The Family of Douglas Burden regretfully announce the passing of their Dad on June 6th, 2004. His death came peacefully following a long and difficult illness. Dad was a gentle man, devoted to his late wife Evelyn and his eight children. Dad had a heart that was large with kindness and love for his family. In the end, this same heart told him it was time to be with Mom again, and he agreed. He missed her very much and had looked forward to this day for seven years. Husband of the late Evelyn Burden (Peaker), Douglas is survived by his eight children: Leslie Bissett (David, Calgary), Jane Burden (Kingston), Peter (Gale, Oshawa), Allison Halls (Kent, Oshawa) John (Mary, Oshawa), Mary Ellen Eddy (Douglas, Lindsay) Andrew (Sharon, Courtice) and Elizabeth Saunders (Darrell, Courtice). He will be remembered as “Papa” by 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Doug will also be missed by his brother Donald Burden of Oshawa.
