Peacefully, at Hillsdale Manor, on Sunday, October 14, 2001, Vera, (nee Hannah) in her 97th year. Dearly beloved and devoted wife of Harold for 71 years. Loving mother of Loretta Laing and Murray and his wife Ruth of Berrien Springs, Michigan. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Cathy Menard, Doug and his wifeLinda Laing, Ronald and his wife Rebecca Lofthouse, Larry and his wife Tricia Lofthouse, David Lofthouse and great-grandchildren Amy, Leah, Hayley, Lauren, Dara and David. Predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters in New Brunswick. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa, Ontario (905-433-5558) on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. A service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, October 18, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Interment MOUNT LAWN Cemetery, Whitby. McDowall-Senko, Jill Ruth
Former Whitby employee. With great sorrow, Lauretta I. McDowall announces on October 14, 2001 the passing of her only child Jill. Jill fought a valiant battle against cancer for 4 years. Jill was born and raised in the Beaches area of Toronto. She moved to Whitby in 1990 due to her marriage to Greg. She spent the last months of her life with her Mom and two super puppies, Cricket and Ashley at Rice Lake, her childhood vacation area, where she learned and taught water skiing. She was 41. Jill had just finished 6 months of chemo. Her Mom would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital, especially the nurses on 18B, for all their care and dedication during this difficult time. Also all the VON, St. Elizabeth and Access Care Workers for all their T.L.C. during her final months. Donations to Princess Margaret Hospital would be appreciated. Thank-you all so much Lauretta I. McDowall & Family.

Peacefully, on Saturday, October 13, 2001, at the Versa Care Centre, Uxbridge, in her 80th year. Jean, beloved wife of the late John Robert Groom and loving step-mother-in-law of Beatrice Groom. Dear mother of Elizabeth and her husband Ralph Schaerf and grandmother of Eric. Survived by her sisters Mary Gow, Grace Anderson, brother Alistar Littlejohn and brother-in-law David Campbell. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. LESLIE, Mary “Jean”
At Lakeridgc Health-Oshawa on Saturday, October 13th, 2001. Cherished wife of Gerald. Beloved mother of Sheila and Karen and her husband Patrick. Very special grandmother of Mariah and Kathleen. Predeceased by brother Donald. Kind and gentle, Jean will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Beloved daughter of Mary and the late Mike Shisko. Dear sister of Lydia and her husband Dave Westlake, Danny Shisko and his wife Florence, Reta and her husband Tom Doyle, and Michael Shisko (deceased) and his wife Linda. NORMAN, Bea
Peacefully passed away, at the Sunnycrest Nursing Home, on October 13, 2001. Loving wife of Howard. Beloved mother of Carolyn (Jim Miller) and Ronald Cromwell (Georgie). Loved step-mother to Nancy (Peter Ryan) and also predeceased by her step-son Denis Norman. Cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and also eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2001. Passed away peacefully Saturday, October 13, 2001, in her 87th year at Thornton View Long Term Care in Oshawa, Ontario. Bertha will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and many family and friends throughout Canada and the United States. Loving daughter of the late Crozier and Mary Sullivan. Loved father of Sara and her husband Jamie Watson of Woodville, and Martyn Wanamaker of Whitby. Loving grandfather of Ryley Watson. Beloved son of Gertrude and the late Bert Wanamaker of Seagrave. Dear brother of Ron Wanamaker and his wife Leona of Oshawa and Neil Wanamaker and his wife Donna of Seagrave. Peacefully surrounded by her family, on October 12, 2001 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Peterborough. Born in Marmora on February 8, 1913. Treasured wife of Thomas Dickson for seventy years. Loving mother of Roger (Yvonne) of Eganville, Barbara (Richard) Howe of Newcastle, Jim (Margaret) of Orillia and Karen (Fred) Cashin of Orono. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Ada Potts of Marmora, daughter Deborah, sisters Mary and Gertrude, Brothers Gerry and Clayton. Myrtle will be lovingly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and three greatgreat grandchildren. The family received friends at the Kaye Funeral Home, 539 George Street, Peterborough. Funeral service was held in the Kaye Chapel on Tuesday at 1 P.M. Interment Stone Church Cemetery, Beaverton. FRAS, George Leon
(Member of St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Chuirch and Choir, involved extensively in the Polish community). (George was born in Siberia to the late Joseph Eras and his late wife Helena Korzeniewicz, where he survived, until moving to Poland. He later emigrated to Canada. Passed away peacefully during prayer after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, October 12, 2001 in his 59th year, at Peterborough Regional Health Care Centre. Loving husband of Christine for 35 years. Proud father of Teresa Fras-Wachon and her Husband Andy Of Whitby, and Barbara Fras and her husband Andrew Martin of Sydney, Australia. Cherished Dziadziu of Christopher and Alicia. Dear brother of Joseph Jr. Fras and his wife Irena of Bowmanville, Stella Haight and her husband Bill of Windsor, and Anna Creighton and her husband Douglas of Courtice. REDDING, Jeffrey Adams
Jeff passed away peacefully at the Centenary Hospital, on Friday, October 12, 2001, at the age of 41. Loving husband of Rose and adoring father of Matthew and Jennifer. Jeff will be deeply missed by his parents, family and friends. He worked in the restaurant business in the G.T.A. for more than 20 years. He was an ardent baseball fan and enthusiastic coach of the Pickering Red Sox. CARTER, James Edwards Ill
Died on Wednesday, October 10th at 75 years young, af­ter a lengthy struggle against cancer. He is survived by his mother Addie Carter and his five children Sean, Natasha, Kim, James, Darryl and many nieces, nephews and friends, as well, his many surrogate children who knew him as ‘Pops’. We hope that he finds peace in death and knows always how much he is loved. The pain that is left with his death is almost more than can be beared.
