Suddenly at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Tuesday June 18, 2002. Jozef Jablonski in his 78th year, beloved husband of the late Helen Jablonski. Lovingfather of Mike Jablonski and Ina Zaporozan and her husband Jamie. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jesse, Ina and Melanie. Jozef will be sadly missed by his brother in law Walter and his wife Zena Korobkaand their children, Andrew and Philip. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home with funeral service in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church on Saturday June 22, 2002 and 11 a.m. Interment Thornton Cemetery. Panachyda will be held at the funeral home Friday at 7 p.m. Memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

McCONNEY, Allan Edward, B. Sc., M.Ed. -

(1921 - 2002), Suddenly, June 18, 2002, at Sunnybrook Hospital. Beloved husband and best friend of Lois (Davis); loved father of Denise McConney of Saskatoon; Wendy McConney-Goode (Robert) and Michele McConney of Banff. Devoted grandfather of David and Austin McConney-Goode and Wynonah McConney. Brother of Mary Harvey (John) of Oakville; Robert McConney (Mary) of Barrie; Sheila Graystone (deceased) and brother-in-law Alan Graystone of Newport News Va; and brother-in-law to Margaret and Mel Green of Toronto. Allan was born in Toronto and educated at John Ross Robertson Elementary, Lawrence Park Collegiate, and Jarvis Collegiate. He graduated from Ontario Agricultural College at Guelph in 1949 following his service in the RCNVR from 1940-1945. During his service on the JIMCS Skeena, he was mentioned in dispatches for his role in the sinking of an enemy submarine. He also served on the HCMS Wetaskewin in the Battle of the Atlantic; on the HMCS Sioux off Normandy on D Day and with convoys to Russia untilthe end of the war. He taught sciences at Seaforth D.H.S. and Uxbridge S.S. In retirement, he was an enthusiastic Volunteer with the Uxbridge Arena Board, the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Board and Foundation, and the Cancer Society. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Toronto and Oshawa Naval Clubs; the Royal Canadian Military Institute; the Royal Commonwealth Society; the Monarchist League; and a Charter member of Skyloft Ski Club. He had been an avid skier all his life, and even met Lois on a ski trip to Sun Valley, Idaho. Funeral Services to be held on Sunday, June 23rd, 2002 at 2:30 p.m., St. Paul's Anglican Church, 65 Toronto Street S., Uxbridge. Visitation at the church will begin at 1:00 p.m. and reception after the service. Should family or friends desire, donations in Allan's memory to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital or a charity of choice, would be appreciated.Arrangements entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge, 23 Main Street South.

McKINNON, Helen -

passed away peacefully, on the afternoon of Monday, June 17, 2002, at Princess Margaret Hospital, at the age of 63, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones. She will always be remembered by family and friends for her strength and endurance, affection and warm personality, and her encouragement and great love. She demonstrated strong family values which are cherished by her three surviving daughters, Joann, Debbie and Sharon. Adored Poppa of granddaughter Claire Julia Taylor for too short a time. Beloved son of the late Walter and Sely Schaffeler (Drummondville, PQ), and loved son-in-law of the late Richard Allan and Margaret Doherty (Bowmanville). Dear brother of Sely and her husband Charlie Trail (Stoney Creek), and Susan Schaffeler (Switzerland). Greatly loved brother-in-law to Sheila and Jacques Carriere (Ottawa), John and the late Nancy Taylor (Sutton), Anne and the late Peter Ross (Thunder Bay), Allan Doherty (Whitehorse), Margaret Doherty and Ian Gemmill (Kingston), Chris and Pam Doherty (St. Albert). Much loved uncle and great-uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Montreal, Quebec, graduated BComm McGill University 1960. Thirty year employee of Avery Dennison Mfg., Montreal and Bowmanville. Past Treasurer, Memorial Hospital Bowmanville, volunteer Canadian Red Cross and Durham Distress Centre. Peter was happiest when he was with family, and he was dearly loved and will be missed more than words can express. Visitation will take place at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N., Bowmanville, ON, Thursday 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday 11 a.m. at ST.
