, Sam and his sister Joie Parsons. A Memorial Service will be held at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, Bowmanville at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14. Loving grandma to Paul, Travis, and Michael. Marjorie will be remembered always for her friendly, giving nature. A family service will be held at a later date in Niagara Falls.

RICE, Dorothy (nee Gibbons)
Passed away peacefully at Parkview Home, Stouffville, in her 93rd year, on Saturday, June 9th, 2001. Predeceased by her husband James Rice and grandson Duncan Newlands. Lovingly remembered by Beverley and her husband Doug Newlands, Donalda and her husband Bob Abbot. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Gordon, Christine, Richard, Caren, Michelle, Jody and six great grandchildren and the Gibbons nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 7th, 2001 from the Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge, 23 Main Street South at 12:30 p.m. Visitation, one half hour prior to service time. MILLER, Stanley Wellington “Duke”
(Veteran of WW II and life member of Brooklin Canadian Legion Branch 152.) Peacefully in hospital on June 9th, 2001 in his 83rd year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Jessie (Gourley) of 53 years; his son Randy (Laurie) of Innisville, Alberta and daughter Heather of Ajax, Ontario. Dearly loved grandfather of Robert (Michelle), Kelly (Dave), Madison and Myles. Great grandfather of Curtis, Jessica, Amanda and Allyshe. He is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Lila Miller and brothers Allen, Orville, Clarence and sister Grace. With sadness, his family announces his sudden passing June 8, 2001. His courage throughout his illness touched us all. A wonderful caring companion to his wife Lucy, a devoted father to Jeremy and his wife Debbie Yanchula and a warm and loving grandfather to Daniel and Kelly. Passed away peacefully at home in Pickering on Friday, June 8, 2001, in his 73rd year. John Lickley, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed and remembered by all. READ, Jim
Passed away suddenly at the Rouge Valley Health System’s Ajax-Pickering Site, on Friday June 8, 2001, in his 88th year. Jim will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Nora (Patten), his children Alice (Gary Edgar), Jim (Ann), Marg (Howard Moore), Dave (Beth Ross), Connie (Terry Williams), Steve (Anne) and Tom (Paula), his grandchildren Lisa (Clark Menzies) and Phil (Kim) Edgar, Chris (Fiona) and Cheryl Moore, Susan and ‘Mike Read, Emily and Leanne Read, Pamela and Cameron Read, and his great grandchildren Jordan and Spencer Menzies. Jim was a brother to Grace Steward, Kay Darlington, and Violet Linton, and the late Gertrude James and Victor Read. As a WW2 veteran, he will also be missed by members of the Legion and the Canadian Corps. Friends and neighbours are invited to join with family to commemorate his life in a Memorial Service at the Canadian Corps, 142 Athol St. Oshawa, on Wednesday June 20, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. A former resident of Port Perry, Oshawa, and Sunnycrest Nursing Home in Whitby, and a retired employee of DuPlate Canada, Jim has donated his body to the University of Toronto Anatomy Department so that others may gain. The family wishes to thank all those who helped make Jim’s life easier in his later years, and would appreciate memorial donations made to the Lung Association of Ontario, 40 King St. West, Suite 202, Oshawa, L1H 1A4.

Cherished “Poppa Joe” of Michael, Amy, Jamie, Jonathan, Michael, Curtis, Alex and awaited by Matthew. Sadly missed by sisters Helen McClure and Eunice Euart. Predeceased by brother Bill and infant brother Lawrence. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Alice Koskin. At his request, an intimate family service was held, followed by cremation.
