THURLOW, HELENA LUELLA passed away into the presence of her Lord on December 6, 2002 at Chilliwack, BC, at the age of 84 years. She was born December 12, 1917 in Beechy, Saskatchewan and lived in Saskatoon, Kelowna, and Chilliwack. In Saskatoon, Helena worked many years for Williams Catering and was a member of the Church of Christ. She retired to Kelowna in 1980 and then to Chilliwack where she spent her last years with her loving family until her death. Helena is survived by her children; Ken, Stew, Greg, Ron and Maxine; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Frank; daughter, Lauraine; grandson, Steven; several sisters, brothers, and her parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from Park Funeral Chapel, 311 3rd Ave. N, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 13, 2002 from Park Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place from Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Pallbearers: Cory Lepine, Darcy Lepine, Cris Schandel, James Wood, Jeff Wood, and Brandon Thurlow. Honorary pallbearer is Chris Lloyd. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. MCSHANE, JEAN: passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2002 at the age of 72 years. Survived by her loving family, two daughters: Leanne Crete of Kelowna, Michele Martin (Tim Myhr) of Kelowna, two sons: Richard Martin of Ottawa, John Martin of Calgary, three grandchildren: Samantha, Matthew and Michelle, one great grandchild Dylan, one brother John (Delores) Larche of Timmins, ON, and several nieces and nephews. BURKE, ROLAND (ROLLY): Died suddenly in Salmon Arm, B.C. on Sunday evening, December 15, 2002 at the age of 70 years. Born in Grahamdale, Manitoba on July 13, 1932, Rolly worked at many jobs during his life. He retired from working for the City of Kelowna and moved to Salmon Arm in 1987. In the fall of 1992 he moved to the peace and quiet of Eagle Bay and quickly became involved in the community. He is well remembered for his kind and generous nature, and for being Dad and Grampa to so many. Survived by his loving wife Joyce; daughters, Patricia Ann of Williams Lake, Linda Kate of Vancouver; son Keith and his wife Janet of Fort St. John; 6 grandchildren, Peter, Chuck, Chris, Beckie, Ryan and Steven; great grandson Alex; brother Bill of Chase and two sisters in Winnipeg, Connie and Dot; and by so many others who knew him as Dad or Grampa. The funeral service will be held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Salmon Arm on Thursday afternoon, December 19th at 2:30pm with Pastor Edward Dunn and Heimo Hegheson officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Rolly may be sent to the BC Heart Fund. DENNIS, KATHLEEN (KAY) P.J. passed away in Kelowna, B.C. at Cottonwoods, Care Home on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the age of 77. Born on December 18, 1924 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, where she resided until she joined her children and grandchildren in the Okanagan / Similkameen. She is survived by her loving family; daughter, Colleen Carlson; sons, Robert Dennis (Brenna) and Lee McCulloch (Queenie); sister, Shirley Marks (Les); brother, Jack McCulloch (Jean), Harvey Watson; grandchildren Brandie (Yuri), Chilann, Katie, Delene, Shae, Darian and Keinen; great grandchildren, Riley, Misha, Sasha and Sofia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 'Grandma' Kay touched a lot of lives and will be remembered by many. Her generous, caring and honest ways will be treasured in the hearts of family and friends forever. Life's greatest gifts are love and memories of family and friends. We love you Grandma Kay, 'always'. A gathering of friends and family will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at #3-109-7841 Hwy 97, Winfield. MacMILLAN, KEITH ROSS passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at the age of 79. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years. ROEDGER, URSULA ELIZABETH (NEE ECKERT): born December 22nd, 1934 at Heidenberg, East Prussia passed away on December 18th, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Loving wife of Alex F. Roedger and mother to Roy (Maggie) of Toronto and Peter (Lydia) of Port Elgin, ON and five grandsons, her brother Heinz in California, sister Christel in California, brother Uli in Germany and their extended families. Ursula was predeceased by her infant son Kirby 1962-1966 and her baby daughter Rebecca 1970 and by her brother Rolf. Ursula was schooled in Germany until immigrating to Canada in October 1953. She trained at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto in Nursing. She marriage Alex F. Roedger in Kitimat, B.C. in March 1958. She lived in Toronto, Kitimat, Vancouver, Deep River, ON, Port Elgin, ON, Westbank, B.C. Ursula worked mostly as an emergency room nurse from 1966-1988, and was an inaugural church council member of Faith Lutheran Church in Port Elgin, ON and an active chamber of commerce member with various other community organizations. Ursula and Alex were both members of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Westbank, B.C. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 20th, 2002 at 3:00 P.M. in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Brown Road, Westbank, B.C. PREHOFER, FRANK: Born September 28, 1928 in Julbach, Germany. passed away peacefully December 24, 2002 in Kelowna. Survived by his loving wife, Helen, sons Frank (Carmen), Eric and daughter Karin (Mike), seven grandchildren, Brandon, William, Christopher, Dustin, Nicky, Ashley and Benjimen. Came to Kelowna in 1959 and was active in the construction industry until his retirement. Frank enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandsons, golf and gardening. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from Immaculate Conception Church at 839 Sutherland Ave., Sat. Dec 28 at 11:00 AM. REINBOLT, LORRAINE (NEE GRANT) passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 22nd, 2002 at the young age of 60 years. Born in Killarney, Manitoba. She is survived by her loving husband Ed, son Dan (Daria) Grant, daughters: Wendy (Ed) Creed, Tracey (Tom) Miller, six grandchildren: Wiley, Dylan, Joey, Sam, Saxon and Sienna, five step children and ten step grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Pat (Marcel) Arbay and her brother Gerald Deshayes and brother in law Ray King. Predeceased by her sister Jeanette King. MEIER, KATHARINA (KATIE) passed away December 26, 2002 at the age of 92 years. She is survived by her children Ray (Yvonne), Lucille (Maurice) Gaudreau, Ron; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband George and son Mervyn. Cote, Louis: passed away December 26, 2002 at the age of 61 years. Louis is survived by his wife Sandra, special friend Mina, three daughters, Deanna (Rick) of Ardrossan, Chandra (Jay) Maple Ridge, Jolene (Ron) of Kelowna, Five grandchildren, Michelle, Jesse, Cple, Marcus, Taylor May; two brothers: Richard, Billy plus numerous nephews and nieces and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Edward & Helen, one sister Barbara Richardson. Fedor, William: On December 28, 2002 there was a great family reunion in heaven, when our father, grandfather, great grandfather, Bill Fedor at the age of 87 left us for the kingdom of God. Dad was one of the last survivors of the Battle of Britain and his skill gained there as a master mechanic stood him in good stead throughout his business career. He was known for the joy he took in fixing and inventing things, his love of flowers and for stealing Grandma's smarties. He served the Church for many years in varied ministries and was instrumental, while working on the refugee committee, for laying the ground work for what is now Share. He is predeceased by his wife Pauline in 1991 and earlier by a daughter and son. He is survived by his daughters: Jan (Wally) Schredl, June (Paul) Klarenbeek and son John (Pam), ten grandchildren and an ever increasing number of great grandchildren as well as by sister Anne, brothers Paul and Tom all of Hamilton, ON and his sister Sister Mary Nicholas of Winnipeg. We want to thank all those who gave of their time to visit Dad at Cottonwoods, to the staff there and especially to Bo who kept the last vigil with us. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you remember Dad by a donation to the cause of Pro-Life, dear to the hearts of Mom & Dad. It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing to peace of an incredible man, John Kolenda. He will be missed by his soulmate and wife of 54 years, Helena; by his loving children, Roberta, Angela (Paul), Helen (Ted), Johnny and Michael (Jodi): his constant companion Koko; his grandchildren: Tanya, Kimberly, Cory, Desiree, Colin, Mallory, Lyra, Ariana and his two great grandchildren: Avery-John and MacGregor.
