Longtime Member of Central Group; General Motors Retiree after 25 years – Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday August 24, 2007, at the age of 77. Beloved very close friend of Beatrice. Loving father of John (Ingrid), Donald (Shelley), Charlotte (Peter), Michael, and Alex (Heather). Predeceased by his sisters Betty, Iris , Violet and Hilda, and by his brother Bobby. Dear brother of Audrey Adams of Scotland. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jill, Julia, Jenni, Jesse, Josh, Melissa, Matthew, Emily, D.J., Jake, Michael, Cora, Ashley and by his great grandson Hunter. KOCH, Dorothea Louise
(Retired from General Motors) Peacefully, on Friday, August 24, 2007 at the Community Nursing Home in Pickering, at age 94. Dorothea (nee O’Neil), a long time resident of Crandle Street in Port Perry was predeceased by her husband Bernard Koch in 1942, her father Roy O’Neil in 1947 and her mother Hazel (nee Oke) in 1968. The extended family of Dorothea Koch will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Monday, August 27th from 12 noon – 1 p.m. A Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 1 p.m. with Reverend Nancy Monteith officiating. Private Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Port Perry United Church Memorial Fund or the Port Perry Hospital Foundation.

PATERSON, Charlene Ruby
After a brief battle with cancer, Charlene passed away surrounded by her family on Friday August 24, 2007. Charlene at age 49. Sadly missed by her special friend Lawrence Dunn. VAN DAM, Brian Cornelius

WILKINSON, Maria Grace (nee Benedetti)
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maria Wilkinson announces her passing at Credit Valley Hospital on Friday, August 24th 2007 in her 59th year. Beloved wife of Bruce for 38 years; loving and devoted mother of Michael and his wife Lesley, and Natalie and her husband Shaun; adored Nana of Lauren and Brendan; dear sister of the late Bruno Benedetti and his wife Dianne, and caring aunt of David (Mina) and Lisa (Moe). Special thanks to the Wickett, Jaikaran, Leblanc and Amirault families as well as Anna Gallina and all of our friends for their love and support during this difficult time. It has been a long and arduous journey for Maria since being diagnosed with ovarian cancer 4 ½ years ago. We are all so proud of her valiant fight but the time has come for her to rest, and finally be at peace. Our family wishes to thank all the wonderful doctors (especially Dr. Fine, Dr. Besik, Dr. Digges, and Dr. Sauls) and nurses in the oncology and palliative care units as well as the great team from the oncology clinic. The care they have provided to our mother, and our family has been nothing short of amazing, and we have benefited immensely from their brilliant minds and compassionate hearts. Maria is now resting at Glen Oaks Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line (at Dundas), Oakville, 905.257.8822. Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27th, 2007 with service and burial from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. and reception immediately following. If desired, remembrances may be made in Maria's honour to the Palliative Care Unit at Credit Valley Hospital.

At Sunnycrest Nursing Home on Thursday August 23, 2007, Roma (nee Mayberry) at 93 years of age. Beloved wife of the late William Bellingham. Loving mother of the late Lorna Ringel and loving mother in law to Allan M. Ringel. Loving grandmother of Allan W. Ringel and the late Deborah Ringel. Roma will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and extended family throughout Canada and Great Britain. HINKLEY, Florence Ruth
(1920- 2007) In her 87th year. Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Wednesday August 22nd 2007.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late “Chuck” Hinkley (RCAF Class of “37”) and the dearly loved mother of John Hinkley & his wife Lorraine (deceased) of Thornhill, Ontario. Dear Grammy to Stephen and Terri Hinkley of Pickering, Ontario and Julie and Jeff Sutherland of Bolton, Ontario and doting Great Grammy to Rob, Megan, Emma, Rachel, Charlotte and Heather.
A Funeral Service will take place at ST. JOHN’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 11 Temperance Street, Bowmanville, Ontario on Monday August 27th 2007 at 11 am. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the time of service. Private Interment at St. James Cemetery, Toronto. Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church or St. George’s Anglican Church. Arrangements were entrusted to THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, Bowmanville, Ontario, 905-623-5668.
It has been said that Ruth was “ahead of the times” serving in her younger years in offices usually held by men. She was the first woman accountant in the Canadian Division of Smith, Kline and French International Division, Montreal, Quebec and following Chuck’s transfer to Ottawa she was an Accounting Supervisor with the National Defence Research Board.
Throughout her life (following in her mother’s footsteps) she was involved in Anglican Church activities. She held offices at the Parish, Deanery, Diocesan and, National level, served on the ACW Finance Committee; the Task Force on the Rights of Indian Women; Women’s Program Committee and she was a Representative to the Seminar on Church and State Relations, sponsored by the Canadian Council of Bishops. Also, she was a Canadian representative to the Canterbury, England “Women in the Anglican Community” – in support of the Ordination of Women.
Ruth was a member and Officer of the Ottawa Council of Women and the Ontario Provincial Council of Women and served a term as President of the National Council of Women and Vice President of the International Council of Women. In 1976-79 she was involved in the Formation of the Americans Regional Council and was a Founding Member and Signator to the Charter of the National Council Development Organization and MATCH International.
In the 1970-1980s she served on Boards of the Canadian commission of UNESCO Status of Women Committee; The Unitarian Service Committee, The Canadian Council on Social Development; The May Court Club (Ottawa); The Ottawa and District Association for the Mentally Retarded and the National Voluntary Organizations (NVO). On the latter, she chaired a Task Force (Revenue Canada Panel) whose efforts were directed to inclusion in the Income Tax Act of relieving measured for the activities of Charitable Organizations, one result was a simplified Income Tax Return for Charitable Organizations.
Ruth and Chuck moved to Wilmot Creek in 1985 and through the years Ruth served in a number of offices of the home owners association and represented residents of Wilmot Creek on the Board of Ontario Owned Home-leased Lot Federation and made submissions to the Ontario Government. These submissions and those of like communities, resulted in the passage of Bill 21-The Land-Lease Statute Law Amendment Act to the Rental Protection Act. Also, Ruth prepared submissions and spoke at hearings concerning the Clarington Official Plan – as it affected Wilmot Creek.
Ruth believed in a society where the rights, well-being and personal worth of older persons was promoted, respected and utilized. Through the years she received many citations and awards, including the Queen’s Silver and Golden Jubilee medals and, in Wilmot Creek, was honoured by the naming of a street as Hinkley Trail.

JOVANOVIC, Lynn M.
Suddenly on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007 Lynn passed away. Lynn will be sadly missed by her husband Zoran as well as her 2 children Ashley (Kyle) and Mitchel. Lovingly remembered by her mother Beatrice Donaghy and her three brothers Ted (Betty Ann), John and Mike. Predeceased by her brothers Steven and David and nephew Shane. Never forgotten by her nieces and nephews Kelly, Cristin, Stacey, Billy, Katie, Mark and Michelle as well as her many friends. Member of Legion Branch 486 W.W. II Navy Veteran Peacefully at Fairview Lodge in Whitby on August 22, 2007, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Mary. Predeceased by wife Lillian.
