With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our husband and father in his 69th year at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa, on Monday October 22, 2001. Beloved husband to Yvonne (Bonnie) for 48 years. Loving father of Doug and his wife Kathleen, Brian and Don (Jr.). Devoted son of the late Allan Lavis and the late Audrey (nee Trull) of Oshawa. Brother of Mary Reid (nee Lavis) and Alf of Whitby and the late Donald Lavis of Oshawa. Loving grandfather to James and Paul Lavis and Kayla Lemon-Lavis of Oshawa. Born in Oshawa, Doug served overseas in the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor for the Canada Post Office for 35 years from where he retired. He coached girls baseball for many years in Oshawa. He will be sadly missed by his family, many relatives and friends that knew him. A private family service will be held at MOUNT LAWN Cemetery in Whitby. Friends that would like to make donations may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or to the Palliative Care at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa.
