Scott of Courtice and Douglas J. Scott, Donna and Jeffery Rosamond of Oshawa. Dear sister of Tom and Muriel Ventress of Beaverton, Lorne Ventress of Haliburton, Chris and Pauline Ventress of Haliburton. A special thank you to Dr. H. Chiu and the Oncology Department of Lakeridge Health Oshawa. STRICKLAND, Leonard Arthur -

Surrounded by his loving family, Leonard Arthur Strickland passed away peacefully, on July 12th, 2002, at age 80. Leonard is survived by his wife Marcia of Whitby, son Douglas (Barbara) of Maryland, sister Kitty Jenkinson of England, brother Frank (Olive) Strickland of Toronto, Marcia’s 4 children and 5 grandchildren and extended family, and many friends. Leonard was Predeceased by his first wife Doreen in 1982. A Service celebrating Leonard’s life was held July 15th in Oshawa. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will help others, and can be made through OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE (905-721 -1234). John beloved son of Dorothy and the late Normand McIntosh. Fondly remernbered by his cousins. Friends will be received at the W.C. SANDERSON, Edythe Jean -

Peacefully on Thursday July 11, 2002 at Hillsdale Manor, Oshawa, in her 97th year. Edythe, beloved wife of the late David Stuart Sanderson. Dear mother of her only child Katherine Kim and her husband Harvey Armitage. Edythe was the cherished grandmother of Shane of Grande Cache, Alberta; Guy and his wife Mary Brereton of Hudson’s Hope, B.C., Katherine Jean of Calgary, Alberta, Christo­pher and his wife Janet of Powassan, Ontario, and great grandmother to their daughter Leslie. Edythe is predeceased by five older brothers, Russell, James, Jack, Burns, and Oliver. Beloved aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. At Hazel’s request, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at CHURCH OF ST. GREGORY THE GREAT, 194 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa on Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Mass will also be held at ST. John is survived by his wife Shirley of 47 years, 3 daughters Carmen Hill (George), Debbie Ewing (Rick), Wendy Doran (Ron) and one son Mark (Mary). Proud grampa of 10 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins and father-in-law of Mark Hood of Oakwood, and fondly remembered by all his coffee buddies. Predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Carmen DeGiorgio of Malta. Mr. DeGiorgio was resting at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas St. East, Whitby Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Service in the Chapel Friday July 12, 2002 at 11 am followed by cremation. Donations to the Charity of choice.

In his 81st year. At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Tuesday July 9th, 2002. Beloved husband & best friend of Nancy Lewis for the past 26 years. Dear step-father of Paul & his wife Cathi, Randy & his wife Lucie, Christopher, Julia & her partner Mike, Michelle & her husband Ian. He will be sadly missed by all his grandchildren. RICHARD, Edward Joseph -

(City of Toronto employee and President of Emergency Plus). Sadly, on July 9, 2002, following a lone and courageous battle with cancer. An extremely loving, caring, special young man, passed away at the age of 40. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his loving wife Karen and 2 wonderful children Trevor and Danielle. Also survived by his step-father Robert Lane and step-mother Doris of Edmonton; his 4 brothers Edward, Norman, John and Robert; his 3 sisters Anne, Marie and Roberta; his in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Sam Szlagowski; and numerous relatives and friends. Cherished Dad of Paula Croft and her husband Jason of Colborne. Papa of his much-loved granddaughter Vanessa. Dear brother of Alvin Wilson, Bill, Jack, and Archie (Mick) Rupert, and predeceased by several other brothers. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights) on Saturday, July 20, at 11:00 a.m., and friends may call for two hours prior to the service.
