Loving father of Sherry and her husband Sean, Michelle, Robert and Jennifer. Dear grandfather of Taylor, Samantha, Zachary and Jared. Brother of Bill and his wife Shannon and Janet and her husband Rick. Son of the late Nossy and Eleanor. Son-in-law of Poppy and Wilfred. Brother-in-law of Deborah and her husband Mimmo and Murray and his wife Lisa. Uncle of Andrea, Richard, James, Brian, Braden and Courtney. Dear father of Kim (Doug) Paterson, Fred Jr. (Trish), Crystal, and Jason (Ashley). Brother of Bill (Donna), Jack (Ellen), Ted (Carol) and Mary Anne. Grandfather of Melanie and Shayne Jade. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Susan, Lisa, Jill, Katy, Bradley, Kelly, Amy and Michael. Dear wife of the late Norman Percy.Loving mother of Lois (Broughton), Harry, Ron, Bob, Lloyd, Nancy (Emms), Ray, Sharon (Johnston), Terry, Rick, Barb (Young), Ken Chris (Gale), and Russ. Also loved by her many sons and daughters-in-law. Beloved grandmother to 34 grandchildren, 48 great-grand children and 6 great-great grandchildren. Cherished sister of Elmer, Verna and Velma. Pre-deceased by Orvin, Carmen, Gert and her parents Daniel and Emma Wolfe. A service was held at St. Mark's United Church 201 Centre St. South, Whitby on Tuesday April 8 at 1pm. Cremation. SCHMITZ, Thelma (Mrs. Joseph) (nee Ziegler) -

Suddenly, as the result of a fatal fall in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, on Friday, April 4th, 2003.Thelma (Ziegler) Schmitz of Oshawa was born on September 14th, 1926 in Elmira. Beloved wife of Joseph Schmitz of Oshawa. Loving mother of Susan Jane (and husband Terry) Walker of Whitby and Jay (and wife Cheryl) Schmitz of Edmonton. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Christopher and Alexandra Walker and her nephew Larry Holtze. Predeceased by her parents Andrew and Minnie May (Denman) Ziegler, her brother Robert Ziegler, her sisterBernice Holtze, her sister-in-law "Fannie" Ziegler, and her brother-in-law "Pic" Holtze. Thelma was a fifty year member of the Eastern Star, Kapuskasing, and a graduate nurse of St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. A family interment of the cremated remains was held on Wednesday, April 9th, 2003 in Elmira Union Cemetery. In her memory, donations to Oshawa General Hospital Foundation, Cardiac Care Program, 290 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. Beloved husband of Annabel Gilkes for 40 years. Dear father of Laverne Gilkes Paula) of Vankleek Hill, Ruth Madill (Wilf) of Durham, Edward Gilkes (Wendy) of Oshawa and Texeddie Torok of Oshawa. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kevin, Janneane, Alison, Chad, Kristopher and his three great grandchildren. Dear brother of Florence McVicar, Annie Whyte and Jessie Green. Edward is predeceased by 6 brothers and 2 sisters. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. HARDING Bryan William -

(Longtime member Canadian Corps and former member of Moose Lodge) It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Bryan at Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at the age of 61, following a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon (nee Cousins). Proud father of Brent (fiancee Lisa McLeish) of Brockville and Krista at home. Forever to be missed by his sister Carol Harding (husband Douglas Jermyn) and her children Jill Cohen and Paul Doherty. Bryan is now reunited with his parents, the late William and Robinette Harding. Bryan will be remembered and very much missed by extended family members and his many, many friends. Bryan spent his entire career in the trucking industry where he was highly respected by his peers. His love and knowledge of Nascar Racing were know among his friends and family. Nothing, however, compared to his love for his family home in Burnt River, where he and his family spent many happy times. The family will receive friends at the McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME Ltd., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433 5558) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday and from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday.
