Peacefully, at the Rouge Valley Health Centre, Ajax site on Friday, March 10, 2006, in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Charles. Loving mother of Gary, Robert and his wife Evelyn. Cherished grandmother of Noel, Shawn and Blake. Dear sister of Shirley Brickell (Howard), Bill Carslake (Joyce) and the late Murray Carslake. Sister-in-law to Alida. She will be lovingly remembered by dear friend Ken Arnott, nieces, nephews and many friends.

DEAK, Edith Mary
passed away Friday March 10, 2006 after a lengthy illness at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Beloved wife of Frank Deak of Oshawa, ON. Edith was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, the first of four children born to John and Dorothy Barrie. Frank and Edith were married in Lethbridge on June 1, 1944 and moved from Calgary to Oshawa in 1961. Besides her husband Frank, Edith is survived by brother John (Joyce) Barrie of Kimberley, BC; daughter Donna (Les) Moore of Brampton, ON; two grandsons Brad (Tammy) and Scott (Anne) Moore of Brampton, ON; granddaughter Carley (Brad) Grondin, Orangeville, ON; great grandchildren Breanna, Bryce, Daniel, Cameron and several nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by infant sister Jeanette and infant brother Leonard. In her lifetime, Edith was employed at Income Tax Office, Vancouver, BC, Sears of Calgary, Eatons Oshawa Centre and Shoppers, Oshawa. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. A complete service will be held in the chapel on Monday March 13, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Honourary Pallbearers, all of Edith s family, friends and neighbours present today.

FOSTER, Scott
Peacefully at rest on Friday, March 10, 2006, in his 33rd year. Beloved son of John and Shirley Foster (nee Rodd) of Port Perry. Loving brother of Annette and her husband Todd Soomre. Wonderful Uncle to their children Graham and Gregory. Grandson to Kenneth Rodd (Mildred, deceased) and his dear friend Jackie. Dearly loved by Aunt Marilyn, Uncle Keith, Uncle Ron and their families. Beloved boyfriend to Susan Coles. Cherished by many friends. Favorite companion of Luke his loyal Golden Retriever. HARRIS, Inez Mary (nee Morton)
(active member of the Orono Horticultural Society and both the UCW and ACW in Orono) peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family in her 86th year (June 25, 1920), on Friday March 10, 2006. Beloved wife for 46 years of the late Lawrence Harris (1986). Dear mother of Joyce (Douglas) Hird, Evelyn (Roy) Fulford, Ronald (Julie), Douglas, Linda (Bill) Sears, and Charles (Aimie). Sister of Muriel (Jim) Grunerud, sister-in-law of Lois Morton, and predeceased by brother Bob Morton. Loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and her best friend Tweetie Bird. In lieu of flowers, donations to Durham Access to Care, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by her family. HOPKINS, Derek Peter
Peacefully on Friday March 10, 2006 at Oshawa Extendicare in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Kathleen for 59 years. Loving father of Susan, Judy (Brian), Debbie (Mike) and Lisa. Cherished "Grandpa" of Aaron, Peter, Matthew and Russell. Survived by his brother Sydney. Will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and extended family members. Derek was a long time employee of General Motors in the accounting department. Donations in Derek's memory may be directed to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

JOHNSTON, Barbara Mary Jean (nee Sellers)
At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, March 10, 2006. Born July 18, 1932. Loving mother of Diana and predeceased by son Perry. Survived by her former husband Ken Johnston. Loving sister of Louise Lyle, Grace Jacques, Margaret Anderson, Edith Hughes, and predeceased by Dorothy Sayer, Bill, Ray, Mell, Gord, Tom, George, and Herbie Sellers. Missed by special friend Bob Buzzminski. At Barbara s request, the family had a private gathering, followed by cremation with no funeral service. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations to the Children s Wish Foundation or the Hospital for Sick Children would be appreciated by the family and may be made through NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 905-987-3964, with whom arrangements have been entrusted.

MARTIN, Betty (Bessie) (nee Edgel)
passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 10th, 2006, at the age of 85 in Beamsville Ontario. Formerly from Oshawa, she survived her husband of 50 years, Roy Martin, who passed in 1991. She is survived by daughters Brenda McDonald married to Charles McDonald, and Donna Holman. She is also survived by 3 grandsons Darrin Holman and wife Shelly, Charles and Jason, and grand- daughters Tracy McDonald and Ashley Holman. She will be especially missed by great grandsons Nicholas, Nathen and Nevin and great granddaughter Ashley Holman. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 566 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa at 3pm, Saturday March 25th, 2006.

(Longtime Member of Local 894 Oshawa) passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday March 10, 2006. Ken in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of Beverley. Dear father of Kenny, Ted, Gail (Gary), Jackie, Pattie (Bill), Jane (Tony) and Clifford (predeceased). Truly missed by his grandchildren Erin, Bobbie, Candice, Tanya, Joff, Alisha, Amanda, Erica, Brandon, Jacqueline, Jake and Kylie, and by his great grandchildren Alex, Desirra, Hayden and Brianna. Loved father of Jody Williams (Deb) of Seattle, Washington, Lawrie Williams of Port Perry, Jay Williams (Laurie) of Port Perry, and stepfather of Susan Wylie (Mike) of Little Britain, Debra Wylie of Oshawa, David Wylie (Fil) of Whitby, and Paul Wylie of Oshawa. Loving guardian of Bryan Graham of Port Perry. Dear brother of Bob Williams and his wife Ruth of Bowmanville, Ruth and her husband Ralph Poole of Toronto, Jean and her husband Rich Black of Oshawa, Helen and her husband Don Hadden of Sunderland, Alice and her husband Bob Matthews of Oshawa, and Janice and her husband Ron Blakeley in England. Bill will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. MARSTON, Geoffrey Charles (Jeff)
Retired 30 year employee of General Motors, member of R.C.L. Branch 43) passed away peacefully in his 90th year with his family by his side on March 8th, 2006 at Lakeridge Health - Oshawa. Loving husband of Jean for 60 years. Beloved father of Nancy, Barry and his wife Joy. Cherished and devoted papa of Ryan and Heather. Predeceased by his parents Elsie and Bert Marston. Jeff is a WWII veteran who served in the Canadian Army in Hong Kong. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of 3rd floor Extendicare - Oshawa for their care and compassion. RIMMER, Ralph
April 18, 1915 - March 8, 2006. Resident of Pickering Village from 1950 to 1972. Retired employee of the University of Toronto, Athletic Dept. in 1980. Ralph was an avid Squash Player and coach of the inter-collegiate and intramural teams at the U of T and after retirement an instructor in the Whitby and Oshawa areas. In his 91st year, peacefully at Hillsdale Seniors Home, Oshawa on March 8, 2006. Predeceased by his parents William and Isabella Rimmer, his wife of 36 years Lillian (Groves), his sister Florence Christie (Bill), his daughter Joyce Watson and son-in-law Reg Watson of Newcastle. Survived by his loving wife Joyce, his sons Bill of Peterborugh, Rick (Jane) of Oshawa, his brothers Bill of Cambridge and Gord (Jane) of Seaforth, step-daughters Margot McKinlay (Mike) of Oshawa, Heather Mudd (Graeme) of Calgary and Adrienne Stronach of Owen Sound. Sadly missed by his 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Born May 8th, 1911 at Doune, Perthshire, Scotland. Peacefully at Lakeridge Health-Whitby on Tuesday, March 7th, 2006 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Clarence Clary and predeceased by her parents Margaret and Samuel Hamilton. Loving mother of Doune (Alan) Ogawa and Robert (Gail). Grandmother of Jodi, Pam, Erin (Tony) Vohsemer, Bonita (Ian) Dobson and great grandmother of Jordan, Brett, Brandon and Trevor. At Winnifred s request there will be no service. Cremation. DOUGALL, Thomas Foreman
(W.W.II Veteran, R.A.F. - P.O.W. 4 years) Peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 7, 2006. Thomas Foreman Dougall in his 89th year. Loving husband of Olive for 60 years. Loving father of Margaret Wilson and Carol Matsuyama. Lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren. Tom was a man who experienced more in one lifetime than most of us could do in two - from flying and fighting in WWII for Britain, moving to Canada, working as a printer and raising his family. He touched many lives through his art, his church community and neighbours. We love and remember him for his unique sense of humour. His passing has left a void in the lives of all his family and friends.
