STUART, Doreen Joan (nee Kearney) -

passed away peacefully on January 24, 2003 following a courageous battle with Cancer. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 48 years Doug, her two daughters, Leslie and Susan, her son Craig, daughter-in-law Jacqui and son-in-law Steve. Her grand children, Adam, Alexandra, Kate and Jack will miss their Nana s cuddles, reading lessons and bread making. Born in Oshawa, Ontario on August 5th 19(only she knew), to Alan and Erica Kearney, she is being mourned by her sisters Pat (Jim McNally), Betty (Bud Dawson), brothers, Bruce (Pat), Eric (Marge), and Herb (Joyce) who predeceased her. Doreen s life was filled with family, volunteering, work, books, art, music, a passion for political discussions and always lots of laughter. Her energy and humour could transform all activities including chemotherapy into a social event. Special thanks to Dr Paul Klimo for his exemplary care of Doreen over so many years and to all the chemo nurses who knew mom was going to show up early for her appointments. If friends so desire, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation 231 East 15th St, North Vancouver, BC, V7L 2L7 and marked for the Chemotherapy unit. While all of us will miss her terribly, we know that she is already shopping at Heaven s Holt Renfrew and organizing bridge and book clubs. A memorial service will held at the Boal Chapel 1505 Lillooet Rd. North Vancouver on February 3, 2003 at 2pm.

ALSTON, Joan -

After a courageous battle with cancer, Joan passed away at the Scarborough General Hospital, surrounded by her family on January 23, 2003, at the age of 71. Beloved wife of 47 years to Howard. Treasured Mom of Diane and her husband Dave McLaughlin (of Brooklin), and Grant. Much loved ''Grandma Joan'' of Mitchell and Carley. Forever loved, forever missed by her family and friends. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday. The service will be held in the chapel on Sunday, January 26, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. A reception to follow at the Funeral Home.

BOWMAN, John Jack -

Peacefully at home on Thursday, January 23rd, 2003. John, in his 74th year. redeceased by his wife Phyllis May. Loving father of Sandra and her husband John, Annette and her husband Paul and Sheila and her husband Ray. Loving Grandfather of Cailin, Sara, Matthew, Jason, Nicole, Melanie, Elizabeth and Jim. Dear brother of Evelyn Morrow, Noreen Mclnnis and the late Mabel Johnson. As Jack wished, there will be no Funeral Service. Peacefully at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on Thursday, January 23rd, 2003 in his 75th year. Beloved husband of Shirley. Loving father of Cathy and her husband Ross Trewin and son Doug. Cherished Grandfather of Chris, Scott and Jen. Dear brother of three sisters and five brothers and predeceased by one sister. Special brother-in-law to JoAnne and her husband Alan Stubbs and family and Lynne and her husband Peter Kemp and family. Frank will be sadly missed by his fellow truckers and special thanks to Ross Mackie of Mackie Transport for his friendship. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glenys; a loving wife, devoted mother, sister, babcia, aunt and good friend. Glenys passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on January 23rd, 2003, in her 69th year. Glenys was the beloved wife of Stan Masternak: mother of Kelly and her husband Jim Dunlop; sister of Ron and his wife Irene, Judy and her husband Bob Gow, Jim and his wife Yolanda; Babcia of Jason and his wife Rachel; Great Babcia of Tyler Masternak; loving aunt of Kern and her husband Craig Couch, Brent Gow and his wife Ruth, Kevin, Krystyna and Jamie Gorycki; great aunt to Darren and Trevor Couch. Glenys was a long time employee and caregiver at Hillsdale Manor in Oshawa. At her request there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, at the Church of Saint Gregory The Great (194 Simcoe St. N.), on Saturday, January 25th, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Thornton Cemetery. (World War II Veteran 1940-1945, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, 1st Battalion, 3rd Division.; Retired Employee of General Motors, Canada). At Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on Thursday, January 23rd, 2003 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Gustava (nee Mallory) of 56 years. Dear father of Connie and her husband Robert Eade and son Gord and his wife Sue. Loving Grandfather of Joshua and Christopher Eade; Emily and Melissa Mitton. Sadly missed brother of Marie and her husband William Dunster and predeceased by brother Arthur and sisters Edna, Cecielia and Marjorie. Devoted and loving mother of Ronald Alan Phillips of Toronto and Ted and his wife June Phillips. Dear grandmother of Glenn and Linda and her husband Aldo Rocca and dear 'GG' to her great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Edith and Edward Noakes and her brother Reginald Noakes. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME Ltd., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433 5558) on Friday from 7-9 p.m. A service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mount Lawn Cemetery, Whitby. Dear grandmother of Kim (Gary) Belfry; Juaneta (Gary) Henderson; Jim (Mary-Ellen) Goode; Heidi (Steve) Platt; Kevin (Gillian) Goode; Bill (Shelley) Ransberry; Patty (Neil) Pringle and Sally (Rory). Cherished great-grandmother of 17. Neta was a volunteer for the VON and will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. At Extendicare Guildwood, Scarborough, on Thursday, January 23rd, 2003. In her 98th year. Ethel Seeley, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Seeley. Sister of Eileen Boyer, Elva Leach, Lorraine Wilson, Wallace Seeley, and predeceased by Mirian Campbell, Tom Seeley, Doris Black and Lloyd Seeley. Godmother of Donna Seeley and aunt to many. Resting at the Low & Low Funeral Home on Sunday, January 26th, 2003 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, January 27th, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. Spring Interment, Uxbridge Cemetery. VOLLING, Joachim (Joe) -

Suddenly at home on Thursday, January 23, 2003, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 58. Beloved husband of Donna (nee Churchill) and loving father of Derek (Wendy), Jason, and Cheryl. Proud Grandpa of Quinton and Jackson. Dear son of Fritz (predeceased) and Christa and brother of Christian, Jurgen (Florence), and Peter. Resting at the Morris Funeral Home for visitation Sunday, 2-4 p.m. and Service in the Chapel Monday, at 1 p.m. Cremation. BROWN, Joan Sylvia (nee Rogers) -

In her 69th year, passed away peacefully and with dignity, on Wednesday, January 22, 2003, with family by her side, at Lakeridge Bowmanville Hospital. Loving wife of Murray. Proud mother of Lisa, Elaine and her husband Craig, and Ross. Loving mother of Bucky the beagle. Loving grandmother of Matthew, Laura and Ashley. True friend to all who knew her including her lifelong friends and all of the animals. Past director of the Oshawa Humane Society and volunteer to Cancer Society and many worthwhile animal charities. Family wishes to thank Dr. Theo Corpus and all of the kind nurses and staff of the 2 East Unit of Bowmanville Lakeridge Hospital for their kindness and compassion. Grandmother of Tammy, Michael, Melissa and Danielle. Predeccased by her brothers John, Cecil (Nip) and Charles. A private family service will be held at a later date. DUNFIELD, JOSEPH -

Suddenly at home on January 22, 2003 in his 76th year. In 1951 Joseph Dunfield immigrated to Canada with his brother Martin. Three years later, in 1954, Annie joined him here in Canada; and together for 49 years they were blessed with good health, four thankful children, but above all, love was shared by all. To all his friends, dear Joe was the fixer-upper. We are much richer for having had him in our lives. A life well lived! Husband of Annie (nee Van Bree), father of Henry and Lynda Dunfield (Calgary), Ed and Kathy Dunfield (Salmon Arm), Debbie and Ray Ewart (Vancouver) and Jim and Tracey Dunfield (Kingston) along with twelve grandchildren. Survived by his brother Martin and wife Beverly of Oshawa; brothers Piet, Harry and sisters Drieka and Anna, predeceased by Jans (all of Holland). Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with visitation from 2- 4 pm and 7- 9pm Saturday, January 25. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Sunday January 26, at 2 pm. Cremation to follow service. Memorial donations to the Charity of Choice would be greatly appreciated.

ED, Bernice Dodds Cohoon -

In her 95th year. Following a brief serious illness on January 22nd, 2003. "B" is the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Merrill Ed, loving mother of Jon (Hilda) of Port Hope; Donald (Judi) of Ottawa and the late Eric (Paula) of Maine, USA. She was the adored grandmother of Lisa, Lesli, Katie, Beth, Erin, Stuart and Merrill. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Brittany, Cameron, Leigh, Tia and Matthew. Her brother Atwood Cohoon and sister Eleanor Cohoon Armstrong predeceased "B". She is survived also by sisters in law Louise Ed Marston and Roberta Ed Phillips. Nephews, nieces and manydear friends lovingly remember her. A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, January 27th at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home beginning at 11am followed by a reception at the Wilmot Creek Wheelhouse. Throughout her long life "B" was an avid reader and supporter of public libraries. In her memory contributions of new softback, large print or talking books will be received by the Wilmot Creek Library. Contributions to a Charity of your choice would also be appreciated.

Predeceased by his wife Evaleen, brother Arnold, son-in-law David Carroll, and dear friends Joan and Margery. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Uxbridge (54 Toronto Street South).
