STUART, Doreen Joan (nee Kearney) -

Passed away peacefully on January 24, 2003 following a courageous battle with Cancer. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 48 years Doug, her two daughters, Leslie and Susan, her son Craig, daughter-in-law Jacqui and son-in-law Steve. Her grand children, Adam, Alexandra, Kate and Jack will miss their Nana’s cuddles, reading lessons and bread making. Born in Oshawa, Ontario on August 5th 19(only she knew), to Alan and Erica Kearney, she is being mourned by her sisters Pat (Jim McNally), Betty (Bud Dawson), brothers, Bruce (Pat), Eric (Marge), and Herb (Joyce) who predeceased her. Doreen’s life was filled with family, volunteering, work, books, art, music, a passion for political discussions and always lots of laughter. Her energy and humour could transform all activities including chemotherapy into a social event. Special thanks to Dr Paul Klimo for his exemplary care of Doreen over so many years and to all the chemo nurses who knew mom was going to show up early for her appointments. If friends so desire, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation 231 East 15th St, North Vancouver, BC, V7L 2L7 and marked for the Chemotherapy unit. While all of us will miss her terribly, we know that she is already shopping at Heaven’s Holt Renfrew and organizing bridge and book clubs.
