MURRAY, JOHN BREMNER (BREM) passed away peacefully on January 22, 2003. Born May 11, 1923 Brem served in WWII, had a distinguished career in the Armed Forces as an aeronautical engineer and taught at Rutland Jr. High School for 14 years before retiring. An avid golfer and curler Brem lived life to the fullest and will be fondly remembered by his loving family, friends and former students. Predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, June Amy (Court) in 1997 and his sister Edith, he is survived by his brothers Wallace (Rose) and Keith (Irene) and their families, his four sons; Wayne (Corky) and Doreen, Russell Brent (R.B.) and Fran, Jamey Ray (J.R.) and Linda, Blair (Bear) and Pauline, six grandchildren; Kelly (Terry), Jason (Christie), Jeffery, Tiffany, Kevin, Carien (Derek), two great-grandchildren; Connor and Branden. A service celebrating Brem's life will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Valleyview Funeral Home, 165 Valleyview Rd. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of B.C./Yukon.

Bayrack, Stanley: On Sunday, January 26, 2003, Dad went to be with Mom in a kinder, gentler place. He leaves behind 2 loving daughters and their husbands, Rin and Jim Kuchmak of Westbank and Brenda and Rick May of Richmond, B.C. 3 much loved grandchildren: Jodi and her husband Richie Rolke of Coldstream, B.C., Jerry Kuchmak of Kelowna and Patrick Audley and his wife Elizabeth of Dundee, Scotland, 3 precious great grandchildren; Daniel Kuchmak of Dawson Creek, Caitlin and Robyn Rolke of Coldstream, his nephew Bill Bayrack and Bill's wife Janice of Sherwood Park, Alberta and Bill's Mom, Ollie Bayrack of Edmonton, Patrick's Dad, Bruce Audley of Sherwood Park, Alberta and Twinkle, Dad's special kitty friend. Kennedy, Guiler: Born September 14, 1925 in Nelson, B.C. Guiler passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 25, 2003 with his family at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Peggy; his children Murray (Heather) Kennedy-MacNeill, Susan (Bryan Nethery), Dianne (Peter Guidi); his grandchildren Elizabeth Nethery, Chad Guidi, Kevin Guidi and step-grandchildren Sarah MacNeill-Morrison, Sophie MacNeill and Emma MacNeill; and his nieces and nephews Terri Kennedy, Geordie Farrell, Richard Laughton, Stuart MacKenzie and Marguerite Harrott. Guiler lived his life fully, joyously, and well organized in the North of Ireland, Penticton, Kelowna, Powell River, Vancouver, Lac Quevillon Quebec, returning to the Okanagan in 1969. He and Peggy moved to Victoria (Sidney) in 1999, Guy was President and Chair of the Southern Interior Construction Association for many years and remained an honourary lifetime member. The Kennedy family invites you to join in a celebration of Guiler's life on Saturday, February 1 at 12 noon at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1155 Fort Street, Victoria. Kipling, Kip Ivan of Peachland, BC, passed away in the Kelowna General Hospital on January 24, 2003 at the age of 54 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 31 years, Ann; daughter Wendy (Trevor) Hogue (grandchildren Brandon and Emma); Andrea (Ken) Manning of Edmonton, and Jane Kipling of Peachland, sister Debbie Kipling of Westbank; brothers Dale (Glenis) Kipling of Langley, Gerry (Brenda) Kipling of Calgary, Roy (Maxine) Kipling of Calgary, mother-in-law Lillian Shirley of England, brother-in-law Dave (Carol) Shirley of England, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Kip was predeceased by his mother Gertrude, father Floyd and father-in-law Joseph Shirley. He was a member of the Peachland Lions Club and Legion Br. 69. Kip will be deeply missed by the many friends he touched over the years. LAKEVOLD, LUTHER ALONZO of Kelowna, passed away in the Kelowna General Hospital on Monday, January 27th, 2003 at the age of 78 years. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years of marriage Gene; three sons Brian, Terry and Rick and one daughter Tammy. WATERTON, MURIEL: On January 25th, 2003 Muriel Waterton passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is survived by her loving family, two sons: Stewart and Ron (Wendy) and daughter Faith (John) Gilpin, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and by her sister Beulah. DAVIS, LESLIE ANDREW: passed away on Monday, January 27, 2003 at the age of 88. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Alma; two daughters: Marilyn Shirkie (Al) of Calgary, Bonnie Davis (Al White) of Westbank; four sons: Earl Davis (Eileen) of Quesnel, Reg Davis (Lori) of Calgary, Ed Davis (Linda) of Barrhead, Ken Davis (Sharon) of Kelowna; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Leslie farmed in Tees, AB for 19 years, was a motel owner in Fort McLeod, AB for 11 years, moved to Kelowna in 1967 and was manager of the Bermuda House Apartments for 16 years. O'Neill, Terry (nee Tinevez): passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003 at Kelowna General Hospital with family by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband, Ed, in 1998, she will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her children; Doug (Lorraine), Sharlene (Gary), Glennis, Mark (Shelly), Greg (Jackie), twelve grandchildren, her siblings, Jeanne Tinevez, Marie Creurer, Alex Tinevez, many friends and relatives. Terry was born Dec 4, 1923 in Pathlow, Sask. As a young and adventurous adult, she moved to Vancouver where she did secretarial work for six years before marrying Ed in 1949. Many lifelong friendships were developed while residing in Field, Natal, Coquitlam and Kamloops. Upon retirement in Winfield in 1982, Terry became an active member of St. Edward's Parish and continued to be very involved in church activities at Immaculate Conception Parish when moving to Kelowna in 1991. Known by her family and friends as a feisty lady, Terry loved a good debate and never shied away from a fight for a good cause. She was a loving person who lived her life with passion and determination, always ready to give that special helping hand to whomever was in need. Terry cultivated many hobbies and interests and, in her later years, took up painting and became a member of the Pleasure Painters Group. Evening prayer service will be at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna Wed., January 29, 2003 at 7:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at ICC on Thurs, Jan 30 at 10:30am. Reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C.

SWORDY, JOHN ELVIN (AL) born April 3, 1919 in Kelowna died in MSA Hospital, Abbotsford on January 27, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Muriel; son Lee (Rachel); sister Helen; brother Stan, nieces and nephews. Al served in the RCAF 1942-1945 and 37 years in air traffic control which he loved. His retirement years were spent travelling and 'snowbirding' south. His wish was to slip away quietly and therefore as per his request there will be no service. LIND, DONALD WALTER passed away at Kelowna General Hospital January 25th 2003. He will be sadly missed by his wife Mildred, son Allan (Sandy) of Westbank and daughter Brenda Sims of Red Deer, Alberta. Also five grandsons: Brad and Richard Lind and Eric, Randy and Joshua Sims. PETERS, HELENE (OMA) born February 19, 1909, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 28, 2003. WARD, HAROLD DICKSON: passed away peacefully on January 26, 2003 at Brookhaven Care Facility, Westbank, BC, at 83 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy, sons Bill (Debbie), Alan (Shelley), Terry and friend Cindy, Gary (Page), seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Harold was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Br. 26, Peachland, BC) and a life member of the BCGEU. CROOKS, ELISE (NEE FORREST) passed away peacefully, on January 28, 2003 in her 81st year at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband of 60 years, William Patrick, two sons, Patrick Forrest (Caroline) and William Gary (Margaret), her brother John Russell Forrest (Joanne) and seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Elise was born in Port Alberni, August 23, 1922 and is descended from a pioneer Alberni Valley family. Her grandfather moved to Alberni from Ontario around 1870 and constructed many of the Valley's heritage buildings and lighthouses on the West Coast. Elise was a lady of quiet dignity and warmth with a gentle sense of humour and a zest for life. She traveled extensively with her husband Bill As his profession took them to exotic areas adjacent to many of the World's forests and jungles. In 1990 they moved to Fairwinds in Nanoose Bay where Elise honed her bridge skills and enjoyed golf with an emphasis on the social aspects. Special thanks for their help to Drs. B. Bell, R. Love and the Nurses and staff on the fifth floor. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary's Anglican, Nanoose Bay at 2 PM, Saturday February 1, 2003.
