WILSON-BARRY, Valerie -

We rejoice that Val is now walking in paradise with her Lord and Saviour after a brave and long fight with cancer. Born March 13, 1953, beloved daughter of Dudley and Erla Wilson of Whitby. Valerie was a loving and devoted mother to her children Elizabeth and Samuel, and a life-long member of Whitby Baptist Church. She graced this world wit her gift of music and a passion to advocate for those with physical and mental disabilities around her. Valerie's life and love for others has touched everyone around her and allowed her to leave this world a better place. She will be dearly missed by her family - Elizabeth, Samuel and Lynn Barry, Dudley and Erla Wilson, Dan and Donna Wilson, Faye, Randy, Jenna and Christian Fretz, and Ross and Kathy Wilson - and many, many friends. A time for visitation will be held at Whitby Baptist Church, 411 Gilbert St. E., Whitby, Ontario (located beside Trafalgar Castle School) on Tuesday, April 30th from 7-9 p.m. A special service to celebrate Val's life will be held on Wednesday, May 1st at 1 p.m. at Whitby Baptist Church. Donations in Valerie's memory can be made to the Ajax chapter of the Ontario Association for Community Living - Family Support Fund or the Palliative Unit at Lakeridge Health Centre, Oshawa. Special thanks to VON and the Oshawa Palliative Care Team for all their care and support. They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength.

In London, England on Friday April 26, 2002. Neil Bell, of Newcastle, in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Ann. Loving father of Neil and his wife Jennifer, Marion and her husband Dave, Ian and his wife Suzanne. Loved by Sandi. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Joshua, Tyler and K'Leigh, Zachary and Aidan, Angelica and Sarah. Dear brother of Claire Wright and her husband Mort of Hamilton. Predeceased by his brother Tom. Brother-in-law of Muriel. After a lengthy illness at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Friday April 26, 2002 in his 65th year. Pat, beloved husband of Deanna. Dear son of Anna and Pat Neal Sr. Fondly remembered by his sister Peggy and her husband Dave Arges, and their children Chris and Terry. Pat Jr. was a longtime member of Ducks Unlimited, Port Perry Chapter. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby. Cremation will take place followed by burial at St. John's Port Whitby Cemetery. In memoriam, donations may be made to the Cancer Society.

Predeceased by Leonard, Gregory, Isaiah, Bernadette, Veronica, Beatrice and Gerald. PHOENIX, Walter Lee, P. Eng -

The family of Walter announces with sorrow his death on April 25, 2002 in his 89th year. He was the only son of the late William and Emma of Greenbank. Beloved husband of Ruby Lee for 60 years. Devoted father of Carol and Catherine. A man of diverse, unique talents and enthusiasms was born in the family home in Greenbank on January 26, 1914. He was educated in Greenbank, Port Perry, attended Toronto Normal School and then the University of Toronto where he graduated from electrical engineering in 1942, remaining on the faculty for several years until joining Bell Canada. After retiring from Bell Canada in 1972 he was fortunate to be able to travel to many parts of the world, an avid reader, historian and camper with many winters spent in Mexico. Summers found him in Greenbank attending his garden andbees. If desired, donations to Bethel Cemetery Board will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Private burial in Greenbank has already taken place.

Dear mother of Sally Martens and her husband John of Wolfville, NS, and Bob Armstrong and his wife Lynda of Whitby, ON. Loved grandmother of Sarah, Georgia and Laura Martens, Todd Armstrong and his wife Dianne, Stephanie Armstrong, Debbie Armstrong and her husband Steve Cattell, Jeff O'Brien and his wife Tammy, Jodi O'Brien and her husband Adam Dobko, and great-grandmother of Emmi and Mackie Armstrong, and Katelyn and Brennen O'Brien. Dear aunt of Joyce, Joan and Jackie. Predeceased by her sister Elda Watson and her brothers Redvers and Harvey Ross. Sylva was born in Peterborough, May 13, 1904. She moved to Oshawa in 1934 and immediately became active in the community, including the YWCA, St. Andrew's United Church, Lifetime Member of the McLaughlin Art Gallery and Lifetime Honorary President of the Oshawa General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Sylva will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with funeral service at Kingsview United Church, 505 Adelaide Ave. E., Oshawa on Monday, April 29, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Oshawa Union Cemetery.
