Peacefully, on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 97. Aleta (nee Fockler) of Port Perry and formerly of Greenbank, beloved wife of the late Robert Leask (1958). Loving mother of Margaret and her husband Ira Carr (deceased) of Port Perry, Lois and her husband Murray Gibson (deceased) of Port Perry, Bruce Leask and his wife Shirley of Greenbank and Alex Leask and his wife Sharon of Port Perry. Loved grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her sisters Merla McCormack of North Bay and Alta Tomlinson of Stouffville. The family of Aleta Leask will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905) 985-2171 on Friday from 7-9 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, November 8th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Olga McKellar officiating. Died peacefully with her husband by her side after a courageous battle with an illness at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Wednesday November 5th, 2003. Sue leaves behind her beloved husband Paul and dear children Candice and Adam. Loving daughter of Walter and the late Jean Mychalewycz and Walter's friend Patsy Magnusson. The Thaczuk family is deeply saddened to announce the sudden death of George Thaczuk, at the age of 80, the morning of Wednesday, November 5th, 2003. Precious husband of 60 years to Leda. Cherished father of Irene and Derek; predeceased by daughter Karen and son Ronnie. Dear older brother of Bill, Phil and Victoria; predeceased by sister Mary. Beloved uncle, cousin, father-in-law and friend to many more. During the 1940 s, George served with the Canadian Army as a Tank Corps Instructor at Camp Borden (badge #633340). Norma was a grandmother to Lisa Benoit (Bill), Jennifer Johnson (Andrew), Andrea Reiffenstein (Charles), Johanna Sapinski, Jonathan Sapinski, Kelly Drury (Grant), and Jim Elliott. Great grandmother to Jacob, Danielle, Nicholas, Jessica, Anthony, Lucas, and Noelia. She was an amazing woman and an inspiration to many. Great grandfather of Aidan and Jaelyn. Brother of Herb and the late John Wilson. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and pets Simba and Seville. Doug served on Oshawa Town Council for several years and was known in Oshawa professionally for land development and real estate. EDDY, Larry Alan, FCA
He died. Those who knew Larry well would recognize that the above was the obituary that he requested. Larry passed away peacefully at Cygnet Hollow, his farm near Sunderland, Ontario, on November 2, 2003. His love and wonderful sense of humour will be greatly missed by his wife Dorothy, daughter Kimberley, son Kevin, and daughter-in-law Pamela. His sisters Carole Griffin and Sue O'Neill together with their spouses Peter and Bill and their families will miss him as well. At Larry's request, there will be no service. However, there will be an open house at Cygnet Hollow on Sunday, November 9 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital (building fund) or a Charity of your choice.

LYONS, Betty Lou (nee Reid)
December 17, 1945 (Orangeville, Ontario) - November 2, 2003 (Ajax, Ontario). Betty Lou passed away at 1:30 a.m., unexpectedly and peacefully at Ajax-Pickering Hospital. She will be forever loved by her husband and soulmate of 30 years, Ron Halliday, and her children Sherry-Lee and Danette Lyons, and Bob and Dennis Halliday. She also leaves her brothers Ross and Marvin Reid, and many extended family members. Betty Lou touched so many lives through her compassion for the environment, her love of art and antiques, and her support of our aboriginal community. Betty Lou cared deeply for all animals and, up to her last day with us, was concerned for the well being of her dog and cats. While gone in body, her spirit will live on forever in us and around us. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Ajax-Pickering Hospital and Durham Region's Emergency Medical Service for their dedication and courageous efforts. Betty Lou will be resting at the McEachnie Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Please contact the funeral home for further information regarding the visitation and funeral.
