BANNER, Jean Maxine (nee Raines)
Due to Cancer on Tuesday August 31, 2004 at 79 years of age, with two of her daughters holding her hands, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa. Her memory will be cherished and loved by her son Terry Fudge and his wife Nancy of Hastings, her daughters Barbara Peric and her husband Marino of Burlington, and Cindy Ceranowicz and her husband Edward of Courtice, her grandchildren Marino Peric (Stephanie), Cynthia Obrovac (Rob), Wendy White, James Fudge (Michelle), James Ceranowicz (Heather), and Teresa Ceranowicz, by her 10 great grandchildren and predeceased by her great grandson Dalton Fudge. Jean is predeceased by her husbands James Fudge and Frederick Banner. Jean's family would like to thank the Oncology staff, doctors, nurses and Palliative Care for their professional and compassionate care. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with funeral service in the Chapel on Friday September 3 at 2:00 p.m. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. Memorial donations to the Oncology Department at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa would be greatly appreciated. Family will receive visitors Friday from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

MINDEL, Gertrude (Trudy)
passed away at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry on Tuesday August 31, 2004 in her 90th year. Trudy Mindel wife of the late Arthur Mindel. Loving mother of Gerald and his wife Dianne Mindel and Dagmar and her husband Wayne King. Dear grandmother of Marcelus (Megan) and Julian Mindel and William (Erin) and Richard (Heather ) King and great grandmother of Hailey and Owen King. A private family graveside service was held. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.

RICHTER, Donna Jean (nee Kennedy)
passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, in her 51st year, at Northumberland Hills Hospital, with her husband and sons by her side, after accepting the heroic challenge of brain tumour.
Donna was the loving wife and best friend of Marty for over 27 years, and much loved mother of Jamie, Brent and Paul. Daughter of Marion Jean and the late Jack Nielson Kennedy of Cobourg. Dear sister of Russell Kennedy of Cobourg, Dale and her husband Bill Clarke of Bolton, twin sister Diane and her husband Mike McCarter of Eden Mills; and sister-in-law of Paul and Joyce Richter of Oakville and Terry Richter of Toronto. Donna will also be sadly missed by her nieces Danielle, Melissa and Michelle Kennedy of Cobourg, Jennifer Tse (Clarke) of Toronto, Ashley Barr of Toronto, Julie King (Richter) of Burlington, Alicia Richter of Oakville and nephews Jeffery Clark of Vancouver, Andrew, Mike and Graham Barr of Toronto, Luke, Scott, and Reid McCarter of Eden Mills, and many friends and neighbours. Donna s generous spirit and giving nature endeared her to all who met her. Her passion for life, family sports, and various hobbies was boundless. Donna displayed great courage and strength in dealing with condition and consequences. She will be greatly missed for her love and wise counsel. We thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Northumberland Hills Hospital for striving to allow her the peaceful passing we all hoped and prayed for. Special thanks also to the many other (health care professionals and spiritual healers), who comforted and offered us hope. SLICHTER, Maurice Maxwell
(1913-2004). Maurice Maxwell Slichter of Whitby, Ontario passed away peacefully at Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 in his 91st year. Loving husband of 57 years to Lorna (Wood). Maurice will be forever remembered by his children; Jo Anne and her husband Ronald Young of Burlington; and David and his wife Diane of Kitchener. He remains a beloved Pappa to his grandchildren Laura, and KevinYoung and Nathan and Adrienne Slichter. Maurice was the youngest of a family of seven. He is predeceased by Frank, Harold, Lloyd, Grace (Wing), Ruth (Fisher) and Jack. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Ruth White (Oshawa), Erma Wood (Whitby), Isabelle McCullough (Whitby) and Jessie Slichter (Stratford). Maurice was born and raised in Toronto. He was a florist in the town of Whitby (Slichter s Florist) for 20 years. He returned to teaching in 1959 and earned his B. A. from the University of Toronto in 1963. He taught at St. Andrew s Senior School in Ajax and Pickering High School until his retirement in 1979. To Maurice, Physics is wonderful and he tried to impart this enthusiasm to his students. Maurice was active in the community. He was a 60 year member of the Whitby Masons and served as Worshipful Master. He served in the Whitby Rotary Club for many years and was a member of St. Mark s United Church choir. He served as a pilot officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and was a Cadet Instructor. Maurice will always be remembered as a fine gentleman with a wonderful sense of humour. He possessed a gentle spirit and an amazing ability to touch peoples lives, always willing to open his heart and lend a hand to a friend in need. Family will receive friends at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE Thornton Chapel 847 King St., Oshawa (905-721-1234) for visitation on Thursday, September 9th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Loving mother of Darlene (Ken) Strickland. Dearest grandmother of Tim (Carol), Scott (Kristina), Mark (Wendy), Jennifer Taylor (Ken) and great-grandmother of Jacob and Josh. BENTLEY, Elmor Ernest
passed away Sunday, August 29th, 2004 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Edna (Green) for 62 years. Loving father to the late Allan (late Linda), and Sharon. Beloved grandfather to James (Kailla), Lori and Lisa (Travis). Great grandfather to Zachery. Dear brother of the late Willmot (Alma), the late Mervyn (late Velma), Dewitt (Norene), the late Carl, the late James (Dorothy), the late Dorothy (Fred). Will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and friends. Elmor worked for the Stouffville Co-op for over 25 years. He was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows and the Uxbridge Seniors Curling Club. Elmor's passion for the past 26 years was the pursuit of the Bentley family history. After a brief battle with cancer at Lakeridge Bowmanville on Sunday, August 29th, 2004 at the age of 71. Beloved husband and friend of Elva (nee Luke) for 48 years. Loving father of Joanne (Clarence) MacPherson of Whitby and David of Bowmanville. Devoted ''Grampy'' to Ken and Meghan MacPherson. Dear brother of David (Marie) of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Agnes and David McCalden. After a long and courageous battle with cancer at Foster brooke Long Term Care Facility on Sunday August 29th 2004. Lilli Mischkofsky in her 80th year. Beloved wife of the late Herbert Mischkofsky. NOBLE (Phalen) Judy Earlyne-
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judy at the age of 61. She is survived by her loving husband Arnold, with whom she enjoyed almost 44 years of marriage, her 3 devoted daughters, Sheila, Brenda (Chris), Marilyn, and her son-in-law Don. Judy was the proud and doting Grandma to her 5 unique grandchildren; Brad, Greg, Laura, Jonathan, and Nicholas. Other family members she leaves behind are her brothers Jim (Janette), Pete (Linda), Perry (Rosemarie) and Ted (Betty Ann), her brother-in-law Art and sister-in-law Kathy, her uncles Tom and Pat (Lilli), many cousins, nieces and nephews, and she will be fondly remembered by her long time friends Harold and Dell, Judy and Joyce. Judy was predeceased by her 2 precious infant sons, Arnold and James, her dear mother Lillian, sister Audrey and brother Joe. Judy loved all her family deeply, with a fierce and protective love, and this love was returned to her abundantly. She was cherished by all and will be sadly missed. Judy had a career with the Becker Milk Co. for over 20 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her position as manager at the store on Simcoe St. N. She was a very hard worker and thrived at her job. Throughout her life Judy suffered many heartaches and illness'. She faced each one bravely and with determination. She had a strong faith in the Lord which helped her cope with these trying circumstances. For the past 3 years she struggled valiantly with breast cancer. Her tired spirit is now at rest. February 26, 1932 - August 28, 2004. Peacefully at his home in Oshawa, surrounded by his loving family. Art is survived by his loving wife Noriene. Much loved father of rick Parsons and his wife Olga, Linda Lepine, Gary Parsons and his wife Judi, Terry Parsons and his wife Cathy, Mike Parsons, and Kevin Parsons. Elva will also be sadly missed by her 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Bill Pingle (deceased), Ora Howie (deceased), Jack Pingle of Ajax and Marilyn Ridgway of Cobourg. Survived by his mother, Pearl Gavel, his brother Ross Gavel and his wife Helen, sister-in-law Ellen Gavel, nieces Ruth, Mary, Cathie, Edna, Bonnie, nephews Iean and Chris, many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, John Gavel and his brother, Alvin Gavel.
