(Honorary lifetime member of Golden Jubilee Chapter I.O.D.E., Former member of UCW at St. Andrew’s United Church, Oshawa and Volunteer for Meals on Wheels). Peacefully at Lakeridge Health orporation-Bowmanville on Wednesday, August 28, 2002. Betty (nee Emmett), in her 82nd year. Dearly loved and devoted wife of Don for 59 years. Loving mother of Libbie Burns of Columbus, Ontario; Jeannie and her husband Bill Buckner of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Jeffrey and his wife Karen Burns of Whitby. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Lisa, Jaimie, Dean, Marnie, Alana, Nathan, Matthew and Collin. Sister of Patricia Lucas and Predeceased by Mary Jean Hood. Relatives and friends will be received at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King Street East, Oshawa, (905-433-5558) on Saturday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. At Betty’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations to Durham Region Lung Association or the Oshawa General Hospital Foundation, New Durham Region Cancer Centre would be appreciated.

EASTON, Russell G. -

(Retired Conductor C.N.R.). passed away in his 83rd year, on Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife Shirley, devoted son David and his wife Evelyn. Cherished Papa of Allison, Angela, David and great-granddaughter Meghan. Also survived are 2 sisters Mrs. Edith Rupert of Welland and Mrs. Wanda Whent of Hornespayne, as well as many nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 400 Monarch Ave., Ajax, on Saturday, September 7 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. If so desired, donations to the Holy Trinity Building Fund or the Ajax-Pickering Hospital Foundation may be made in Russell's memory. Arrangements entrusted to the Accettone Funeral Home, 384 Finley Ave. Ajax.

FLETCHER, Helen V. Glide -

Age 78 years of Caesarea. On Wednesday August 28th, 2002 in Clearwater, Florida. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth. Dear mother of Barry & his wife Sheri of Palm Harbor, Florida. Sadly missed by grandchildren Mandy Russo and Brian Fletcher. Sister of Eileen Weatherlilt of Caesarea; Carol Burton & Mary Esther of Florida. Helen was born in Oshawa and was a homemaker. A Graveside service was held on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at 11am at Bowmanville Cemetery. Donations may be made to a scholarship in memory of Helen through Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home Bowmanville.

Peacefully, at the Lakeridge Health Centre, Port Perry, on Wednesday August 28, 2002, in her 76th year. Doris Kennedy (nee Willis). Beloved wife of Allan. Loving mother of David and his wife Linda, Harold and his wife Janet, Art and his wife Sue, Tom and his wife Mary, Al and his wife Isy, Nancy and her husband Henry Wurz, Debbie and her husband Steve Vandenburg, and John and his wife Patti. Loving Nana of 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Survived by her 3 sisters Joan, Julia and Marina. Doris will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday. Funeral Service at Pickering Village United Church (300 Church St. N., Pickering Village, Ajax) on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Interment - Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens. Beloved nephew of Linda and John, Debbie and George, Judy and Dave, Dean and Lisa, Denise and Larry and Vincent. At Lakeridge Health, Bowmanville on Monday August 26, 2002. Michael Capik in his 91st year, beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Roman). Loving father of Mary Leanne Annaert and her husband Roger. Predeceased by his brother John in Czechoslovakia and his sister Mary Putzi of Indiana, USA. Survived by his two nephews in Velky Ruskov. Michael immigrated from Czechoslovakia in April of 1938 and settled on a farm in Hampton. He moved to Oshawa three years later and worked at Fittings until his retirement in 1977. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Georges’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Thursday August 29, 2002 at 10 a.m. Interment St. Wolodyrnyr and St. Olha Cemetery. OLDHAM, Lilly Borges -

August 28, 1953 - August 26, 2002. After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lilly at Stanton Territorial Hospital, Yellowknife, NWT., with her devoted husband by her side. Beloved wife of Stuart Oldham; loving daughter of use Borges (of Newrnarket); predeceased by her father Hermann Borges; cherished sister of Karen Saamen (Hans); dear daughter-in-law of Mable and Ches Oldham (of Uxbridge); sister-in-law of Richard Oldham (Geraldine ) and Brad Oldham (Pam); special aunt of Brian, Marie; Krista, Karl, Kyle; Jason, Tyler and Samantha. Despite many struggles with her health Lilly lived life to the fullest and traveled the world. She had an Impressive career in education with Yellowkrtlfe District School Board as a teacher, Principal and Supervisor of Second Languages. She held executive positions, including President, of the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers. A memorial Sevive wiIl be held at Trinity United Church, 20 First Avenue, Uxbridge; Ontario, on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Stanton Territorial Hospital, Yellowknife, N.W.T. would be appreciated by the family.

Quietly at Lakeridge Health Corp Oshawa on Monday August 26th, 2002. Betty (nee Hare) beloved wife of the late William Roberts. Loving mother of Marlene Heindl and her husband Michael of Agincourt, Beth Emes and her husband Gene of Uxbridge, Judy Reid and her husband Art of Campbellford, and Bob Roberts and his wife Lorrie of Oshawa. Predeceased by her sisters and brothers. Grandmother of Carl, and Katie Heindl, Stephen and Kenneth Ernes, Christopher Caprio, Sean and Andrew Roberts, David Reid, and Jeremy Howell, Ashleigh and Kimberley Roberts, Bobbijo Trent, and Tammy Hartin. Betty will be fondly remembered by all of her friends and family.

passed away on August 26th at Sunnycrest Nursing home, in Whitby. She was the beloved daughter of the late Alice and Murray McGregor Smith,former wife of the late Dennis T. Patrick Sears, mother of Michael MacGregor Sears (wife Louise), Patrick Dennis Sears (wife Mae) and Theresa Bridget Sears (Husband, David Switzer). She will be missed by many including her longtime friends Gladys Wruth, Rowena Allison, her sister-in-law Kathleen Schnaider, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and her fine friends and the wonderful caregivers at Sunnycrest. The family will welcome any donations to the Life Enrichment Programs at Sunnycrest. Arrangements entrusted to W.C. Town Funeral Chapel.

WILLIAMS, James (Big James 1%er) -

Suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 42, on Monday, August 26, 2002, at his home in Newcastle with his loving wife Mimi at his side. Incredible and cherished husband of Mimi Williams. Amazing Dad of Jamie, Brett, Dunae, and baby Brooke-Lynn. Youngest of six children of Al and Jean Williams of Trenton. Big James 1%er was a respected member of Outlaws Canada – he’s left us now to start a new chapter. Friends were received on Thursday evening at the Clubhouse in Ajax, and on Friday afternoon and evening at NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 31, at ST. GEORGE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, Newcastle, followed by Interment at Bond Head Cemetery. A trust fund is being established for James’ four children and donations may be made through Newcastle Funeral Home, 905-987-3964.
