His many other activities included; doorman and usher at the Civic Auditorium, board member of Information Oshawa, the Mayor's Task Force for the Disabled, Oshawa Folk Arts Council and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43. Beloved son of the late Bill and Nan Kirkbride, husband of Jeanette (Mackie, Kossatz) for the past eighteen years. Former husband of Dorothy. Father of Janet (Les) Bergsma, Robert (Sandy) and Kevin (Christine) Kirkbride, step-father of Scott (Deb) Kossatz, Andrea (Jeff) Young and Shane Kossatz. Former father-in-law of Donna Drake and Paula Kossatz.
