Peacefully at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on Monday, July 15th, 2002. Beloved wife of Harold for 55 years. Loving mother of Rene (Jan), Gerry (Susan), Ted (Connie), Rick (Dawna) and Oma to eleven grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her niece Dale Singer and by many family members in Holland and Sweden. Much appreciated for her lifetime volunteer service to church and community. At Sini’s request there will be a Private Family Service. Peacefully, on Monday July 15, 2002 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 66. Florence daughter of Grace Filliar of Nova Scotia and the late Herbert Filliar. Beloved wife of Edwin MacDonald. Loving mother of Paul and his wife Donna, Joanna and her husband Mike Thornton, Lloyd and his wife Brenda, Cathy and her husband Don Knowles, Peter, and Sarah and her husband Greg Legere. Loved grandmother of Scott, Sean, Ian, Chad, Chris, Melanie, Breanna, Dylan, Kayla and Hailey. Dear sister of David, Herb and Bill Filliar. MARKLAND (Hewes), Jessica Mary –

At Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, on Monday, July 15, 2002, in her 65th year, after a drowning accident at her summer camp near Lake Simcoe. Beloved wife of the late Peter Hewes of Newcastle, formerly of Scarborough. Daughter of Arthur Walton of England. Dear sister of Christopher Walton of Australia and Sarah Logan of England. Jessica will be sadly missed by her close friends and many acquaintances. She was an ardent activist for many environmental causes, and she will be remembered for her hard work, dedication, and ability to hit the nail on the head. Respecting her wishes, cremation will take place with no funeral. Those wishing to celebrate Jessica’s life are invited to a pot-luck gathering at 84 Beaver St. N., Newcastle, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Lawrence was a member of A.A. for 41 years, a member of the Moose Lodge, Oshawa, an active member of the Fiddle Club, a veteran of W.W. II with the Glengarry Regiment overseas and was retired from G.M.C. with 39 years of service. Loving mother of Doris and her husband Rodger MacKinnon, and the late Eleanor Whitfield.
