Suddenly as a result of a car accident early Friday morning September 14th, 2001, at the age of 20. Beloved son of Scott and Wendy. Loving brother of Amber. Lovingly remembered by his fiancé Jen Woolridge and family. Grandson of Fern Storey and the late Richard and Laurene Storey and Samuel and Teresa Barry. Nephew of Richard, Frank and his wife Janet, Merv and his wife Lisa. Rob and his wife Jaquie, Stephen and Lynn. Jamie will be forever remembered by his cousins, extended family and friends. Entered into rest at the Lakeridge Health Services in Uxbridge on Friday, September 14th, 2001. George Douglas Durward, in his 86th year, was the beloved husband of Evelyn Atkinson of Sunderland. Loving father of Stan and Karen of Sunderland, Maryellen Scheepers of Sunderland, Gregory of Oshawa and Darlene of Sunderland. Dearly remembered by his grandchildren Brooke and Rick, Randa, D'Arcy and Michele, Jessica, Matthew, Eve, Emily, Melodie and Carolyn. Also nine great grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of Marion Durward of Port Perry, Joan Durward of Picton and Maurice Edgerton of Blackstock. Predeceased by one son Thom, two brothers James and Ronald, one sister Evelyn, one grandson Canio and one great grandson Alexander. Sister of Jean Campbell. Grandmother of Monika, Erik, Adrian, Jacquelyn, Brendan, Elyse, Nicole, Andrea, Christopher, Caleb, Matthew, Peter, Liza, Kim, Wendy, Stephanie, Andrew and great-grandchildren Ravenna, Nick, Edie, Cody and Autumn. EDWARDS, Rupert Andress
Peacefully, at Sunnycrest Retirement Villa, Whitby, on Thursday, September 13. 2001, in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Flossie Evelyn (nee Cornish) for 67 years. Father of Ken and his wife Gerri, and Doug and his wife Margaret, all of Oshawa. Also survived by granddaughter Susan McGuire (Dan) and grandssons Chris (Lisa), Gary (Gail) and Steve (Maureen), and seven great-grandchildren. Son of the late John and Jane Edwards, Rupert was born at Algonquin, Ontario, on July 31, 1905, and educated in Prescott and Ottawa. After residing in New York City for a number of years, he returned to Canada in 1929, where he joined General Motors of Canada Ltd. in Oshawa. He retired in 1967 after 38 years in various financial departments. A long time member of Simcoe Street United Church, Rupert served on the Board of Trustees for many years. Family and friends will be received at the McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 1152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Sunday from 7- 9p.m. and on Monday, September 17, 2001 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. in our chapel. Cremation with Interment at Oshawa Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Simcoe Street United Church woutd be appreciated.

JENKINS, Gwendolyn Maud
(Life member of the Order of the Eastern Star). Peacefully entered into rest at Fairview Lodge, Whitby on Thursday September 13, 2001 in her 91st year. Gwen, beloved wife of the late Sid. Lov­ing mother of Deirdre and her husband Ed­ward Hope of Cobourg, Ontario. Dear grand­mother of Leanne and her husband Mike Godfrey, Tim Hope, Sandra Hilborn, Keith Hil­born, and by her great-grandchildren Christo­pher and Melissa Godfrey, and Brian Wil­loughby. The family will receive friends at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby (905-668-3410) from 10:30 to 11 am Monday. Service in the Chap­el on Monday September 17, 2001 at 11am. SALLAI, Delores Mary
(January 17, 1943). Loving wife, mother and grandmother entered into rest September 13, 2001. Sadly missed by her loving husband Les, children Leslie, Attila & Tara, son-in-law John and granddaughter Skylyne. Memorial service is scheduled for Monday, September 17, 2001, however time has yet to be announced. Delores will be resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa.

BURTT, Thelma Mae
At the Ajax-Pickering Hospital on Wednesday September 12, 2001 in her 93rd year. Thelma beloved wife of the late Harold Burtt. Loving mother of Juanita and her husband William Harris. Dear grand-mother of Maureen and her husband Howard Todd, Peter Harris and his wife Deborah, Ellen and her husband David Peppiatt, and great grandmother of Stephenie, Ellicea, Sarah, Rachel, Benjamin, and Hannah. Mrs. Bunt will be resting at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas St. East., Whitby 2-4 pm Friday, Service in the Chapel Friday 4 pm followed by cremation. Private Interment at Nestleton Cemetery at a later date.

CAMPBELL, Douglas Haig
Following a brief illness, on Wednesday September 12, 2001, at the Centenary Health Centre, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Lilian C.P. Campbell. Dear brother of Ettie and Lottie both of Scotland. Mr. Campbell served with the R.A.F, in the Medical Field for 6 1/2 years. Douglas was a member of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society and an outstanding Scottish Tenor who sang in all Scottish circles. For 11 years he hosted “Highland Memory” a Scottish Radio Show in Oshawa on CKQS. Visitation will be held at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East, Agincourt (east of Kennedy Rd.), on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. Funeral service to follow in the chapel at 3 p.m. Cremation. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

DEVITT, Joseph Lloyd

Bill, loving husband for 54 years of Pauline (nee Deline) of Newcastle. Dear father of Candace (Candy) and the late William Kim. Father-in-law of Dae Marie Storks. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Amanda, Justin, and Ashleigh; his brother A.W. Peterman and his wife Vi of Peterborough; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Grace and Russell Storks. Also missed by his best friend Shamire. MADDOCKS, Margaret Roberta
b. February 3, 1916 in Toronto, d. peacefully at home in Whitby September 9, 2001, age 85 years. Predeceased by husband Donald of Belleville, and brothers Bart and Kit Carson. Margaret lived a very active volunteer life in Belleville until her death became precarious several years ago. Her daughter, Dorothy, cared lovingly for her in her last two years. She will be missed by children Dorothy Pierce of Whitby (and her children David, Carolyn, Jeffrey and Steven), and Roy (Elizabeth, nee Coil, Anne, Emily and Julia Maddocks) of Ottawa. A MemoriaI Service was held at St. Mark’s united Church in Whitby on Tuesday September 11. A service of thanksgiving for Margaret’s life will be held soon at Bridge Street United Church, 60 Bridge Street East at Church, in Belleville. She would have been a proud and loving grand- mother to her grandson soon to arrive. Predeceased by her mother Judith.
