Loving mother of Joan Hooper and her husband Jack of Oshawa and Frances Barr of Toronto. Fondly remembered grandmother of Brian Hooper and his wife Lori, David Hooper and his wife Marlene and predeceased by Beverly Hooper, and great-grandmother of Amanda, Joshua, Taylor and Caleb. Dear sister of Gene Foster of Bancroft, Maisie Eggleton of Madoc and predeceased by John Foster , Edna Blair, Lloyd Foster , Joseph Foster and Cecil Foster , and their families. (Retired OPP Superintendent) Peacefully, on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry. Gordon Keast of Port Perry, beloved husband of the late Betty (nee Church). Loved father of Ronald Keast and his wife Elizabeth of Burlington. Grandfather of Randall of Georgetown, Mark of Pickering and Tabitha of Toronto. Predeceased by his brothers Leslie Keast and Daniel Keast and his sister Luella Taillon. Helen (nee Wardell), beloved wife of the late John Nowell (2000) and the late Clifford McKitterick (1960). Loved mother of Frank McKitterick and Judy Charles of Waterloo, Don McKitterick and his wife Heidi of Port Perry, Jo-Anne and her husband Paul Liut of Windsor, and the late Peter McKitterick (1946) and second mother of Carol and her husband Don Snyder of Mississauga and Susan and her husband John Knox of Campbellford. Loving grandmother of Peter, Christopher, Nicholas, Emma, Philip, Laura, Heather and Scott. BESTWICK, Florence Ruth
Peacefully passed away on Monday, February 27, 2006 at Fairvern Nursing Home in Huntsville, Ontario, at the age of 88, where she had been living close to her family, for the last two years. Prior to that, Ruth and her beloved husband Walter, who predeceased her in the year 2000, resided in Oshawa for over 60 years. Ruth is the cherished mother of Winston and his wife Marilyn of Huntsville. Loving grandma of Jamie, David, Jeffrey, Todd and Tammy. Great-grandmother of Theresa, Lea and Ryan. Ruth's passions in life were music, politics, public service, friends and family. We will all miss her infectious smile, positive spirit and determination. (Veteran of W.W.II, serving from 1943-1946 in England and Europe with Royal Canadian Engineers; life member and honourary elder and member of Board of Trustees of Centre Street United Church and Centennial Albert United Church; great-grandson of The Rev. Thomas Henry).
Peacefully, after a short hospital stay, at Lakeridge Health Corp. Bowmanville, on Monday, February 27, 2006, in his 90th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Elizabeth (nee Sweet) for over 59 years. Loving father of Robert Edward and his wife Karen of Victoria, B.C., Alec Warren of Oshawa, and David William and his wife Judy of Calgary. Loving grampa of Kenneth William Dearborn of Oshawa and his mother Karen. Also fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law Jack Bonnetta, Ernest Sweet and his sister-in-law Pauline Redden and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Warren Edward Hathaway Dearborn and Leah Muriel (nee Patterson), his brothers and sisters, Clarence Dearborn and his wife Evelyn, Irma Bell, and her husband Charlie, Betty Bonnetta and Anna Dearborn. Following W.W.II he returned to a career in farming until the early 1950's. He then started a second career with Curran & Briggs, later to become McCord's Ready Mix, until retirement in 1982. Bill and Elizabeth have enjoyed a happy time living in Courtice since retirement. At Bill's request cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to join his family in a Celebration of Bill's Life, beginning Thursday, March 9, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558). After a long battle with colon cancer, entered into rest surrounded by his family, on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the Bowmanville Hospital. Beloved husband of Gwenna (nee Sloan) for 41 years. Loving and devoted father of Jon and his wife Alison, and Shauna and her husband Scott Rekker. Dave dearly loved his grandchildren Taylor and Zachary Campbell and Hayley and Clare Rekker. Loving son of Margaret and the late Walter Campbell. Dear brother of John and his wife Arlene Campbell and Alex and his wife Ginny Campbell, and the late Walter S. Campbell and brother-in-law of Jane Sloan and her husband Bryan Spencer. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. May 4, 1972 - February 25, 2006. Jason passed away very suddenly and tragically at the age of 33 on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at his home in Bowmanville, doing what he loved best...spending quality time with his beloved wife, Jennifer, and two young sons, Dalton, age 14 and Hunter, age 1. Loving and only son of Barbara and Clifford Brooks of Clearwater, Florida. Loving son-in-law to Jackie and Robert Gallie of Wellington, Ontario. Loved brother-in-law and friend to Trish and Sean Gallie of Bowmanville, Ontario. Best friend to Craig Tuepah of Peterborough. Age 81 years. Passed away peacefully, supported by her family, on Saturday February 25th, 2006. Loving sister of Howard Nelles and his wife Dorothy. Fond cousin of Jack Harrison and his late wife Helen and their children Mary, Doug and Fred. Helen had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by her family who will always remember her for her kindness, generosity and dedication to them. Fun loving and full of spirit, Helen will be sadly missed by the many friends she made during her lifetime and by their children, who knew her as “Aunt Helen”. Helen was a well-known and active participant in the local Bowmanville community where she spent most of her life and was a devoted member of Trinity United Church. A special thank you to the staff at the Second Nest and the Comfortable Alternative who gave Helen friendship and care during the past few years. LEY, Ida (nee Garrecht)
August 4, 1923 – February 24, 2006. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom peacefully at home after a brief battle with cancer. Predeceased by our Dad, Hans. Mom leaves behind her son Karl, daughter Rosel Gosse (Frazer). Devoted Grandma to Laurie McLean (Ian), Tammara Hutchinson (Darren), Adam Gosse and Christopher Ley. Oma to her adored great-granddaughters Sarah McLean and Darby Hutchinson. Special sister-in-law to Erna Herhold and “Grandma Ley” to Stefanie and Cori Davidge (Al & Robin). Born in Germany, the youngest of 10 children Mom is survived by her sister, Erna Kniza and many nieces, nephews and cousins. We are eternally grateful for having been a part of her life, for the love she gave to each of us and for all she taught us. Mom was a very special lady and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation for your excellent care and support to Dr. Stephen Cohen, to Durham Access to Care, to the nursing staff from Care Partners especially Margaret, Heather, Betty and Jeanne and to the staff from Com-Care particularly Bev & Judy, to Dr. Nicole Devost and the palliative nursing team. Heartfelt thanks also to all our friends and family for your phone calls, emails, visits, cards, flowers, food and your continued love and compassion.
