Dearly loved Opa of Joshua and Heather; Cara, Jarod and Andrew; Marina, Bethany and Jenna; Rachel and Matthew. Dear brother of Lowell, Thelma, Bert, Rini, Nell and Fred. George was a very active member of Zion Christian Reformed Church. He was also a former member of the County Town Singers and the Oshawa Choral Society. George was instrumental in the inception of Gate 3:16 and Durham Christian Homes. George will be greatly missed by his family and friends. KANE, Norman Gerald
59 years young. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 18, 2001 surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Sharon, loving father of Jason. Only son of the late Anita and Otis Kane. Norm will be missed by his sisters Millie (late Leo Quinn), Dorothy (Tony Bookhout) and Kathleen (Cyril Vallee); sister-in-law Maureen (Michael McGuire); special uncle to many nieces and nephews. His zest for life, strength of character, generosity, humour, courage and unfailing dignity were an inspiration to all. Norm will be fondly remembered and much missed by close friends and family. Loved mother of Bill Shepard and his wife Judith of Scugog Island, and Jim Shepard and his wife Jeannette of Cambridge. Loving grandmother of Connie, Ray, Jeffery and Larry and great grandmother of Lacey, Shannon and Amber. Madeline is also survived by her sister Lois Lindsay of Markham. BELAK, Veronica Ann
Tragically, Veronica's life was taken while crossing an intersection on Friday, August 17, 2001, in her 14th year, with her brother Stephen by her side. Dearly beloved daughter of John Belak and the late Joyce who passed away April 30th, 2001. Loving sister of Stephen and Peter, and dogs Sonny and Cleo. Sadly missed niece of Nicholas and Catherine Belak of Thornhill and their son John-Paul, Aunt Mary of Vancouver; Aunt Gloria of England and her many aunts, uncles and cousins in England and South Africa. Veronica sadly leaves behind her friends from school, basketball and soccer. Quietly at home after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. Graham passed away on Friday August 17, 2001. He was born in Sheldon Birmingham, England to the late Eva and Harold Jackson. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Peggy) and his brother Alan (Norma) and Roderick (Wendy) of England. Graham is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews in England and Canada. Graham was the founder and operator of Jackson s Touch of Class Eatery and Dinner Theatre. He was a proud member of The Monarchist League of Canada, Durham Branch and has been the vice-chairman of the County Tour Carnival for five years. Of Cloyne, formerly of Bowmanville, at her residence surrounded by family on August 17, 2001, in her 92nd year. Born in Cape Breton she was Twice Past Matron of the Scarborough Eastern Star. The daughter of the late Phillip Gibbons and Henrietta Huntington. Beloved wife of the late Donald J. MacDonald. Mrs. MacDonald will always be loved and missed by her children Stanley (Meta) MacDonald of Gravenhurst, lsobel (Gil) Todd of Gravenhurst, David (Stella) MacDonald of Manchester, Marion (John) Buchanan of Cloyne, Christine (Gord) Lehman of Cranbrook, B.C. and Phillip MacDonald of Napanee. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, infant son Donald Francis and siblings Dick, Henry, Emily, Molly, Tense, Ruth, Caleb and Jetta. Visitation was held at Bethel United Church, Marion Bridge, on Thursday August 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Funeral Service held from there on Friday August 24 at 2:00 p.m. Interment Oakfield Cemetery.

MYERS, Rev. John Barry
Entered into rest at the Scarborough General Hospital on Friday, August 17, 2001. Father John was the beloved son of the late Barry Myers (1962) and Eleanor Simmons (1918) and beloved 'son' of the late Rita Cassidy (1978). Predeceased by an infant sister (1918) and sister, Rev. Sister Catherine C.N.D. (1993). He leaves behind his brother Bill and his wife Margaret, nephews Bill and his wife Leah and John, his niece Mary Anne, great nephews Daniel and David and his great niece Katie all of Pickering. Fondly remembered by his several cousins. Dear friend of Bob Ashmore and his wife Charlene and their family and dear friend of many in Oshawa, Bobcaygeon, Downeyville and Lindsay. Visitation will be held at St. Gertrude's Church, King St., Oshawa on Wednesday from 2:00-9:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial willbe held on Thursday, August 23 at 11:00 A.M.
